6 EN-4 GraviTek Titration Scale 2.5 Battery Installation and Use The scale may also be powered by batteries. Remove the battery cover and install four alkaline AA (LR6) type batteries. Refer to Figure 2.6 to properly install the batteries. Under battery power a battery symbol is shown on the left side of the display. The Auto-Off setting is useful for conserving battery power, see section Figures 2-6, Battery Installation 2.6 Initial Calibration Power on the scale by pressing On-Zero. Allow at least one minute for the scale to stabilize before calibrating. and hold the Print/Cal button until [CAL] is displayed. The display flashes [-C-] while zero reading is taken. The display flashes the required span mass. Place the indicated calibration mass on the pan and press Yes. The display flashes [-C-]. When calibration is complete, [DonE] is displayed. Note: Calibration is also available in the Setup menu, see section
7 GraviTek Titration Scale 3. OPERATION EN Modes of Operation There are three Modes of operation, Standard Weighing, Titration Test, and Data Upload. The Titration Test Mode is also broken into 20 Test Types. ing Mode/Test will advance to the next available Mode or Test Type. Some Modes and Test Types may initially be unavailable. They can be enabled in the Main menu Type [t.y.p.e], see section Standard Weighing Mode Mode/Test until the g weighing is seen. Zero to zero the scale and place objects to be weighed onto the pan. When using a container the Zero button may be used similar to a Tare feature. Using a heavy container will limit the remaining capacity of the scale Titration Test Mode Mode/Test until the gxx is seen. The xx will represent a number corresponding to an available Titration Test Type. (Refer to your GraviTek list of available Test Types.) Repeatedly press Mode/Test until the required Titration Test Type number is shown. Follow the step below to perform a Titration Test: Note: During the Titration Test procedure it is important to allow the weight reading to fully stabilize before pressing the Zero or Accept buttons. These buttons will not operate until the reading has become stable. The appearance of the stability indicator [*] shows the user that the reading stabilized. 1) Place an empty test cup on the scale pan. When the weight reading is stable press the Zero button to Tare out the weight of the empty cup. 2) Pour the test sample into the cup. When the weight reading is stable press the Accept button. 3) The Test Type number will begin flashing to show that the first weight reading was accepted. 4) Remove the cup with the sample from the scale pan. 5) If required add the proper Indicator material to the sample. (Refer to your GraviTek list of Indicator materials.)
8 EN-6 GraviTek Titration Scale 6) Select the proper Titrant to be used with the Test Type. (Refer to your GraviTek list of Titrant materials.) 7) Before adding the Titrant to the sample place the container with the dropper on the scale pan. When the weight reading is stable press the Zero button. 8) Remove the Titrant container from the pan. 9) Titrate the sample. (Refer to your GraviTek Titration instructions.) 10) After Titration place the Titrant container and dropper back on the scale pan. When the weight reading is stable press the Accept button. 11) The scale will perform the calculation and display the Test Type concentration in PPM. (If the [on.test} setting is selected Test values and PPM results are printed to the serial device.) 12) The display will flash the PPM result and [SAVE]. Yes to save the PPM result into the scale s Test Memory. No to clear the PPM result without saving. 13) If the result is saved by pressing Yes the display will flash the memory location where the result is stored. 14) The scale returns to the start of the Test procedure. Notes: a) If the PPM result is out of range, (> PPM) an Error message will be shown on the display. An out of result can be printed to the serial device but cannot be saved to memory. No to clear the Error message. b) If the scale s Test Memory becomes filled (100 tests) the display will show [mm.full]. Testing can continue but new test results can not be saved until the scale memory has been cleared, (refer to section 4.2.1) c) During the test keep the Titrant container clean and dry. Contaminants or foreign material on the outside of the container could cause errors during testing Data Upload Mode Mode/Test until [UPLoAd UP] is seen. the Print button to send all of the stored Titration Test memory to the serial device. (If a serial device is not available the [dsply.mme] sub-menu may be used to view the Test memory on the display.

Span calibration should be performed if the scale is repositioned or if the room temperature changes significantly. Linearity Calibration [Lin]: Yes to begin Linearity calibration. Linearity calibration uses three weight readings: Zero, a mid-range value and full capacity. Generally Linearity calibration is not required unless testing shows the linearity error exceeds the tolerance in the specification table. Accuracy of the calibration weights is important to maintain weighing integrity. Display Memory [dspy.mme]: Yes to begin the display of stored test memory. No at any time to exit the display memory function. ing Yes repeatedly will advance to the next test that is stored in memory. Clear Memory [CLr.mME]: Yes to erase all stored tests in the memory. 14 EN-12 GraviTek Titration Scale 5.1 Draft Shield The draft shield was designed with an easy to remove center piece which can be used as a high quality sample tray. With the draft shield closed and the center piece removed the draft shield will still provide increased protection from rough environments while maintaining optimum weighing speed. To remove the center piece, rotate counter-clockwise. See Figure 5-1. With the sample tray firmly in place the unique shape of the draft shield also allows for the efficient stacking of one scale on top of another. Figure 5.1, Sample Tray Removal 5.2. Calibration Lock Feature Sliding the switch fully to the lock position prevents calibration of the scale. Using a paper or wire seal will physically secure the switch if required. Locking the calibration Adhesive paper seal Wire or plastic tie seal Figure 5-2, Locking and Sealing the Calibration Lock Switch. 5.3 Weigh Below Feature The Weigh Below Hook is stored inside the battery cover. Thread the hook into the access hole at the bottom of the scale. Mount the scale onto an appropriate assembly
15 GraviTek Titration Scale EN-13 that allows free working space below the hook. See Figure 5-3. Note: Never allow the scale to rest directly on the hook. Weigh Below Hook access hole Figure 5-3, Setup for using the Weigh Below Hook. 5.3 Security Feature The rear edge of the scale contains a security loop that can be used with a security cable to deter theft. The cable is threaded through the security loop and through or around a permanent structure. A locking security device kit may be purchased separately. Security Loop Figures 5-4, Security Loop Feature
