7 7 1. Introduction Enterprise View now provides National Language Support (NLS). For OS/390 sources it lets you specify an EBCDIC file system code page name (CCSID Coded Character Set Identifier), for the operating system where the product is installed. The specified EBCDIC file system code page name is converted to an ASCII network transfer code page name according to ICONV supported code pages. ASCII ISO standard is used as internal encoding on the Enterprise View UNIX server. It covers the coded character set based on the Latin-1 alphabet which includes Western European languages. Note: Before you start using the NLS options, make sure that FTP ISO standards are supported in your system. The languages covered by ISO are: Albanian Basque Breton Catalan Danish Dutch English Faroese Finnish French (almost complete coverage) Frisian Galician German Greenlandic Icelandic Irish Gaelic (new orthography) Italian Latin Luxemburgish Norwegian Portuguese Rhaeto-Romanic Scottish Gaelic Spanish Swedish If you are migrating from a previous version of this product and want to enable NLS, please contact SupportLine (se.support@microfocus.com) because some parameters have to be changed. Your migrated environment must be kept with NLS disabled, until you receive a reply from SupportLine.

9 9 2. NLS Settings 2.1. Profile file settings To have NLS support, write and export the following three variables in your UNIX profile file: LANG=en_US.ISO export LANG ORA_NLS33=/opt/oracle/ora92/ocommon/nls/admin/data export ORA_NLS33 NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 export NLS_LANG Note: For ORA_NLS33, you must specify the correct location, depending on your Oracle installation folder Environment properties In the environment properties (see Work with Environment Properties in Configuration Manager), there is a section COMMON with the NLS_ENCODING property. The values of this property can be NONE (no NLS support) or ISO Samba setup To set NLS on Samba, follow these steps: 1. Check the version of Samba with the command smbd V. 2. If the Samba version is 3.0+, in the [global] section of the smb.conf configuration file you must have: unix charset = iso display charset = UTF-8 dos charset = UTF-8 3. If the version of Samba is earlier than 3.0 (usually 2.2), in the [global] section of the smb.conf configuration file you must have: client code page = 850

11 11 3. NLS and Agents 3.1. Multi Daemon To start, the Enterprise View daemon checks that NLS is provided. If the NLS_ENCODING value is not NONE, i.e. begins with ISO, its value (the current locale encoding) is compared with that of the LANG variable. If the value is the same, the encoding is supported and the daemon will function properly. If it is not the same, the daemon will stop running. An error message will appear: Comparing of current locale setting and internal encoding failed. Check error log for details. Make sure the value of the LANG variable in your profile file and the value of the NLS_ENCODING environment property are the same (ISO8859-1) and start the daemon again Agent The value of the environment property NLS_ENCODING is compared with that of the LANG parameter. When starting the Agent, you might see an error message appearing: Comparing of current locale setting and internal encoding failed. Check error log for details. In this case, make sure the value of the LANG variable in your profile file and the value of the NLS_ENCODING environment property are the same (ISO8859-1) and start the Agent again AWDCFG.XML Configuration File This configuration file is required for the transmission. It determines in which mode the Agent will be executed. The modes are as follows: - Startup or Life Cycle - Rapid Assessment (offline) In the first mode, the AWDCFG file is provided by the MVS Agent (or other). In the second, it must be manually created by the user. There is a tag in AWDCFG.XML, which is called EVEncoding, which shows what the encoding of the transmission is. Its value is compared with that of the NLS_ENCODING environment property. If they are not the same, a conversion of all transmission files is performed to the internal encoding. If the tag EVEncoding is missing or set to NONE (for example, if sent from other platforms), this means that on the MVS (or source platform) the NLS was DISABLED. If the NLS_Encoding environment parameter is set to NONE or if it is missing on the DB, the transmission will be handled without NLS. If it is not set to NONE the processing of the transmission will stop and the following error message will appear: NLS setting mismatch: please align NLS setting between Enterprise View and Transmission (NONE).

12 12 If the tag EVEncoding is present, this means that NLS was enabled on the MVS (or source platform). If the NLS_ENCODING environment parameter is set to NONE or if it is missing on the DB, the transmission will stop and the following message will appear: NLS setting mismatch: please align NLS setting between Enterprise View (NONE) and Transmission. If it is not set to NONE, the encodings will be compared. If the two encodings are not the same, a conversion of all transmission files will be performed to match their encoding to the internal one Custom Agent The Custom Agent receives the packed.kbs files from the OS/390 systems and unpacks those files into the usual Agent Working Directory, as expected from the standard UNIX Agent. 13 Options NLS options are displayed in the System z EV Agent Work with Enterprise View settings window. There are two new fields: The NLS support field lets you include and exclude NLS. YES includes NLS. When you enter YES, the CCSID value must be specified in the MVS codepage field. NO excludes NLS. In this case, the product works as in earlier versions. The sources are converted according to the default FTP translation of the system where the product is installed. When NLS support is set to NO, the MVS codepage field must have the value NONE. MVS codepage indicates the CCSID. The possible CCSIDs that can be entered when the NLS is included are: o IBM-037 EBCDIC USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Brazil, Portugal o IBM-273 EBCDIC Austria, Germany o IBM-274 EBCDIC Belgium o IBM-275 EBCDIC Brazil o IBM-277 EBCDIC Denmark, Norway o IBM-278 EBCDIC Finland, Sweden o IBM-280 EBCDIC Italy o IBM-281 EBCDIC Japanese English o IBM-284 EBCDIC Spanish o IBM-285 EBCDIC United Kingdom o IBM-297 EBCDIC France o IBM-500 EBCDIC Latin - 1 o IBM-871 EBCDIC Iceland o IBM-1047 EBCDIC Latin 1

16 Java Analyzer Java Analyzer allowed characters with SBCS (single-byte character set) Keywords The following character sequences, formed from ASCII letters, are reserved for use as keywords and cannot be used as identifiers: Keyword: one of abstract continue for new switch assert default if package synchronized boolean do goto private this break double implements protected throw byte else import public throws case enum instanceof return transient catch extends int short try char final interface static void class finally long strictfp volatile const float native super while The keywords const and goto are reserved, even though they are not currently used. This may allow a Java compiler to produce better error messages if these C++ keywords incorrectly appear in programs. While true and false might appear to be keywords, they are technically Boolean literals. Similarly, while null might appear to be a keyword, it is technically the null literal Identifiers An identifier is an unlimited-length sequence of Java letters and Java digits, the first of which must be a Java letter. An identifier cannot have the same spelling as a keyword, boolean literal, or the null literal.
