3 Features 58mm direct thermal printer with speed upto 50mm / second. Clam Shell operation which allows for easy paper loading. The printer modes are: Citizen, ESC-POS, HEX DUMP or Machine printing. All modes are adjusted by the Dip Switches. In ESC-POS mode, there is 5.4K Bytes of Ram in total which can be used for both Character loading and Graphic loading. Both these files are loaded within the buffer and can take the whole buffer, but together the size cannot exceed 5.4K Bytes. There is also Non-Volatile storage of 48Kbytes for client logos, and 1Kbytes of NV User defined storage. In Machine Print Mode the RAM is re-configured to maximise the serial input buffer. This is set to the maximum available 5,839 bytes. (The ESC-POS RAM based graphic and character storage is disabled) A Cash Draw option sends a 24V pulse for 0.1 second to the cash draw for automatic release at the end of printing. (A command from the PC program to the printer energises and pulses the cash draw to open) There is a Speaker installed for audible indication as commanded by the PC program. Connecting your printer Connect cables as needed - USB - Serial - Cash Draw Connect the power supply last. Then with the power supply off at the wall or unplugged, insert the power connector into the printer, then power on at the wall after all other cables are connected. USB port If you are using the USB cable, Microsoft Windows will pick up the driver automatically from the internet. Serial port Connect to PC with the serial cable provided. This is a DB9-Male to DB9-Female, Extension Cable Baud rates: 300, 1200, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, (See Setting the Dip Switches ) Parity is always off, Stop Bits is always 1, Handshaking is both Hardware and Xon/Xoff. Power Check the power cable is not damaged, Plug the 8V power supply provided into wall socket then plug the 8V connector into the unit. DO NOT USE A HIGHER VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY. This willl destroy the print head which will not be covered under warranty with this obvious over voltage damage. Cash Draw The Cash Draw is activated by a 24VDC pulse of 0.1 Seconds. 4 Installing 70mm Thermal Paper Drop the paper roll into the printer, make sure that the paper spools from the bottom. Firmly close the lid with some paper protruding. Optionally, use the optional spindle at the centre as shown then seat spindle into place and Firmly close the lid. Turning on the Power Once the unit is plugged in at the power point and the rear of the printer, an automatic standby state will be entered after 2 seconds, reducing power usage to less than 1W. To cut power to the unit, the power supply has to be unplugged at the power point or at the rear of the printer. The Line Feed Button Feeds Paper whilst depressed. (also Rescans Dip Switches ) Hold whilst power-on, Print configuration, keep holding for Hex Dump of the First 64k bytes received The Paper-Out Detector The only reason for the paper-out sensor is to use every inch of the paper roll. There is no function to save the last print, so if you need to use every inch of a roll and you want to keep everything printed, then you have to use the Spindle. The Paper-Out function is fully automatic. Just install the spindle and when the end of paper is detected, the printer will pause until it the LineFeed button is pressed. Then the Paper is tested and if there, the printing continues, otherwise the printer will wait. Do not power off in this mode, you will lose the pending data waiting to be printed. Optional Hardware 13.8V Input The printer has an on-board voltage regulator, which will regulate the Voltage for the printer. Extra capacity is also installed. Please note that in some cases with unusually noisy power, the battery pack will be necessary. Battery Pack An 8.4V Battery Pack can be fitted under the printer to allow for printing without 240V supply available. Fully charged, the battery pack will continuously print for approximately 1 Hour between charges. Paper Spindle The paper spindle is required when the entire paper roll must be used. Otherwise, just replace the paper roll when the RED/PINK end of roll marks are showing. 2MByte Storage This unit has the optional capacity to store 2Mbytes of data on board. This can be useful in data logging or reprinting. Real Time Clock The unit has a very accurate, temperature-compensated, real-time clock (RTC) which has an accuracy of 2ppm under normal operating conditions 0-40 Degrees Celsius, equating to an inaccuracy of up to 1minute per year. Beyond that temperature range, within -40 to +85 degrees Celsius, an accuracy of 3.5ppm equates to an inaccuracy of up to 2minutes per year. 5 Extra Functions for custom orders Extra I/O and Control software can be installed as requested for custom orders. There is a spare side port on the printer which can take a 6Way RJ12 or an 8 pin Din connector. It is possible to fit other connectors on the rear panel. Extra Circuitry can be installed onto the main PCB for custom orders. There are 3 spare buttons and 3 spare LEDS available on the printer now for custom software to use. There is available for demonstration, a 4 button decal with 4 led translucent white panels suitable for any colour available. Please contact our service people for more info. Depending on the required extra components, most upgrades will be relatively cheap to manufacture, when you consider that the case and power supply are complete & approved for most countries. Trouble Shooting Resetting the printer Turn off power at the power point, wait 10 Seconds, power back on. Paper not feeding properly Remove the paper, check it is tightly rolled and the sides are straight. Make sure the paper spools from the bottom of the roll, then replace and retest. It is necessary to close the Clamshell lid firmly. Dirt in the printer Power off the unit, remove the paper roll, turn the printer upside down and brush any dirt away gently. Replace paper roll and test. The Graphic characters are loaded at one end of this Ram and the Image files are loaded into the other end, so as long as the two files combined are not larger than the whole buffer, they will co-exist in this limited memory. Warranty The printer is covered by a 12months parts replacement warranty. The power supply and printer will be replaced with remanufactured units at our discretion. The client will pack the unit into a box with a return address label included and pay freight to and from our repair centre. 10 The Temperature Logger will support USB Flash Drive download in 2013 This unit has the capacity to log up to 16 J / K type Thermocouples, a 4-20mA input, PT100(s) and Humidity into 8MByte storage. For Validation requests, there is an option for 2x 4-Wire PT100 probes or when using the J/K types 1x 4Wire-PT100. This has been designed for the Steriliser Validation market, where long term stability is the primary consideration. Humidity, a 4-20mA input, PT100(s) and up to 16 J / K type Thermocouple inputs with 50Hz and 60Hz noise immunity can be logged to the 8MByte Flash in any time frame, programmed in factory under interrupt control using the on-board Real Time Clock Alarms adjustable by Laptop. Either direct printout or log for a time period and then print a report, any style requested can be accommodated. The Thermocouple amplifiers are linearised and compensated, offering extremely low drift over time. The temperature range can be adjusted in the factory up to the maximum range of -270 to o C with up to 16 bit resolution. However, It is recommended that a shorter range of -30 o C to o C be used for greater stability. (16 bit is the best possible resolution available, lesser resolutions result from noisy environments) Finer ranges can be set, stable results will be achieved relatively easily. (Please note that if the extreme temperatures are required there will be some need for client calibration.) The On-Board Real Time Clock is extremely accurate, it is offered at a maximum drift of 2 minutes per year. This printer can be installed for years without the need to adjust the time by the Laptop software. The On-Board GPS module can be incorporated for Vehicle Operations. This unit will track up to 18 satellites at any one time, offering great coverage within the city. The On-Board Flash can store client Logos and Header information, this can be programmed in the factory to be printed first with every printout, please send your requests to our support team to discuss implementation. This is connected through the existing PT100-8way connector, giving PT-100 and this Temp and Humidity. Or it can be connected through the RJ12 (6 position) with 2 spare pins, the 2x PT100 can still be accessed by rear ports. USB Flash Drive Interface will be available in 2012 (for data download) The data download can be achieved very quickly by using the Flash Drive. The software will automatically download the entire contents of the storage onto the flash drive. The buzzer will indicate the start and completion of this process.
