3 Rationale The world is facing the phenomena of rapidly growing population of the aged, in which there are more elderly people than children The elderly people tend to live longer and hence have to live alone and feel lonely in large part due to healthcare advancement globally and structural social changes This causes a great deal of concerns for loneliness, social isolation, and depression among the elderly

12 Methodology 1. Design and develop an interactive (bidirectional) multimedia delivery system to deliver multimedia contents among elderly people, family members, relatives and friends 2. Conduct usability testing with elderly volunteers to evaluate effectiveness of this system and original remote control 3. Compare effectiveness between this system and original remote control

17 Objective To improve effectiveness of multimedia delivery platform for the elderly The elderly can use tablet PC to send multimedia contents to family members and friends easily The elderly can use tablet PC to control the application on the Elderly TV app instead of using remote control

Multimedia sender (Tablet PC ) o Send message from Tablet PC to web o Select photo/video/audio in Tablet PC and send to web o Take new photo/record video/record audio in Tablet PC and send to web 2. Touchpad (Tablet PC ) o Control cursor on TV app via touchpad feature in Tablet PC 3. Multimedia receiver (TV + Android TV box) o New multimedia notification : notify incoming message/ photo/video/audio that are sent from web while elderly watch TV o New multimedia display : show latest message/ photo/video/audio in the main page of TV app o Multimedia history: show all message/ photo/video/audio that are sent from web 4. Web application o Multimedia inbox : display message/photo/video/audio that are sent by elderly
