The EFI Fiery controllers incorporate workflow utilities designed to considerably reduce pre-preparation time and to easily maintain consistency in the finished output. EFI Impose (optional) Powerful, intuitive, application-independent, the EFI Impose is a free-flow imposition platform which guarantees WYSIWYG. There are a large number of pre-installed templates available e.g. a variety of booklet page arrangements, all of which can be easily customised and then separately stored. At the Command WorkStation a complete pre-print can be viewed. Worthy of note: Variable Data Print (VDP) jobs enjoy the same functions as non-vdp jobs. Processes are pre-defined and standards are maintained independently from this layout software. Therefore the processing occurs in-rip thus freeing up work stations. A Hot Folder normally contains all the necessary settings for the print driver, ColorWise colour settings and Fiery Impose. A PDF, PS or EPS file is simply copied to the relevant Hot Folder where, automatically, all print settings are applied after which the job is downloaded for printing. The powerful alternative is the Virtual Printer which can accept documents from any application. The settings for each Virtual Printer can be exactly defined by the Administrator to guarantee document standards e.g. within the company or for external clients. This assures simplified workflow and document consistency for all operators. USB Media Server The uploading of print data from a USB stick or hard disc is fully supported at the high speed USB port. Automatic uploading is possible by sending the file to one of the named Fiery print queues. In combination with a Virtual Printer the job receives a complete workflow without requiring a PC, Mac, or print application. Virtual Printer and Hot Folder (optional) Two advanced utilities which enhance productivity, heighten standards and maintain organisational conformity through pre-definition and streamlining of workflows. Variable Data Printing (VDP) Serial letters and direct mailings are a welcome advanced feature. The first driver tab can be modified to include particular functions which are most frequently required. Authentication Box Function Personal print files or customer related documents can be protected when stored in a box, which appears to be a normal data folder. Reprint of jobs and up/download of files are therefore immediately accessible. Security User information and stored data remain secure in the Fiery controller. Among the security utilities are SSL and TSL communication which can be setup for all LDAP or data transmission between the Fiery controller and the internal server. In addition, IP addresses can be filtered and network ports can be blocked. As a result, for example, secure communication with selected trusted clients is guaranteed. Typical authorised user privileges include right-to-print and access-to-colour. Authentication provides a secure workflow, easier administration and tighter budget control. User information can easily be imported from existing databases as Fiery controllers support LDAP and Windows Active Directory.
