2 Introduction This release of WorldShare Management Services provides two new features in addition to numerous bug fixes. The new features are the direct result of user feedback. Recommended actions For this release, we recommend that you review the following checklists and complete the relevant tasks so that you can adjust your policies and workflows and train your staff. These checklists identify updates that we have determined as significant for most institutions. We encourage you to review all of the items in the release notes to determine whether there are other items that might require additional action or follow up by your institution. Administrative actions Determine whether your library wants to utilize automatic check-in receipt notification and configure notification policies in Service Configuration. Libraries using SIP2: Determine whether your library wants to utilize passwords on patron authentication and configure policies in Service Configuration Page 3 Page 4 2

3 Circulation New Features Check-in Receipt Notification You can now optionally send an automatic check-in receipt notification to your patrons for items that have been returned to the library. Once set up, the system will periodically review all check-ins that have taken place since the last time and will send a check-in receipt notification to all patrons that have addresses in their patron record. Default is to not send check-in receipt notifications. The item details included on the check-in receipt notification are based on the item details include on the check-in receipt and will include any check-in receipt customizations defined by the library. Setting up the new Automatic Check-in Receipt Notification feature is a two-step process. 1. First go to Service Configuration and create a new Notification Policy with a type of Automatic Checkin Receipt Notification. 2. After creating and saving a Checkin Receipt Notification Policy go to Admin/General > Additonal Patron Notifications and select the new Notification from the drop-down box and save. 3

4 The new feature is now active and all patrons with an address in their patron record will receive a check-in receipt notification. SIP2 Password Authentication Libraries that use SIP2 machines and authenticate through standard WMS authentication or institutionsupplied LDAP can now require that patrons provide the same password used when logging in when doing certain actions. This is an optional requirement and must be set up in Service Configuration. The default is to not require passwords. Bug Fixes SIP2 Patron Information Request Returning Incorrect Date of Birth Whenever a Patron Information Request (63) was made, the Patron Information Response (64) contained an incorrect Date of Birth in the PB field. The dates in the PB field were the day before the actual date configured in the patron record. The correct Date of Birth is now being returned in response to a Patron Information Request. 4

5 Problems with displaying and printing umlauts in Circulation and Service Configuration In Service Configuration and the Circulation module, the presence of umlauts in policies and patron records prevented them from displaying. In addition the presence of umlauts in the header or footer of a receipt prevented the receipt from printing on POS printers. Records with umlauts are now displaying correctly and receipts with umlauts in the header and/or footer can now be printed on POS printers. Copies owned on the bibliographic tool tip does not always match the number copies (LHRs) on the record for the library. Copies owned count now accurately represents the number of copies (LHRs) on the bibliographic record for the library. Alphabetic characters cannot be added to the copy field. Free Text Hold Requests from the Patron Interface are not using the Default Holdings Branch Designated by the Library in Service Configuration.
