3 Introduction About Me: Nicholas Walker, Product Manager, HP Helion Development Platform Manage the Cloud Foundry efforts for the development platform Joined HP just over a year ago Prior to HP founded and ran SaaS provider of marketing automation software for 12 years Both technical and business background HP Helion Development Platform Team has Two Objectives: Build a best in class developer experience on top of a highly available/scalable OpenStack foundation Demonstrate leadership in bridging the gap between OpenStack and Cloud Foundry 3

4 Building the Best In Class Developer Experience Problem: Enterprise Developers need more than IaaS Compute and storage are great, but still need tools that sit on top of IaaS Lot of additional knowledge and time required to setup and maintain non OpenStack development infrastructure Solution: A platform specifically for developers Dev Database Test Enables developers to quickly develop, deploy, and control applications Focus on the code not managing the infrastructure - Eliminate need for developers to be experts in many diverse technologies DNS App Runtime LBaaS Includes: MSGaaS Instant provisioning and deployment of applications on preconfigured infrastructure Support for multiple frameworks, runtimes, services, and applications HP working with Cloud Foundry for application runtime Run 4

5 What is Cloud Foundry? Cloud Foundry is a leading open source development platform software Technology originally developed by VMWare Spun out to Pivotal Labs in 2011 and open sourced Cloud Foundry is a polyglot application runtime environment IaaS layer abstraction and simplification Cloud Foundry is a cluster of VMs/Services working together inside of an OpenStack tenant Multiple programming languages and services supported Language runtimes like Java, Ruby, PHP, Python, Node.js, Perl Attached non OpenStack services such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis, Memcache 5

6 HP and Cloud Foundry HP is a platinum founding member of the Cloud Foundry foundation February 2014, formation of foundation announced - 7 founding members, currently organizing HP leveraging OpenStack leadership experience to help drive the creation of an open governance model Tremendous momentum May 1, 8 additional members announced Last 12 months: 113% increase in contributors; contributed 700,000 lines of code HP has been working with Cloud Foundry for almost two years HP Public Cloud Application PaaS private Beta in March Pivotal Announces OSS Cloud Foundry 2012 Commercial Product Releases Begin 2013 HP Public Cloud apaas Private Beta Advisory Board Established IBM Joins Cloud Foundry First User Conference Cloud Foundry v2.0 Released 2014 HP Platinum Sponsorship Open Governance Model Rackspace, SAP, EMC, VMWare join Cloud Foundry 6

Solum is an incubator project to make cloud services easier to integrate into the application development process Announced in October 2013 HP supports the end goal of a development platform tightly integrated with OpenStack software Reasons HP chose to start with Cloud Foundry versus Solum Time to market shorter Already had substantial experience and time investigating Cloud Foundry Other strong partners; Feel we can achieve business goals Work top-down to integrate with OpenStack software, rather than ground-up 7
