4 Data & Storage 30Gb of Storage Each desktop is provisioned with a 40GB hard drive, with Windows taking approximately 10GB, leaving a generous 30GB of personal storage space. Hosted Exchange Each mailbox provides 100GB of storage Data Backup We take hourly snapshots of the server using ShadowCopy and 4-hourly snapshots using Veeam, so that we can rollback to previous versions of files if needs be. 8 FAQs What is a hosted desktop? Essentially your desktop/laptop is cloned and replicated in our Cloud infrastructure complete with all its Apps, programs and documents. Once that is complete your desktop is wiped and you access your hosted desktop via the Internet. This adds a layer of security & accessibility and gives you the convenience to work from anywhere using any device Does the data still belong to me if it is in the Cloud? What is the setup process like? What do I need to deploy a hosted desktop solution? Is my data not more secure onsite with me or at my place of business? With us absolutely! Some other Cloud providers sneak a clause in their contracts which states that the data belongs to them. Be careful of these providers Setup is really straightforward. Once your order is placed, our PRINCE2 certified project managers will agree a set-up and migration plan which suits you with minimal disruption to your business A virtual desktop can run on any device that has internet connectivity and Remote Desktop Service (RDS) which means most smartphones and tabs, as well as PC (minimum Windows XP) and Mac Not really! In fact, with robust Cloud encryption now available, storing data in the Cloud tends to be safer than storing it onsite. Significant investment would be needed to make an onsite solution match the security and reliability of the Cloud Is a virtual machine really faster than a physical machine? Sometimes yes, and sometimes no it depends on the spec of the machine and the task(s) at hand. The reason why a Cloud based machine is superior to a physical machine is because of its reliability, security and zero maintenance. For certain applications (such as intensive graphic/3d design) the VM will typically be somewhat slower than a custom-built physical machine, however many of our customers (such as architects and designers) feel that the trade-off between the slightly lower speed and the much better security and accessibility makes it worth switching to VM How much is it to set-up my new Cloud based system? How much does it cost to migrate from my old cloud provider to you? We charge a small set-up fee, seeing as every build is bespoke. 9 FAQs What assurances do I get with you? Where will my data be held? Is it in the UK? Would I still be able to use the printer/ scanner/ fax etc. in my office? What happens if you go out of business? We have gone through rigid assessments in order to be a Microsoft Silver Partner as well as ISO 9001, and Cyber Essentials certified. The accreditations guarantee the quality and security of our systems and services. We also have 2-hour financially backed SLA With a hosted desktop, all the data, files and programs you need to run your business are stored on servers at our UKbased ISO secure data centres. Your desktop uses the internet to connect to those servers and deliver everything you need to your device If the printer/ scanner/ fax/ previously ran on the machine from which you are running your virtual desktop, then it will also work on the virtual desktop Venom It has been at the forefront of technology since 2009 so you can be sure that our business model works, but we don t expect you to risk your business on our reputation. As such, we ve established some additional security measures to keep you safe, no matter what happens to us. First and foremost, your data belongs to you, so you can request this at any point. More than this, to provide added peace of mind we also offer a service which copies your server onto a drive, which we then courier to you periodically. So, if for any reason you were unable to access any of our services (e.g. if we went under), you d have a local copy of your data that you can refer back to. Finally, all our service providers are paid 3 month in advance, which means that even in the unlikely event of Venom IT going out of business, the trustees handling the wind-up will be able to allow you to access and remove your data.
