UMLet,, MS Visio, Visual Paradigm, SmartDraw) ) FREE software systems *) to learn them and use them to draw: 1) at least Use Case diagram (however, activity or SwimLane diagrams are preferred), 2) DOs/COs diagrams, 3) Context DFD, 4) Level-0 DFDs,, and 5) STD. Visit course web site for details. Use ONE REQUIRED diagramming tool to draw ONLY ONE of the diagrams given below. A total of FIVE tools should be used in this Lab to draw FIVE REQUIRED diagrams relevant to the CURRENT VERSION of the Webster system: Part 1: Current Webster Use-Case diagram (or, Student Activity Diagram, or SwimLane Diagram for several actors).draw Use-Case Diagram with a) at least 10 actors (incl. 5 human beings and 5 non-human human beings) and b) at least 15 functions (relevant to selected actors). Include computer screen snapshot of final diagram into PPT presentation. Part 2: Current Webster Class Objects (CO) Diagram. Draw Class Objects diagrams, including a) CO name, b) at least TEN (10) attributes, their data types and length of each attribute), and c) at least 5 methods for each CO for at least 10 class objects in the current version of Webster,, for example, Student, Course, Department Chair, etc. Specify Data Type (integer, char, string, boolean,, etc.) for each attribute in CO 2 (include computer screen snapshot of final diagram into PPT presentation). entation).

3 Lab 01 Assignment (cont.) Part 3: Part 4: Part 5: Current Webster Context DFD. Draw Context data-flow diagram (DFD) with ONE processing unit and at least TEN (10) class objects (COs) 5 human beings and 5 non-human beings. Provide at least 3 labeled arrows (i.e. methods) from each CO to processing unit and at least 2 labeled arrows (i.e. methods) from processing unit to each CO. Include computer screen snapshot of final diagram into PPT presentation. Current Webster Level-0 0 DFD. Divide the main function of Webster into NINE (9) main sub-functions. Draw Level-0 0 data-flow diagram with labeled sub-functions and arrows in it. Include computer screen snapshot of final diagram into PPT presentation. Current Webster STD. Draw state transition diagram (STD) for the top-level activities (entry, enrollment, etc.) in Webster with at least TEN (10) stable states. Label all events and actions for each state. Include computer screen snapshot of final diagram into PPT presentation. 3

4 Lab 01 Assignment (cont.) Part 6: a) In PPT presentation, specify s name of software system used for EACH diagram. b) Provide an additional slide with your recommendations of software systems to be used for each type of diagrams (amendable SW systems, less amendable a SW systems). c) Create a resulting PPT presentation with all diagrams in PDF format d) Name your PPT file as: CS_590_Lab_01_<YourClassID).PPT e) your PPT file wo instructor BEFORE designated deadline (see course web site). *) Software systems to be used (each once only): UMLet,, IBM Rational Software Modeler, MS Visio, Visual Paradigm, SamrtDraw. 4
