11 Relationship with Taiwan SAHTECH SAHTECH: Safety & Health Technology Center, Taiwan SAHTECH has contributed to Safety & Health in semiconductor and TFT-LCD industry many years. Working on national inventory and new chemical registration, as well as toxic chemical substance control, and POPs etc. on behalf of interagency, the Taiwan EPA. Through several meetings last year and this year, relationship between JAMP & SAHTECH has become better and better. We would like to start tangible activities each other.

16 JAMP Interoperability JAMP has been vigorously communicated with major global initiatives to achieve interoperability 1. In principle, IMDS compatible data definition 2. Cooperation with IEC (material declaration standard) development 3. Communication with NIST (US) to achieve interoperability between JAMP/AIS and IPC 1752 (based on JIG standard) 4. ENVIRON and JAMP have begun to discuss the possibility of data conversion on chemical substance information between BOMcheck and JAMP-tool. 16

17 JAMP Referenced in ISO ISO "Guidance on social responsibility First edition included JAMP in "Table A.1 - Examples of crosssectoral initiatives Fee-based membership information exchange program to help organizations comply with legal requirements on chemical substances in products. Provides datasheet formats to describe and transfer information on chemical substances contained in products as well as an IT infrastructure to exchange datasheets. It conducts education and training sessions to disseminate its schemes. 17

18 JAMP References in the Information on Chemicals in Electronic Products ( * ) ( * ) Prepared by the International Chemical Secretariat, ChemSec, for the United Nations Environment Programme --- Non-edited draft, 18 February 2011 With regard to electrical equipment and electronic devices, the Japanese industry consortium Joint Article Management Promotion-consortium, JAMP, has developed an information system which facilitates the management of information on chemicals in the up-stream part of products life-cycles. In addition to MSDS, JAMP utilizes JAMP MSDSplus for the purpose of information control in the upstream and midstream processes concerning substances and preparations contained in the products. Article Information Sheet, AIS, is utilized for preparations in the downstream processes. The JAMP-Global Portal is being operated in order to share compiled chemical substance information among the upstream, midstream and downstream sides. 18

19 While information sharing concerning hazardous substances is promoted through JAMP, information on valuable substances, particularly gold, silver, indium and other expensive precious metals and rare metals, has not yet been included in the scope of information collection, even in the supply chain. Similarly, webbased databases concerning substances that are hazardous or have an environmental impact are only utilized in JAMP in the supply chain, and are not yet shared with consumers, recyclers or treatment businesses. In the case of recycling marks or J-Moss marks, which only include a limited number of chemical substances within their scope, it is considered feasible to implement marking or labelling for communicating information from the supply chain to the consumption stage, and then to the recycling chain. 19

21 Experiences in JAMP regarding REACH 1. Our experiences showed that the supply chain in Asia, a factory area for the world, there a large number of SMEs also having many suppliers for themselves; total view of the supply chain is very complex and wide. 2. The fact above indicates that we should continue our improvement gradually by starting from a simple and internationally harmonised system 3. Not only the tool but also a guidelines for Small and Medium Enterprises are crucial factor to promote this process.
