31 Category Components PREREQUISITES Address minimum performance features Do not exist in all categories Absolutely required Must be met in all categories regardless of whether credits are pursued in that category Not worth points CREDITS Weighted based on environmental impacts & human benefits Exist in all categories Optional Worth points Always positive whole numbers Tallied on scorecards/checklists

32 Point System 100 points + 10 bonus = 110 available points Credits are weighted depending on how effective the credit addresses the 7 categories Categories are also weighted based on: Scale, scope, severity and relative contribution of the built environment to the impact Focus on energy efficiency and CO 2 reduction strategies

33 Levels of Certification Platinum 80 points and higher Gold 100 possible base points + 10 bonus points (ID + RP) points Silver points Certified points

35 Part IV: THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS

36 LEED Project Administrator Responsible for: Coordination between all disciplines Registering a project Granting access for team members to LEED-Online (online project management system) Managing documentation process after project registration through certification

37 LEED-Online Applies to all projects Register LEED projects Submit project documentation Receive reviewer feedback Learn certification level earned Credit Interpretation Requests (CIRs) and appeals Only visible to invited team members

38 MPRs 3 Minimum Program Requirements (MPRs): Critical components not listed on a project scorecard, but are confirmed when registering a project on LEED-Online Mandatory for a project to receive certification 1. Must Be in a Permanent Location on Existing Land 2. Must Use Reasonable LEED Boundaries 3. Must Comply with Project Size Requirements
