2 ABOUT UNEP FI United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a partnership between United Nations Environment and the global finance sector, which has been promoting sustainable finance since it was founded at the 1992 Earth Summit. UNEP FI engages a broad range of banks, insurers and investors in deploying finance to advance sustainable development. Signatories to UNEP FI s Statement of Commitment on Sustainable Development are working to integrate environmental considerations into all aspects of operations and services. UNEP FI is working on changing financing to reduce environmental and social risks, and financing change in the real economy to contribute to the Sustainable Development Agenda for ABOUT FINANCE FOR TOMORROW Finance for Tomorrow is an initiative led by Paris EURO- PLACE and the actors of the Paris Financial Center to promote sustainable finance in France and internationally. Chaired by Philippe Zaouati, CEO of Mirova, Finance for Tomorrow now gathers around 50 members with the objective to contributes to a shift in financial flows towards a low-carbon and inclusive economy, in live with the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

3 This year, UNEP FI and Finance for Tomorrow are partnering to jointly organize the Global Roundtable and Climate Finance Day in Paris, France. Showcase your brand at the UNEP FI Global Roundtable and Climate Finance Day. These key agenda-setting events on sustainable finance will bring together hundreds of leaders from all parts of the financial system as well as from business, civil society, academia, government and the United Nations. 3

4 WHY IS THE GLOBAL ROUNDTABLE IMPORTANT? UNEP FI s biennial Global Roundtable has become the major global agenda-setting event on sustainable finance matters. The GRT convenes decision-makers and thought leaders across banking, insurance and investment, and helps shape approaches to integrating environmental, social and governance issues. The event in 2018 will highlight the development of products with positive environmental, social and economic impacts, explore emerging approaches to climate disclosure in the financial sector, provide invaluable insight into current innovation and best practice, and identify trends and issues on the horizon at a global level. The event provides an opportunity for UNEP FI s members worldwide and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, experiences and ideas. High-profile speakers, experts and industry leaders will provide insight into next-generation approaches to financing that supports an inclusive, green and resilient economy and society. The GRT provides a platform, to showcase achievements and inform strategies for the future, aiming to catalyze action to advance sustainable finance. OVERVIEW OF THE GLOBAL ROUNDTABLE NOVEMBER 2018 The GRT 2018 will be held on November 2018 and in conjunction with Paris Climate Finance Day on 28 November 2018, organized by Finance for Tomorrow. The proposed theme for the GRT 2018 will be a focus on solution building across banking, insurance and investment, featuring experts in topics such as next generation climate and environmental risk assessments and disclosure, Europe s action plan for sustainable finance, integrating sustainability into business models, sciencebased targets, aligning finance with the UN Climate Change and Sustainable Development Goals, innovation in conservation finance, energy efficiency, resilient cities, sustainable underwriting, natural capital, human rights and investors duties. The event will be held over two days and provide opportunities for financial institutions and other stakeholders to come together and learn from our network of experts and practitioners about emerging trends, tools, policies and practices to address challenges and develop opportunities for resilient growth. The event will provide an opportunity for: Influencing/demonstrating leadership in integrating environmental, social and governance factors across financial products and services. Transforming financial institutions and markets. Leading financial institutions to explore actions to mitigate risks and scale up green business lines. Enable peer-to-peer learning and knowledge sharing across the globe. The agenda will be developed in collaboration with UNEP FI s members, key partners and a GRT Steering Group. Members, partners and supporters who are experts in their field may be asked to speak at the conference. A flagship of Parisian architectural heritage, the Palais Brongniart provides a prestigious venue in the very heart of the French capital. Located in the Vivienne district, between the place de la Concorde and the Louvre Museum, the Palais Brongniart is ideally situated within close proximity to major city spots, and offers historic Paris reception venues. France is at the centre of the movement to accelerate sustainable finance. PARTICIPANTS GRT 2018 is expected to attract over 600 delegates coming from a diverse group of sustainable finance stakeholders including; financial institutions, industry associations, government, CEOs, ESG specialists, asset managers, civil society, regulatory bodies and academia. 4

