7 International Recovery Platform (IRP) Current context for recovery Post-disaster recovery often leads to rebuilding risk. Support to recovery by UN agencies, bilaterals, IFIs, NGO s and other organizations is often insufficiently coordinated, leading to a duplication of efforts and failure to factor in risk reduction. International Recovery Platform (IRP) was established by UNDP, UN/OCHA, UN/ISDR and ILO with support and encouragement of the Government of Japan and close collaboration with ADRC. Advocacy and Knowledge Management Training Capacity Building Enhanced Recovery Operations Priority for Action 5 Strengthen disaster preparedness for effective response at all levels Continuous collaboration with and support for Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN) Training for local officers on disaster management (Japan s Initiative for ASEAN) 7

Over 120 participants registered including: officers in the field of disaster risk management, meteorology, hydrology, environment and development in Asian countries, experts involved in disaster risk reduction, representatives of UN agencies and international/regional organizations, Academia, media, NGOs, private sector, civil society, etc. Thank you 9
