Solenoi interlocks Description Area of application The solenoi interlocks of the AZM an MZM series have been esigne to prevent sliing, hinge an removable safety guars (fences, flaps or oors) from being opene before hazarous conitions (e.g. run-on movements from rollers, chains, shafts etc) have been eliminate. This task is to perform in conjunction with an appropriate safety relay moule, such as a fail-safe stanstill monitor or a safe timer. In aition to this application fiel of occupational safety, interlocks are also use in cases where the opening of a safety evice causes an impermissible or unwante intrusion into a prouction process (process protection). Design an way of functioning The solenoi interlock of the Schmersal Group is base on the principle of separate actuators: The actuator element is fixe in the moveable part (mostly a safety oor) of the guar system. The interlock itself is fixe, such as on the post of a safety oor. Shutting the safety equipment immerses the actuator in the evice an interlock locks with a bolt in the safety oor. Only then can the machine be starte. The position of the locking bolt is continuously being monitore. When the safety guar is opene in the unlocke conition, the actuator is separate from the base unit. During this process, the NC contacts are positively opene an the NO contacts close. There are two interlocking principles: The current principle is where the locking bolt is hel into position with a spring. By energizing the interlocking solenoi coil, the interlock unlatches an the NC contact is opene, an the protection equipment can be opene. With the working current principle, the operation is reverse. Using this principle an analysis of the accient risk is to be mae, as you shoul be able to open the protection equipment in the event of a fault (e.g. broken cable) or with a loss of power. The solenoi interlocks, the safety switches an the safety sensors have all belonge to the core program of the Schmersal Group for ecaes. 2 The solenoi interlocks AZM 161, 170, 190 an 415 are fitte with protection against incorrect locking. The AZM 200 Series is integrate with position monitoring of the safety oor, interlock, oor hanle an if necessary other functions such as the emergency release in an installation frienly, ergonomic operate system. The AZM 300 Series is characterise by a novel interlock system an an RFID-base safe etection of the actuator position. The AZM 400 series is a safe bolt interlock with bistable principle of operation or a motor-riven locking bolt With the series MZM 100 an 120 non-contact-acting solenoi interlocks are also available, where the clamping force is generate electromagnetically. In several series (AZM 200, AZM 300, AZM 400, MZM 100) the monitoring of the safety oor position is not electromechanical, but non-contact - either with the Schmersal evelope "Coe Safety Sensor Technology (CSS) or by a safety-reinforce RFID-technology (RSS). These moels offer the avantage that they provie the machine operator with aitional iagnostic information. Depening on the type of evice, an iniviual coing of the actuator is possible. Clamping forces of up to 10,000 N are possible. For some series, the latching force (i.e. the non-safety-relate clamping force) can be ajuste. Versions with integrate "AS-Interface Safety at Work" interface, as well as moels with ATEX certification are also available.
