2 Greeting Four sectors One success story Dear Friends, The protection of citizens is one of the most important obligations of the State. In Germany, policing duties are carried out solely by professionals, whereas in the fire and rescue services, emergency response and civil defence we rely largely on an army of volunteers. An estimated 1.7 million volunteers in Germany strengthen the backbone of our civil defence, rescue and support systems. This voluntary network is unique and rightly enjoys inter national esteem because our volunteers make a huge contribution to society. By the same token, the authorities must ensure that volunteers are treated responsibly and that due care is exercised in their deployment. Part of this entails the provision of good training, but the other part is the provision of the right equipment. INTERSCHUTZ 2015 offers a comprehensive overview of innovative products, new concepts and technical solutions. What are the components of a perfect operation? Thorough preparation, obtaining a clear overview, analysis of the situation and using the lessons gained from past and new experience provide the basis for progress. This sums up what you can expect to find at INTERSCHUTZ 2015 in Hannover. Fifty years have passed since the first INTERSCHUTZ, yet the success story continues unabated. Originally intended as a trade fair solely dedicated to the fire service, it has long since evolved into the leading exhibition for fire protection, disaster management, rescue, safety and security. Visit INTERSCHUTZ 2015 and make it a successful enterprise. I would like to wish the organizers and exhibitors of INTERSCHUTZ 2015 every success, and hope that it offers trade visitors a wealth of ideas, positive discussions and inspiration. 3 Protect yourself against gaps in your knowledge Fire prevention A fire prevention and protection forum for professionals makes its INTERSCHUTZ debut in Hall 13 in Plenty of discussions will be sparked off between exhibitors and trade visitors but here, at least, there will be no chance of a fire. The forum is dedicated to the role of technical fire protection, building protection and organizational aspects of fire protection. Visitors will benefit from the unique opportunity to engage in a dialogue with the many experts, planners and engineers involved in fire prevention. Here you can see all the latest products and developments everything from technical fire safety to airport appliances. Visitors can thus experience the best innovations. The most effective way to judge technical innovations and advances in operational vehicles is to see them in action. That is why the fire protection/fire fighting section of the exhibi tion occupies a large open-air site where exhibitors can demonstrate their products to best effect under operational conditions.
