But recent developments have made post-trade an exciting field of business. The post-trade landscape and its market participants have faced dramatic changes which will transform business models, processes and networks. But these changes are the reason why many traditional and also new market participants see the post-trade market as a promising growth market. Therefore, it is essential that all market actors need to answer the complex question: What will the European post-trade market look like in the year 2030?, in order to prepare for the future. The current driving forces come from different sources in political, technological and even sociological developments and will transform the post-trade landscape dramatically. In order to navigate through these changes and respond to opportunities and risks at an early stage, an understanding of possible future scenarios will be essential. Real-time clearing and settlement of securities trades has been achieved, enabled partly by the adoption of emerging technologies, and partly by the harmonization of existing regulations into one consistent European regulatory framework. The list of offenses is long; it ranges from data piracy to the use of malware and online fraud and the scenarios are becoming ever more sophisticated and complex. The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) in recent years has therefore defined regulations for more security in the Internet. Depending on the effort involved, this can lead to significant costs, which increase further as the threat level rises. SIX aims to help its clients and shareholders achieve more cyber security in the future. In January 2018, SIX opened Switzerland s first Security Operations Center (SOC), which is based on cognitive computing from IBM Watson.
