About this Document This document highlights new and enhanced features included in the 11.9 release of the RelayClinical Platform service. These Release Notes provide users, staff, and partners with details you need to get up and running with the new features and enhancements. What We Include in this Document For every major enhancement, this document provides: A brief description of the new feature, enhancement, or workflow Instructions to help you get started with setup and administration, if applicable Screenshots to highlight changes to the user interface Your Feedback Matters At RelayHealth, we place high value on our customer, partner, and staff member feedback. Please take a moment to let us know how we re doing and how we can help you to meet your RelayClinical Platform service goals. You can submit suggestions, corrections, or comments by any of the following methods: Use the Contact RelayHealth link at the bottom of your Home page to send a secure message directly to our Customer Support organization. You can also call our toll-free number and speak to one of our Customer Support representatives from 4:30 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Standard Time. Call RELAY-ME ( ) and select option 1. Speak with your RelayHealth Territory Director or Deployment Specialist. These RelayHealth professionals welcome your suggestions and comments about the service, your experiences with system use, and any concerns you may have. Education Services RelayHealth Education Services has provided a recorded webinar to introduce the new Cancel Orders feature introduced with this release (see page 4 for details). No registration necessary! You can access this brief webinar, at your convenience, from the following link: (2 minutes) 3
New and Enhanced Features in Release 11.9 Inbound ORM Cancel Order Message With this release, we enhanced Inbound HL7 ORM message processing to accept and process order cancellation messages from external systems. This enhancement allows laboratory technicians to view an accurate list of orders in the Registration Manager queue and prevents technicians from transmitting canceled orders or canceled orderables within an order. We have updated the Registration Manager queue, order display, and Advanced Search options to support this new feature. For example: When the RelayClinical service receives an inbound HL7 ORM message that triggers a cancel order event for an existing order, the Registration Manager queue displays a Cancelled or Partial Cancel indicator in the queue to indicate the status of the order. When selected and displayed, the order indicates the item(s) canceled as well as the reason for cancellation. Additionally, Registration Manager users now have the option to search for Cancelled orders using a new Advanced Search filter. When users select the new Cancelled checkbox under Additional Options, search results will include cancelled and partially cancelled orders. 4
ICD9 Search Results Enhancement In response to customer requests, we ve enhanced the service s ICD9 diagnosis code search to improve results displayed to end users. When a user searches for diagnosis code by description, all results that contain the searched term and all children, grandchildren, etc. of the code now display in the drop-down result list. Search by code will continue to function as before. Additionally, we ve increased the number of matching results displayed in the drop-down. The result list will now display up to 100 matching results. This enhancement affects the following areas of the service: Messaging -> Colleague Message -> Attach PHR -> Diagnosis Search Messaging -> Referral Message -> Diagnosis Search Messaging -> Reply To Referral Message -> Diagnosis Search Orders -> Create New Order -> Orderables -> Diagnosis Search Progress Note -> Assessment Tab -> Diagnosis Search Progress Note -> Billing Tab -> Diagnosis Search Patient PHR -> Add Diagnosis -> Diagnosis Search Build Patient List -> Diagnosis Search 5
Deny Order Options Enhancement In response to customer requests, we ve enhanced the Orders Registration Manager Deny Orders pop-in to include additional Deny Order options. When denying an order, Registration Manager users will now have the following additional options when indicating the reason for the denial. Patient Name is Incorrect Patient Date of Birth is Incorrect Order Has Expired Users can select any one of the reasons with just one click using a radio button, and if additional detail is required, users still have the ability to enter notes into the free-text box at the bottom of the pop-in. Active/Inactive Patient ID Enhancement We ve enhanced RelayHealth s inbound HL7 message processing in this release to allow the service to change an inactive/past Patient ID, received from a sending system, to an active Patient ID. This enhancement, which is configurable for each message connection to and from RelayHealth, will allow for better management of Patient IDs that may have changed to inactive/past IDs as a result patient merge workflows and ADT A40 (Merge Patient) messages 6
Service Corrections In this release, we made the following service corrections in response to customer- and staff-reported issues: We corrected an issue in which one customer reported that inpatient results that should have automatically archived were not appropriately blocked appropriately from auto-release to the PHR. We corrected an issue with the automated Coverage Group Import process that caused an incorrect URL to be generated for a provider s RelayClinical service web page. We corrected a CCD Vital Signs issue in which the service ran a validation against the degree symbol. Going forward, the service will validate temperature against F or C to parse Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature data. We corrected an issue with the Active Medications list that incorrectly allowed an active medication to be hidden under an unexpanded medication group. We corrected an interoperability issue in which once customer reported that outbound ORU messages included the provider ID twice. We corrected an issue in the Patient Education service that caused an error in image media content. Due to this error, images in Patient Education failed to display to end users. We corrected an issue that caused one customer to receive time out errors when attempting to run a Patient Invitation report. We corrected an issue in RelayHealth-generated CCDs identified the incorrect code system for No Known Allergies entries. Prior to this correction, the CCD indicated the code system as RxNorm. We ve corrected the CCD to specify the correct coding system: SNOMED. We corrected a CCD ICD9 parsing issue in which the service attempted to find the ICD9 code in the incorrect OID location. We corrected a CCD parsing issue which prevented the service from recognizing Problem entries included in the translation element. This correction will allow the service to recognize ICD9 codes or text included in the translation element and parse the data as a Problem entry. We corrected an issue in which patients attempting to log in to HealthVault received a Service Failed message. We corrected an inbound CCD issue in which the service failed to process the CCD if it contained and unrecognized LOINC code or no code for vital signs. Going forward, the service will process the CCD, but will not display the uncoded or unrecognized vital sign. We corrected an issue in which the Patient Education error page displayed the incorrect Customer Support phone number. We corrected a display bug that incorrectly indicated that one practice s users had view access into another practice s inbox. This was a display bug only, and the bug did not actually provide access to inboxes or patient data between practices. We corrected an issue in which users logged in to more than one practice inappropriately received autogenerated notifications (e.g., New Practice Member) sent to all administrative users in the group. We corrected an issue in which clinicians using Firefox 5 received an Invalid Filename error in colleague and referral message workflows when attempting to add a message attachment. 7
Development Update We ve begun the development process for the features and service enhancements listed below. Look for detailed communications related to these items in the near future. Inbound ORM Add-on Orders This feature is intended to allow EMR users to add additional tests to an order that has already transmitted and been received into the RelayHealth Orders Registration Manager queue. When completed, this feature will allow facility users to transmit only the additional test(s) rather than retransmitting the entire order. This feature will also allow Registration Manager users to select from a list of existing Patient Account Numbers at the time of transmission overriding the process to request a new account number creation. Parse Inbound and Bi-directional CCD Immunization Data This feature is intended support customers who use the RelayClinical service s clinical reporting features to send data to immunization registries. When completed, this feature will enhance Inbound and Bi-directional CCD processing to parse every immunization element. When a sending system transmits a CCD with all immunization elements populated, RelayHealth will have the ability to parse out every element and update the patient s RelayClinical Record with the data. This will allow RelayHealth to send the immunization data received in the CCD to immunization registries on demand. Parse Inbound CCD Preferred Language Data This feature is intended to enhance Inbound CCD processing. When completed, this feature will allow the service to parse out the patient s Preferred Language and add this data to the patient s RelayClinical Record. 8
