5 CHAPTER 1 Release Notes These Release Notes apply to Cisco MediaSense Release 9.1(1). New Features, page 1 Upgrade Considerations, page 2 Open and Resolved Defects, page 2 Bug Search Tool, page New Features Video Playback In addition to its primary media recording functionality, Cisco MediaSense offers the ability to play back specific video media files on demand. This capability is designed to support Video in Queue (ViQ), Video on Demand (VoD), or Video on Hold (VoH) use cases, in which a separate call controller invites Cisco MediaSense into an existing video call in order to play a previously designated recording. An administrator can upload studio-recorded videos in MP4 format and configure individual incoming dialed numbers to automatically play those uploaded videos. The call controller causes the video to be played by sending a SIP Invite to Cisco MediaSense at the selected dialed number. Video Media File Upload and Management Customers can now upload their own mp4 video files to MediaSense. A new administration screen allow videos to be listed, previewed, downloaded, and deleted. A description of the video can also be added and edited. Incoming Call Handling Rules -- Customers can now configure whether incoming calls are recorded or rejected. They can also initiate a one-time or continuous playback of an uploaded media file and they can configure different rules for different incoming addresses (as well as a default rule for all incoming addresses which are not otherwise specified). New OVA Template A new OVA template (replacing the previous one) reserves 16GB of vram for all supported UCS B- and C-series servers. There is no change in the VM settings for SRE installations. 1
6 Upgrade Considerations Release Notes Answer File Generator Similar to other products in the Cisco Unified Communications portfolio, MediaSense now supports the use of an Answer Filer Generator tool for silent installation of up to five nodes. Native Search and Play Application With Built-in Media Player You can access the Search and Play application at server Primary or secondary IP>:8440/mediasense The application allows users to search for recordings by various attributes and then to download or play the files. The player can play any codecs that can be recorded (whereas off-the-shelf players such as VLC and QuickTime cannot play g.722 or g.729 at this time). Before using the player, ensure you have JDK version 7.11 (or higher) installed on the client machine where you will be running the application. (If the client machine is running on Windows, select the 2-bit version.) Search and Play should only be used when the call rate is less than 100 calls per 0 minutes. Expandable media storage disks Users can now configure a new disk partition in VMWare whenever it is required and add that disk to either the recordedmedia or uploadedmedia folder in MediaSense. New administrative screens enable the user to manage their disk space. Upgrade Considerations Cisco MediaSense can be upgraded from release 9.0(1) to 9.1(1). Systems running on an earlier release of MediaSense must first upgrade to release 9.0(1) before upgrading to release 9.1(1). Before upgrading to release 9.1(1), users must upgrade their vram to 16GB. There are no changes to the MediaSense API in this release. See the Upgrade section of the MediaSense User Guide for information on performing the upgrade to release 9.1(1). Open and Resolved Defects Open defects are those that Cisco plans to fix in a future product release. Resolved defects are those that have been fixed since the last release.
