3 Introduction Monit Rally Computers is a specialist manufacturer of electronics products for rally cars. Over the last three years we have become known around the world for the reliabilty, performance, and ease-ofuse of our innovative product range. In early 2005 we were looking for a rally computer to use in our own competition rally car. As we began to study the existing products on the market, we became more and more surprised by the lack of technological innovation available. Many products appeared to have come straight from the 1980s, complete with dimly-lit displays, clunky enclosures and confusing arrays of switches. It seemed unacceptable to us that rally teams should have to put up with such outdated equipment at the start of the Twenty First Century. As a result of this experience, we decided to build our own rally computer. After a year of careful development and testing, the first Monit rally computer was created. Today, we export our innovative products throughout the world, to teams at all levels of competition. 5 Technology Overview From design to manufacture, our goal at Monit is to make products that are powerful, easy-to-use, and reliable. To achieve this, our rally computers make use of a number of key technologies. Sunlight Viewable Display All Monit rally computers are fitted with a sunlight viewable graphics display with an integrated bright white backlight. This high quality display delivers excellent ledgibility in all lighting conditions from direct sunlight to total darkness. The entire display surface is also coated with an advanced 3M anti-glare film to reduce distracting reflections and prevent sunstrike. Compact and Lightweight Measuring only 20mm thick, and weighing less than 100 grams, Monit rally computers are up to 70% lighter than competing products. This makes installation easier, particularly if the product has to be fitted around airbags, and is a simple way to save weight in a competition vehicle. Robust Construction Monit rally computers are constructed using automotive grade electronics and a custom-designed injection molded case. The result is a product tough enough to survive the most demanding rally stages, year after year. Powerful Features Whether club-level or professional, Monit rally computers have all the features required for competitive rallying. Distance, speed, timing and fuel are just some of the powerful features available. With two models to choose from, there is a product to suit a range of needs and budgets. Easy to Use All Monit products are designed to be very easy to use, right out of the box. Rather than using complicated abbreviations and large arrays of switches, Monit rally computers have a modern mobile-phone style user interface. This guides you through tricky operations, such as calibration, using clear on-screen instructions.

6 Product Features Distance Counters Monit rally computers have two independent distance counters that can be cleared or preset to any arbitrary value. They can also be configured to count up or down, operate at either one metre or ten metre resolution, and display in either miles or kilometres. These features make the unit perfect for all types of rallying and road survey work. Current and Maximum Speed Using an advanced software algorithm, the Monit rally computer can update its current speed display up to four times a second. This means a smoother and more responsive speed readout perfect for monitoring official speed restrictions. It can also store and display the vehicle s maximum speed. Average Speed* Useful for touring or TSD type rallying, this function can be used to accurately measure the vehicle s average speed over a stage or event. Only available on selected models.

7 Product Features Stopwatch With its built-in stopwatch, the Monit rally computer can be used to record stage times without the need for a hand held timer. For even more convienience, a dedicated external hand or foot switch can also be used to control the function. Time of Day* Selected models include an accurate time of day clock. This displays time in 24-hour format to the nearest second. It can quickly be set to an official rally clock, allowing time control sections and service intervals to be easily tracked. Fuel Gauge* For professional teams, managing a vehicle s fuel level is vital to being competitive. Selected Monit rally computers include a powerful fuel measurement system to do just that. The system includes an easyto-use calibration system that allows it to work with all different tank shapes. The current fuel level can be displayed along with other telemetry data, or on a full screen gauge display. This later feature is particularly useful for the service crew during refuelling, and includes a bar graph that shows the percentage of fuel in the tank. Sprint Timer The built-in 0-100kph and quarter mile* sprint timers are a simple way to measure performance and evaluate modifications. The timer starts automatically when the vehicle begins moving, and stops once the target speed/distance has been reached. Auxiliary Inputs All Monit rally computers include two programmable auxiliary inputs. These can be connected to either foot or hand switches and configured to perform a range of functions. For example, set one to clear a distance counter, and the other to dim the backlight. This gives you the flexibility to quickly customise an installation to your needs. * Only available on TC200 model.

9 TC100 The Monit TC100 is ideal for club competitors looking for a high quality rally computer at an economical price. It has all the basic features required for most types of rallying, including two independent distance counters, current and maximum speed readouts, and a built-in stopwatch. And as with all Monit products, you also get the benefits of compact size, proven reliability and simple operation. TC200 The Monit TC200 is designed specifically for professional competitors that need a top-of-the-line rally computer at a competitive price. It has all the features of the TC100, but with the addition of an average speed readout, accurate time of day clock, and advanced fuel measurement system. The TC200 delivers all these powerful features in a compact and robust package, and thanks to the mobile-phone style menu system, using it is simple and intuitive. 10 Speed Sensors Monit rally computers measure distance and speed by counting the pulses received from a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). Depending on the type of vehicle, there are a number of options for obtaining a suitable signal. Factory Sensor Many modern vehicle already have a suitable VSS fitted to their gearboxes. If this sensor produces a digital signal, it can be connected directly a Monit rally computer without the need for any interface box. Existing Aftermarket Sensor If another brand of rally computer was previously installed, the VSS used to run this should work with a Monit rally computer. PR003 Monit Analog Interface (PR003) Some vehicles have a factory fitted VSS that produces a weak analogue signal too small to drive a rally computer. The Monit Analog Interface can be used to boost this signal and convert it into a digital format compatible with a Monit rally computer. The interface can also be used to obtain a suitable signal from the wheel speed sensors used by most ABS systems. Please note, however, that for safety reasons, this can only be done if the ABS system is no longer used. Monit Wheel Probe (PR001) PR001 If no suitable VSS can be found, the best option is to install a Monit Inductive Wheel Probe. This is mounted on the wheel hub or near a drive shaft and works by detecting bolt heads as they rotate past the face of the sensor. A custom bracket will need to be fabricated to fit the sensor to your vehicle.

11 Accessories Foot Reset Switch (FR001) Made from pressed steel and fitted with a rubber grip, this industrial grade foot pedal can be used to reset a distance counter or perform another useful task (such as control the stopwatch or counting direction). Up to two pedals may be connected to one tripmeter, and these can be configured to perform different tasks.
