1 Instructions for Home Access Center The following illustrates what you will see when you log in to Home Access Center (HAC). Login Screen Here is where you will login using the username and password that was sent or obtained from My Students Screen If you have more than one student in the district AND your guardian information has been linked between each child, you will see the My Students link after you log in. Click on the student you wish to view. If you have a different account for each child, you will not see the My Students screen. Main Screen / Daily Summary This is the screen you will see first or if you click the Daily Summary link. 1. Today s Attendance will be blank if your child is present. If your child is absent, it will be blank until the office enters daily attendance. 2. Today s Schedule will always reflect the current schedule. If you look at this over the weekend, do not be surprised to see nothing scheduled. 3. The Classwork area will list any assignments due this week. It will list both pending and graded assignments. Please note that if a teacher elects not to publish assignments, nothing will appear here. 4. The Incidents area will list any discipline information for the current week. Notice the comment bubble located in both the Classwork for this Week and the Today s Schedule boxes. If you click on the bubble, the class notes box will appear. Any notes a teacher has elected to publish will appear in the box.

2 If you click on any of the course names, a pop-up box will appear listing all of the course details. If you click on any of the assignment names, a pop-up box will appear giving all the details about the assignment. Note that it does not report what the student earned. If the teachers name appears in blue, it means the teacher s address is available. If you click on the name, one of two things will happen: 1. If you are on your own computer and you use an program like Outlook or Outlook Express, and if your Web browser is configured correctly, your program will start and you will be able to send an to the teacher you have selected. 2. If you are using a Web based program or your Web browser is incorrectly configured, nothing will happen and you will not be able to send an . Both of these scenarios depend on how your computer is configured and cannot be controlled by the district. The Schedule Link When you click on the Schedule link, the student s full schedule will appear. Note that all semesters are displayed here. If you click on any of the links, they have the same behavior as noted on the main screen.

3 The Attendance Link When you click on the Attendance link, the following screen will appear. You can navigate through the months of the current school year. If you hover over a given date, you will see available details for that date. The Discipline Incidents Link If you click on the Discipline Incidents link, the table below will appear. The first thing to notice is that this is a cumulative report. It contains every incident recorded in the system regardless of school year. When you click on the incident description link for a specific incident, a pop-up will appear listing the details of the incident. When you click on the incident role link for a specific incident, a pop-up will appear listing the information about the student s role in the incident and any actions (disciplinary actions) that were taken. The Classwork Link When you click on the Classwork link, the following screen appears. A few things to note right away: 1. You can use the drop-down lists to select any combination of course and/or report card run and then select a sort method. It is not possible to view prior year records. 2. If a teacher has elected not to publish information, the course will be listed followed by a note that no classwork was found for that course/report card run. 3. Each row includes quite a bit of detail about the assignment. 4. Clicking on the assignment link will again open the assignment detail pop-up. If the teacher has included a note for the student on a specific assignment, the note will be flagged with a call-out bubble. By hovering over the bubble the note will appear. At the bottom of the course list of assignments is the averages area. What is displayed here is determined by the choices made by the teacher. Points versus averages and weighted versus unweighted categories/assignments will all affect what is displayed here. However, when all is said and done, the student s current total average is displayed.

4 The Show All Averages button will show a summary of all averages on file from any/all marking periods. The Report Cards link Secondary Only When you click on the Report Cards link, this screen will appear. You can use the drop-down list to select any of the marking periods on file. Only current year information is available. The Registration Link When you click on the Registration link, the following screen will appear. Click Edit Information to add or change your address. You cannot make any other changes or additions here. Please contact the office at your child s school to advise of any other changes.

5 My Profile If you click the My Profile link, you can edit your password. If you click Logout in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, a warning message will appear asking if you are sure you wish to exit Home Access Center. Click OK to exit the program.
