Introduction This guide is intended to help users of previous Micro Focus products to move to this version of Enterprise View, by guiding you through the changes that you might have to make in migrating applications. This guide will be useful to you if you are coming to this version of Enterprise View from: kb-aim 5.1 kb-aim 5.2 Enterprise View 5.5

9 9 2. Summary of Changes This is a summary of some of the major differences between Enterprise View 5.6 and the previous versions of the product. For more information, see What s New for Enterprise View 5.6. Oracle Client installation is not required, so there are new connection types to the Oracle database: Oracle Call Interface (OCI) and direct. Use OCI if you have Oracle Client installed, otherwise we recommend direct connection. For more information, see the Installation Guide. Enterprise View 5.6 no longer includes DBxServer. National Language Support is provided for some languages in 5.6. New and improved functionalities are in the client modules. The Enterprise View Portal has been improved. For users of kb-aim 5.2 and previous versions, this is a new feature. The installation procedures have been improved, including a new feature Pre-Check (see the Installation Guide ).

11 11 3. Before You Start If you have a previous Micro Focus Enterprise View product installed: We recommend that you make a backup of any Enterprise View system files that you might have changed. After you have installed Enterprise View, you might want to re-apply any changes you previously applied to these files. If you are installing Enterprise View over an existing Enterprise View system, you must delete the existing Enterprise View system first. Alternatively, you might prefer to move your existing Enterprise View system to another directory until you have verified the new installation (though this will stop Enterprise Server in your existing Enterprise View system from working). The configuration parameter file (kbaimenv.conf) will be regenerated after you run a job, starting from the values stored in the database. In order to keep your old settings, send this file to SupportLine (se.support@microfocus.com) before starting the migration, and we will provide a specific DB update. Other.conf files (kbaim.conf and KbXAgent.conf) will be regenerated if you log in as ADMIN user after you install this version of the product. Do not delete the old product folder, because after installation you must copy some configuration files from the old /Job folder to the new /Job folder created by this version of the product. These files are: KbXAgentEnv.conf, KbCodeAnaTrendDate.conf, KbCustAgent.conf and FileTab.txt (if present).

13 13 4. Migration Steps 4.1. Installation For information about the installation steps and procedures, see the Installation Guide New format of the connection definition file The first time you start the new version of Enterprise View, Navigator will detect that the existing file containing connection definition is in an old format. You will be asked if you want to automatically migrate to the new format. Click OK to display the Save As window, and you will be asked to save the file. When the migration is done, the old format will be saved too New connection types In previous versions of the product, the connection types were: Local - Oracle client is installed on your client machine. Socket Oracle client is not installed on your client machine. COM/DCOM - Oracle client is not installed on your client machine, and socket connection is not available. Web - Oracle client is not installed on your client machine, and socket connection is not available. If the connection type is Local, it will be automatically converted to Oracle Call Interface (OCI). If it is Socket, COM/DCOM or Web, it will be converted to Direct connection. This is done manually: a dialog box appears containing a list of names that must be checked. Direct connection does not need the Oracle Client to be installed on the machine, so you can connect to the Oracle database using only TCP/IP. This is why the DBxServer is no longer needed. If you have been using Local connection, but with the new version of the product you prefer using Direct connection, you should open Alias Manager, right-click Alias and select Modify from the popup window. The Alias Manager will appear. Go to Step 2 and change the connection type from OCI to Direct. You then need to provide some information in the boxes below. Oracle DB Name: Enter the name of the Oracle database (SID). Hostname: Enter the name of the Oracle host machine.

14 14 Port: Enter the port number of the Oracle Listener. The default port number is Please contact your System Administrator in order to obtain the Listener Port Number currently associated with the Database. Note: For more information about connection configuration, see the Installation Guide Environment parameters As mentioned in the section Before You Start, in order to update the environment parameters, you must send kbaimenv.conf to SupportLine and we will provide a specific DB update, if needed Navigator Options As mentioned in the section Before You Start, you must copy a set of files (KbXAgentEnv.conf, KbCodeAnaTrendDate.conf, KbCustAgent.conf and FileTab.txt) from the old /Job folder to the new /Job folder created by this version of the product. KbXAgent.conf will be regenerated if you log in as ADMIN user after you install this version of the product. After the product has been installed on the UNIX server, open Navigator, select the Configuration Manager tabsheet and then select Options; the General tabsheet includes the Path of the UNIX Module which should be changed by specifying the location of the new job folder. This is the only path that should be changed: all other folders must remain the same to preserve the existing data. After applying this change, logout from Navigator and login as ADMIN, in order to create all the required configuration files in the new Job folder Object Measures History Update Job In Enterprise View 5.5 and 5.6 the trend information is handled in a different way, so if you are migrating from kb-aim 5.2 or previous versions, it is mandatory to manually submit this job for the current month and for all the packages, as a first operation after completing the upgrade National Language Support Enterprise View now provides National Language Support (NLS) for some languages. This lets you specify an EBCDIC file system code page name (CCSID Coded Character Set Identifier), for the operating system where the product is installed. The specified EBCDIC file system code page name is

15 15 converted to an ASCII network transfer code page name according to ICONV supported code pages. ASCII ISO standard is used as internal encoding. It covers the coded character set based on the Latin-1 alphabet which includes Western European languages. If you are migrating from a previous version of this product and want to enable NLS, please contact SupportLine (se.support@microfocus.com) because some parameters have to be changed. Your migrated environment must be kept with NLS disabled, until you receive a reply from SupportLine DB Update When you are migrating from a previous version of the product to this one, you must perform a DB Update, because your product version and DB version will be different and the product cannot continue working. Please contact SupportLine (se.support@microfocus.com) for help PL/I If migrating a PL/I environment from 5.2, bear in mind that the new PL/I module has been released with an improved measure calculation procedure: the new procedure implements a richer set of counting rules, and also relies on improved recognition capability on the parser side. This will lead to changes in PL/I program measures. Some measures are particularly impacted, namely Halsted, MI and McCabe: tests in the lab have shown that the average difference between 5.6 and 5.2 is about +/ %. It should be pointed out that size measures, instead, are quite stable. Therefore, in order to establish a consistency point in measure history, we strongly recommend that after migration, measures are re-calculated for all PL/I programs. To re-calculate the measures, analysis of PL/I applications must be submitted, specifying in the advanced parameters that only metrics calculation is needed (PL/I programs will be analyzed again with the 5.6 PL/I module, but only metrics information will be loaded in the repository). It is advisable while not necessary - to run a full analysis, in order to take advantage of all the features available in the new version. This operation will avoid having PL/I programs with both 5.2 and 5.6 measures. It is not possible to change old monthly measures: a gap will inevitably appear in monthly measures before and after the migration.

16 Transmission configuration file A new configuration file, AWDCFG.xml, must be present in the Agent transmissions whose structure is described in the API Guide. For transmissions generated by the Enterprise View zseries Agent, please see the EnterpriseView zseries Agent Installation Guide. Where transmissions addressed to Enterprise View were generated by a customized process, a properly configured AWDGCFG.xml must be included.
