3 INTERFACE DESCRIPTION Inputs: Interface: RF: Paging: Power: 4) TTL or Analog, 0-5V max, rising or falling edge detect 1) Dedicated interrupt input, 1) Pulse capture input Serial port, 9600 baud, RS232 or TTL selectable by jumper MHz NBFM POCSAG, 1200bps, non-inverted, Alpha numeric only Requires 4 to 12VDC, 150mA max when transmitting GENERAL DESCRIPTION Case Mounted Version Uses a provided serial connector. Bare Board Version Serial port uses J8 Pin 1=RX, Pin 2=TX, Pin 3=GND (RX is into OEM TX) Each input pin can be configured individually as a digital or analog input, in addition an internal weak pull-up can be turned on. Each input can be set to detect a rising or falling signal and with analog inputs a configurable threshold from is used to determine high and low levels Inputs are sampled approximately every 10mS Programmable page repeat timer that spaces pages if the input is continually left in the detect state Jumper Settings for TTL serial port: Remove jumpers: J5 Place Jumper J6 from pins 2 to 3 Place Jumper J7 from pins 2 to 3 Jumper Settings for RS232 serial port: Insert jumper: J5 Place Jumper J6 from pins 1 to 2 Place Jumper J7 from pins 1 to 2 Serial connection 9600 BAUD 8 Data Bits NO Parity 1 Stop Bit NO Flow Control. 4 Programming Commands: All commands are sent in ASCII with capital letters only, a carriage return is required at the end of each command (0x0d). All numbers in a command are decimal unless otherwise specified. Command List: RESET Resets the board and restarts the program. There are no parameters associated with this command. BL Invokes the bootloader for updating the firmware. There are no parameters associated with this command The bootloader uses Xmodem to transfer the new binary image into the microcontroller FLASH memory SETT Sets the time, unit uses a 24 hour clock. Syntax: SETT,hh,mm hh=hour and mm=minute for the current time, seconds are set to 0 when the command is executed SONTn Sets the turn on time, there are three timers 0,1,2 Syntax: SONTn,hh,mm hh=hour and mm=minute to enable the unit. Note a valid off time is required for each on time. On and off times may overlap. If all times are set to 255 the unit will always be active. The unit actually never shuts off, but if it is not active valid inputs will not cause pages to occur. SOFFTn Sets the turn off time, there are three timers 0,1,2 Syntax: SOFFTn,hh,mm hh=hour and mm=minute to disable the unit. Note a valid on time is required for each off time. On and off times may overlap, if all times are set to 255 the unit will always be active. The unit actually never shuts off, but if it is not active valid inputs will not cause pages to occur. PAGE Sends a page immediately Syntax: PAGE,nn,ii,m nn=pager number to page ii=system ID to use m=alpha numeric message, (The maximum number of characters that can be sent is 40). Example: PAGE,12,0,Hello CPG - Page LRS coaster pager immediately Syntax: CPG,nn,ii,M nn=pager number to page ii=system ID M=mode in HEXIDECIMAL SPG - Page LRS Staff StarPager pager immediately Syntax: SPG,nn,ii,m,MSG nn=pager number to page ii=system ID m=mode in HEXIDECIMAL MSG=one digit numeric message Long Range Systems 3 OEM TX User Manual
5 RPG Sets the re-page interval in minutes Syntax: RPG,n n=number of minutes between pages if an input is constantly in the active condition Ex: RPG,2 re-page=120seconds ECHO0 Turns off character echo from the serial port ECHO1 Turns on character echo from the serial port SYSID Sets the system ID used when paging, note this is not the individual pager ID. Syntax: SYSID,n n=id valid range 0 to 12 READ Read current settings SINPn Set input configuration for input n n=0,1,2,3 Syntax: SINPn,En,ID,Type,Page,MSG,,Threshold, and Direction En: Enable 0=disabled, 1=enabled ID: Individual pager ID, valid range 1 to 9999 Type 0=POCSAG, 1=guest, 2=staff Page referrs to the alert type for non-pocsag pagers only. MSG: ASCII message up to 64 characters long that will be sent : 0=digital input, 2=Analog input Threshold: Value used to decide analog level crossing, Direction: The input will cause a page when a level change is detected. 1=page when signal goes from low to high. 0=page when signal goes from high to low. This applies to digital and analog input settings Example Input 0,Digital input, pager=103 rising edge detect: SINP0,1,103,0,Input 0 activated,0,0,1 Example Input 1,Analog input, pager=45, threshold = 512, falling edge detect: SINP1,1,45,0,Input 1 activated,2,512,0 PULL Control pull-ups on inputs. Value is in HEXIDECIMAL Syntax: PULL,x x=hex value of pull-up enable bits Bits are in the same order as inputs, bit 0 corresponds to input 0 A 1 turns on the pull-up a 0 turns it off. Example: PULL,C pull-ups are turned on for bits bits 3 and 2 pull-ups are off for bits 1 and 0 STAT Some operating information including firmware version is returned when this command is executed Long Range Systems 4 OEM TX User Manual
