1 Iris Demo V3 for use with a Siemens PLC The PLC application belonging to the Iris demo for Siemens is available for Step 7. This Iris demonstration is a small application that is intended to demonstrate what Iris is capable to.

$The demo is installed in C:\IrisDemo\DemoSiemensTCPIP or C:\IrisDemo\DemoSiemensMPI.$

2 Install the Iris Demo application Start DemoSA.exe to start the installation of the demo. This window appears: Press Unzip to install the demo. The demo is installed in C:\IrisDemo\DemoSiemensTCPIP or C:\IrisDemo\DemoSiemensMPI. The Siemens S7 program should be installed from within your S7 package and installed in: C:\IrisDemo\PLCapplication\ directory The following is necessary for the connection between Iris and a Siemens S7 PLC:

3 Configure the Siemens S7 PLC 2.1 Configure the CPU-type The demo application is made with a S7 314 CPU. You must change the CPU type if you will run the demo with another CPU type. Open the Hardware configuration of the demo project to change the CPU type (see Figure 1 Opening the Hardware configuration) Figure 1 Opening the Hardware configuration

5 5-14 Open the CPU Properties window to set the MPI address. You can open the CPU Properties windows by double click on the CPU in the Rack. 6-14 2.2 Configure the TCPIP communication card The following is only necessary if you use the TCPIP communication to communicate with the Iris Demo application.

Remove the TCPIP card if you only use the Demo application with MPI communication! Chose the used CP-card from the hardware library and drag them to slot four of the PLC rack. 7 7-14 Open the CP Properties window to set the TCPIP address. You can open the CP Properties windows by double click on the CP card at slot four in the Rack. 8 8-14 Save and compile the new hardware configuration. Download Save and compile 2.3 Download the configuration to the PLC Download the hardware configuration in the PLC. Go to the Simatic manager and download all the Blocks to the PLC

9-14 3 Configure the Iris Demo application First install the Iris software, if it is not already installed. The demo works from version 3.0, file version 3.0.0.92.

The demo works from version 3.0, file version You can check this by choosing [Help] >> [About] at the Iris Design Studio screen. If you do not have the last version you can download the latest version from After starting Iris, the Iris Design Studio screen is shown for a period of 30 seconds. (See Figure 8 Iris Design Studio Screen) After 30 sec the Iris Design Studio is minimized. You can maximize the Iris Design Studio from the Iris icon in the Notification Area at the right site of the Windows Task Bar. Open the Application Editor and click on Application in the Tree Panel. Change the Page Dir and the Start Page if you do not use the default directory. The Iris demo application is default placed in the C:\IrisDemo\DemoSA directory Figure 15 Changing the Page settings Close and restart Iris to activate the changes. You can close Iris from the eye-icon in the notification area (See Figure 16 Changing the Page settings) by clicking on [Exit].

14-14 5 Start the application Stop Iris by choosing [Exit] and start Iris again. The application is automatically started.

The following screen appears: The application consist of three screens, you can change screen by pressing the buttons [Extruder], [Process] and [Alarm overview] at the bottom of the screen. By pressing [Machine control] you can see a so-called pop-up window, which is used here to start and stop the machine. At the right is a historical diagram shown, by pressing the right button of your mouse you can go back in time to see the historical data. With the button [Real time] the actual data is shown again.
