2 Overview:- HexData is an import/export tool based on Joomla CMS. It provides you a very simple and flexible way to add/update data to your Website. It also allows you to keep a backup of your website data in CSV format on your system. Since It's not built for any particular component, hence you can use it to add data into any of the Joomla Extension and take backup of any Joomla Extension. It can also be used to migrate your Joomla version 1.6, 1.7 & 2.5.x data to latest Joomla version 2.5.x & 3.x Features & Benefits :- - Allows you to create different profiles for different component's data. - Allows you to import Data into any of the available component tables. - Allows you to export Data from any of the available component tables. - Allows you to only add / update data into the desired columns, you can simply choose to skip remaining columns. - Allows you to define the format of data for each column. - Allows you to set a default column value for all the records to be imported - Automatically matches your CSV columns with your Database table columns - Supports Extensions to match your very specific requirements. - Import any CSV file, regardless of size or number of columns. - Very flexible to every change. Technical Specifications :- The minimum requirements to run HexData are: - Joomla! 1.6, 1.7, 2.5.x or 3.x - PHP MySQL We recommend: - Joomla! 2.5.x or 3.x - PHP MySQL

Component Installation :- 1- Login to your administrator panel 2- Install HexData Package Select HexData Package zip file and click upload & Install button.

You ll get a installation successful message and the links to our support forum and other social media links. In case you need to get in contact with us. We ll always be responsive within a short span of time. Once Package is installed you can reach it components -> HexData from the Top Menu.

4 HexData Setup :- 1- HexData Control Panel 2- Profile Manager Listing layout HexData supports extension specific Plug-ins to extend the functionality as per your requirement. You get one Custom Plug-in with the component. You can see it in profiles. There is a default profile created to install Data in Joomla Articles. To import Data in Joomla articles just go to import view, you don t need to do anything in profiles section as The profile is there by default. If you want to import data in any other table, you can create another profile. Here are the steps to create a new profile. 1. Click New Button 2. Select the table you want to import Data in 3. When you select the tables, it automatically loads all of the columns available in the selected table. 4. For each column there are four options to choose from a) Skip (Choose If you don t want to insert/update this column) b) Data File (Choose If you want to insert/update data in this column from CSV file) c) As Defined (Choose If you want to insert/update a defined value in this column for all the records) d) Reference To (Choose if This column is a reference ID of another table and you want to match your CSV data with that table)

5 5. If you choose Data File then a dropdown will appear alongside which will ask you to select the data type of the column in CSV file. 6. If you choose As defined then textfield will appear alongside where you need to enter the value to be inserted into database e.g. 1 in published column to make all the inserted/updated records published. 7. Click on save button. 8. A new profile is ready to import data in the desired table. If the custom Plug-in which comes by default with the component doesn t fulfills your requirement, get in touch with us, to create a new plug-in for you requirement.

6 Import Manager :- This is the view to import the Data in any Table. Here are the steps to import the data. 1- Please select your profile you have created from dropdown and upload your csv or you can ftp your CSV file in administrator/components/com_hexdata/uploads/data.csv file, as per your profile created by you.

7 2- Once you browse your CSV file click on continue button then system redirected to new layout given below. Title, fulltext, Catid, alias etc are the fields name we have created in Profile manager. Please select corresponding Values from the dropdown. 3- Click on Import now icon. Data Export :- Profile creation procedure is same for both import and export. If you want to export any table data,

8 Please create separate profile for each table as per above procedure and click on export link. Please check it below screenshot.
