1 Permission Overrides Overview The Class Permission Override Assignment and Course Permission Override Assignment pages are used to post overrides for an individual student by class level or by course level (by offering number) with expiration dates. Class Permission Overrides Assigns permission for a student to enroll in a certain class section (class number) Navigation: Records and Enrollment>Term Processing>Class Permissions> Class Permission Assignment - Enter the class information: the Term, Subject Area, and Catalog Nbr. To narrow search, you may enter additional information such as the campus or the course offering number. - Click the SEARCH button. - If there is more than one course offering, the search results will display at the bottom of the page - Click on the desired course offering. - Click Find - Enter the class number in the Script Prompt - Click the OK button OR -Click View All or the arrow or keys on the gray Class Permissions bar to find desired class number Student Tab Seq # - The system generates a sequence number and assigns it to each permission based on the order you create the permissions. Not Used -If the student has not yet used the override, Not Used will display. When the override has been used, this space will be blank and a date will display under Use Dt. *ID - Enter the ID number of the student for whom the override will be given. Use Dt-If the student has enrolled using this override, the date the student processed the transaction will display here. Permission Overrides Last Updated 04/02/07 1
2 Perm Type-Permission types are Add or Drop. These values equate to the enrollment action of "add" or "drop". Because each of the overrides available to assign is associated with the student adding a class, Add is the correct choice and is the default value. Do not choose "drop". Overrides 1 Tab Override Class Limit - Select to override class section capacity, combined section capacity, and reserve capacity sizes. Override Class Permission Select this override for classes that have the instructor or department consent requirement defined in the schedule of classes. This will also override academic career pointers and career pointer exception rules. This override does not override requisites, class limit or unit load. Overrides 2 Tab Override Requisites - Select to have the enrollment engine bypass requisite checking (course edits). Override Time Conflict - Select to disable time conflict checking for class sections when you process the enrollment request. Note: this overrides ALL time conflicts for this enrollment request. 3 Course Permission Overrides Assigns permission for a student to enroll in any section of a course The overrides are assigned by offering number and must be entered individually by campus if the override is valid for any section of the course offered by any campus. Offering Number by Campus 1 = Tempe 2 = West 3 = Polytechnic 4 = Downtown Navigation: Records and Enrollment>Term Processing>Class Permissions> Course Permission Assignment - Enter the class information: the Term, Subject Area, and Catalog Nbr. Adding and Assigning a Class/Course Permission Override for a Student - Click the key to add a row - Select the appropriate override(s) in the designated tab: - Overrides 1 tab-class Limit, Class Permission, Overrides 2 tab-requisites, Time Conflict - Enter the Permission Expire Date for each individual override on which you would like the override to expire. - The default date is the transaction deadline date for the relevant term. - Click the SAVE button - If other students have already been assigned overrides for the course, rows of information including their names and override information will display on the designated tabs of the Student Class Permission page. Updating a Class/Course Permission override for a student - If an override has already been assigned to your student for that class, but you wish to change the entry or need to assign another override, do not add a row - Enter or update the information on the original row - Click the SAVE button Deleting a Class/Course Permission override for a student - Click the key to add a row - Click the SAVE button Viewing a Student Override by Term Permission Overrides Last Updated 04/02/07 5
