4 Introduction Four PushButton Analog plug is an unique device which can replace the actual keypads. The major advantage of using this plug is that it uses only one data pin to interface with the digital systems unlike 2x2 keypads which requires 4 data pins for interface, On the press of each button this plug gives an unique analog value. By using these unique analog values we can identify which button is pressed. Specification Operating voltage: 5V Size: 40mm x 40mm Variants None Elint Labz ( ) Page 3 of 8
5 Supported cables: A A Details Four PushButton analog plug is an analog input device for the interfacing system. It has an interfacing port with three pins named as G, V and A. Here G represents Ground, V represents VCC and A represents Data pin through which unique analog values can be obtained. The table shows the analog value range obtained for each button on the plug. BUTTON VALUE S S S S Elint Labz ( ) Page 4 of 8
6 The picture shows the push button numbering on the 4 push button plug corresponding to the table. How to interface? Use either of the supported interfacing cables to connect this 4 Push Button analog plug to the controller board. If 4-3A cable is to be used then 3pin end of the cable must be connected this plug and 4 pin end of the cable must be connected to controller board. If 3-3A cable is to be used then any end of the cable can be connected to this plug. Always ensure that black wire of the cable is connected to the G pin on both ends. In the below given pictures you can see that 4-3A cable is used to connect 4 Push Button analog plug to the Pluguino Board. The data pin of the 4 PushButton analog plug is connected to the A0 pin on the controller board. By reading the analog voltages at A0 pin of the controller we can identify which button is pressed. 9 In order to demonstrate the working of 4 push button analog plug, we make use of the serial terminal. In this example code we read the unique analog values from the plug and identify which button is pressed based on the value we get and display it on the serial terminal. Example Codes Arduino Unsigned int Val = 0 ; plug // variable to store analog values from void setup () pinmode(a0, INPUT); // defining A0 as an input pin to read the values from the plug Serial.begin( 9600 ); // initializing the serial port with baudrate 9600 void loop () Val=analogRead(A0); // read the analog value from the plug and store it // Identifying which button is pressed based on the value we stored in variable and printing. if ((Val>= 506 )&&(Val<= 509 )) Serial.println( "Button 1 is Pressed" ); delay( 500 ); if ((Val>= 510 )&&(Val<= 514 )) Serial.println( "Button 2 is Pressed" ); delay( 500 ); if ((Val>= 764 )&&(Val<= 768 )) Serial.println( "Button 3 is Pressed" ); delay( 500 ); if ((Val>= 175 )&&(Val<= 179 )) Elint Labz ( ) Page 8 of 8
10 Serial.println( "Button 4 is Pressed" ); delay( 500 ); Output video: Contributors List of interns & other contributors who have worked for developing this manual Asrar Khan P Elint Labz ( ) Page 9 of 8
