16 WebSphere Memory Native Memory vs. Java Heap The JVM is a native program running as an OS process. Native memory is the term used to distinguish the memory available to the JVM from the Java heap that a Java application uses. Since the native memory area is the memory for the process left over from the Java heap, the larger the heap, the smaller the native area. Maximum Heap Size For 32bit instances, 1536 is suggested The 64bit instances can safely be set to 2048 For the 31bit platform, 1280 is suggested

17 Database Performance DB2 Automatic maintenance db2 UPDATE DB CFG FOR <database_name> USING AUTO_MAINT ON Reorganize the database <TWA_home>/TWS/dbtools/db2/scripts dbreorg.sh database [user [password]] *TWS's WebSphere must be stopped.
