2 WELCOME Dear Friends, EnergyNet is pleased to announce the annual Africa Renewable Energy Forum (ARF) will return to Morocco from 30th November-1st December Following on from the first Africa Renewable Energy Forum in November 2016, this meeting will once again bring together the public and private sector to drive forward the development of renewable energy projects across the continent. The Africa Renewable Energy Forum will unite African Energy Ministers and government representatives, heads of utilities, regulators and national agencies, leading investors, power developers, technology providers, financiers and multilateral agencies to focus on what is needed to unlock investment in clean energy and infrastructure projects for regional green growth and sustainable development. At last year s Forum we addressed the opportunity for Africa on the global renewable energy development stage and discussed climate resilience strategies for sustainable energy development to meet the climate change requirements in the context of COP22. This year we will explore practical solutions on clean project financing, climate-smart solutions and innovative community-owned projects. Co-located with the Gas Options North & West Africa Energy Summit, the Energy week will provide participants opportunities not only to discuss renewable energy sources, but a wider sustainable energy mix for Africa. Our goal is to deliver and execute a COP22 legacy programme for Africa through The Path 2021 The Outcomes of the Africa Renewable Energy Forum. I invite you to review this brochure where you will find further information on this exciting forum. I look forward to seeing you in Casablanca at what is promising to be a lively and productive week for Africa s energy sector. Warm regards, Valeria Aruffo Regional Manager: West Africa EnergyNet In Paris, there have been many revolutions over the centuries. Today it is the most beautiful and the most peaceful revolution that has just been accomplished a revolution for climate change. François Hollande, President of France