5 HIGHLIGHTS OF THE GRT 2016 Since UNEP FI s GRT was held in Dubai in 2016, the sustainable finance agenda has advanced across the Middle East & North Africa, catalyzing events and collaboration to start building sustainable finance hubs in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco etc. Globally, the event helped to build the global network of finance practitioners and thought leaders in sustainable finance; informed the development of a dashboard to benchmark financial institutions on sustainability; introduced a supplement providing guidance on Natural Capital accounting for financial institutions; and witnessed the commitment of ten financial institutions to sustainable development. Furthermore, the event brought significant impacts to the region, such as: By Q1, 2017 the Dubai Declaration on Sustainable Finance has now been signed by 34 United Arab Emirates financial institutions. They are currently working to explore a second phase to step up the work on Sustainable Finance with the UAE financial institutions. Financial institutions from Jordan and the United Arab Emirates committed to the principles of sustainable finance by becoming the signatories of the UNEP Statement of Commitment by Financial Institutions on Sustainable Development, joining UNEP FI as new members. 6 The Climate Finance Day (CFD) is the flagship event of Finance for Tomorrow, the initiative launched by Paris EUROPLACE and more than 50 actors of the French Financial center to promote sustainable finance in France and internationally. Since the first edition in Paris in 2015 to prepare the COP21, the aim of the event is to mobilize the financial sector towards a low-carbon economy and a more sustainable financial system. The Climate Finance Day is a leading international event fostering commitments of the leading market players, showcasing the most innovative solutions for sustainable and green investments, and enabling a concrete, result-oriented dialogue between public and private sector. In 2015, the Climate Finance Day concentrated on How to shift the trillions? and the re-direction of capital flows towards a low-carbon economy. The second edition in 2016, organized with Casablanca Finance City Authority for COP22, aimed at moving to action, in particular in Africa. The Climate Finance Day 2017, held on the eve of the One Planet Summit and organized jointly with the Ministry for the Economy and Finance, focused on accelerating the mobilization and ongoing commitments. A 4 DEGREES WORLD IS NOT INSURABLE Declaration of Henri de Castries, CEO of Axa, at Climate Finance Day 2015 OVERVIEW OF CLIMATE FINANCE DAY 2018 On November 28 th 2018, three years after COP21, the 4 th edition of the Climate Finance Day will build on the steady and growing financial sector mobilization and on the political momentum in France, in Europe and in China. These two aspects are essential to mainstream best practices and to align the financial system with the sustainable development goals and the Paris Agreement at a global scale. The Climate Finance Day 2018 will include both private and public sectors issues, especially concerning the European agenda and the works of the EU High Level Expert Group (HLEG) on Sustainable Finance. In addition, the event will foster concrete commitments and actions from the financial sector both in developing and emerging countries. 6

7 HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CFD 2017 The Climate Finance Day 2017 took stock of climate action in the financial sector since the Paris Agreement was signed at COP21. The event highlighted the important steps of the financial community to tackle climate change. The mobilization of capital for the low-carbon transition is well underway, and there is concrete progress in the financial community towards more resilient growth, regulation, risk management, green technologies and infrastructures, as well as financing tools and products. The theme of the Climate Finance Day 2017 was Acceleration! to underline that the financial sector is acting concretely to align with the Paris Agreement s 2 degrees objective. The event showcased recent initiatives and innovations from the financial sector to accelerate the adoption of forward-looking strategies around the world. On the eve of the One Planet Summit, the 3 rd Climate Finance Day brought together in Paris a high-level and international audience major market players and policy makers in order to address three main topics: Risks and opportunities related to climate change: transparency and beyond; A new deal between finance and the real economy; Renewal of public-private cooperation ATTENDEES SPEAKERS TRENDING TOPIC FRANCE ON TWITTER MAIN COMMITMENTS: PRESS ARTICLES 50+ COUNTRIES REPRESENTED Bruno Le Maire, French Minister for the Economy and Finance, claimed his support to the TCFD recommendations, along with its Swedish counterpart and in presence of Michael Bloomberg, Chair of FSB-TCFD. In addition, he announced that French individual investors savings will be more clearly oriented towards the low-carbon economy. The 6 main French public investors, representing $600bn in assets, signed the Institutional Investors Charter to include ESG criteria to their investment policies. European industrials representing 22bn of Green Bonds emissions signed the Paris Green Bonds Pledge calling for market development. Private sponsors of the CFD announced: (i) Amundi, creation of a Green Bonds funds dedicated to Emerging Markets in partnership with IFC, (ii) Axa, retraction of carbon mines insurance, (iii) BNP Paribas, retraction of non-conventional fossil fuels, (iv) HSBC, direction of USD100 billion in sustainable financing and investment by 2025 (v) Natixis, use of an internal carbon price.
