9 APNIC s Engagement with the ITU One of the first Internet organizations to join as a Sector Member Participated in different ITU World and Plenipotentiary Conferences Engaging with the ITU membership on IP addressing matters Active contribution with the NRO to the ITU IPv6 Group Group recently closed as no current concerns identified with existing allocation model Co-organization of IPv6 workshop and migration strategies with ITU Regional Office Centre of Excellence since

10 World Conference on International Communications Consideration of changes to the International Telecommunication Regulations (ITRs) Last updated in 1988 APNIC has observed the WCIT preparatory process, regionally (through APT) and globally (through the CWG-WCIT) Special attention to two discussions: Interconnection models supported by the ITRs Number misuse in the ITRs APNIC s position - The ITRs have worked well for telephony, but are difficult to translate onto the Internet 10

11 Internet Governance Forum Predominant global forum for discussing Internet governance issues Includes all sectors of society Seventh annual IGF will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan in November 2012 Paul Wilson, APNIC DG, is participating this year on the IGF s Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) Internet organizations such as APNIC have supported the IGF process intensively since its inception The NRO has doubled its annual contribution to the IGF 11

12 APECTEL - TELMIN Since 2010, the APEC TEL forum has established a clear understanding on the importance of IPv6 Provides continuous support for regional IPv6 deployment through public and private sector partnership Reinforced support for IPv6 in APEC ministerial meeting declaration, TELMIN 9 APNIC participated with RIPE NCC 12
