3 , Web Access, and Proxy Information notifications from FRC Some server generated notifications get blocked when being sent because they are identified mistakenly as SPAM by the incoming mail security program set up by your IT department. How do I resolve this issue of blocked s from FRC? It is recommended that the following DNS address is White-Listed on your mail server by your internal IT department: mail1.phototype.com Are you having problems viewing the FRC web user interface? Some web pages (URLs) get blocked by your IT department when opening because they are mistakenly identified as being a harmful or unacceptable web page for employees to be viewing on the company network. Check to make sure the site is not being blocked by a web security filter at your site. How to enable FRC usage on your computer if the site is being blocked Your IT group will need to configure your network settings so that FRC is considered a safe site for employees to be viewing by entering the following information into your company s firewall settings to allow an exception or rule permitting access to FRC. This is sometimes called Bypass Proxy Settings. DNS name: frc.phototype.com Port 80: Port 443: Proxy Server support The FRC software works with proxy servers using the CERN protocol. Proxy Server Requirements The proxy server must meet the following requirements: Supports both http and https client computer requests on a single port. Has access to the FRC server on ports 80 and 443 and does not analyze traffic on port 443. Client Computer Requirements To connect to the proxy server, client computers must meet the following requirements: The proxy server IP address must be manually set. On a Mac computer, the proxy server IP address must be entered separately for http and https. Automatic proxy detection must be disabled. Scripted Proxy Configurations Scripted proxy configuration is supported on Windows-based computers with the Internet Explorer browser. Mac OS X 10.8 or later supports scripted proxy configurations. Smart Review and How It Works Smart Review is an HTML5 tool that is used to view high-resolution graphic image. 5 FRC Client (Workstation) Configuration Overview The File Routing & Collabortaion (FRC) tools, which are based on the Kodak InSite family of products, use Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows client computers to connect over the Internet to Phototype servers that are running the FRC software. This document describes the supported configurations for workstation computers that will be used to access FRC and other supporting softwares. Determining Your Client Computer Configuration To find out the details of the compatibility of your current client computer configuration with the FRC system, click System Diagnostics on the Login page of the FRC site ( The system checks your computer s operating system, Web browser, HTML5, and network settings. It also tests your upload and download connections. Internet Configuration Your Internet connection must meet the following requirements: Has a high-speed connection of at least 1 megabit per second (Mbps) down and 512 kilobits per second (Kbps) up. Important: Depending on the size of the files being used, more bandwidth might be required for acceptable performance. Provides access to the FRC server on ports 80 and 443 and does not analyze traffic on port 443. While using SSL, provides access to the FRC server on port 443. Recommended Client Computer Hardware Configurations The following tables describe the recommended hardware configurations for computers running a Mac OS or Windows operating system. Recommended Mac Computer Configuration Display Resolution Memory Central Processing Unit (CPU) 1024 x 768 or higher. If the display resolution is lower than 1024 x 768, you may be unable to see all of the available tools and features. Color-accurate viewing with Matchprint Virtual has additional monitor requirements. For details, request the Matchprint Virtual documentation 2GB of RAM minimum for all FRC software is recommended. If you are using two monitors, 4GB is recommended. Apple imac computer, Apple Mac Pro computer, or Apple Mac mini computer (with an Intel Core Duo processor or above processors) Recommended Windows Computer Configuration Display Resolution Memory 1024 x 768 or higher. 6 Supported Operating Systems and Web Browsers The following tables describe the operating systems, Java versions, and Web browsers that are supported by each product in the FRC (InSite) family. The first and second tables describe the supported configurations when you connect through a Web browser on a Mac or Windows workstation. Note: You may experience user interface abnormalities when using Internet Explorer. In such cases, select Compatibility mode on. 7

8 Supported Graphic File Types You can upload elements of any graphic file to a project or library. However, what you can do with uploaded elements depends on their file type. The following table describes the various types of graphic elements that you might upload to a project or library and what you can do with each type of element. Limitations are listed below the table. Note that when a thumbnail cannot be generated for an element, a generic placeholder image appears instead of a thumbnail of the element image. 9 1. Color Proofing File Limitations: Files that you want to color proof in Smart Review using Matchprint Virtual must meet the following requirements: EPS, PS, and PDF files must be composite files. EPS, PS, and PDF files can use CMYK or RGB color space conversion for rendering, spot colors, and transparency. DCS files can include spot colors. JPEG and TIFF files can use CMYK or RGB color space conversion during rendering, but other color spaces are not supported. JPEG and TIFF files that use spot colors are not supported. 2. Adobe File Limitations: Only Adobe Creative Suite (CS) versions CS2 and later are supported for Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. Earlier versions of files may work but this cannot be guaranteed. Thumbnails are correctly generated for Photoshop (.psd) files only when you save the files in the Photoshop CS software with the Maximize Compatibility option selected. Thumbnails are generated for Illustrator (.ai) files only when you save the files in the Illustrator software with the Create PDF Compatible File option selected. If this option is not selected, when the file is uploaded, its thumbnail will appear as a blank image, stamped with the following message (you can read the message clearly when you open the element in Smart Review): This is an Adobe Illustrator file that was saved without PDF content. To place or open this file in other applications, it should be re-saved from Adobe Illustrator with the Create PDF Compatible File option turned on. This option is in the Illustrator Native Format Options dialogue box, which appears when saving an Adobe Illustrator file using the Save As command. 9

10 FRC User Support Structure Phototype employs the following 3 Tiered Support Structure as follows: Tier 1 Every client site will have a Phototype single point of accountability (SPA) assigned to it. They generally will come from the location which produces most of the clients work, or be an on-site representative from Phototype. The SPA becomes the Tier One support for the client. They will field all primary support requests and questions from the end users at the client site. Tier 2 If the SPA can not address the issue, they will engage the FRC Enterprise Solutions Team (Tier 2) which is their support team. Tier 3 If the FRC Enterprise Solutions Team cannot address the issue, they will contact Kodak (Tier 3) and request support Note: The FRC Solution has robust and intuitive online Self-Support Tools that help end users with functionality issues and is easily accessible within the user interface. Support Every client site will have a link in the footer of the web page (Contact Support) to a Phototype support address (frcsupport@phototype.com). This is an address that goes to several people within Phototype on the FRC Enterprise Solutions Team (Tier 2) who are capable of helping resolve any issues with FRC or answer questions that arise. The first course of action the Tier 2 Team will take is to see if they can assist the Tier 1 client support SPA in resolving the issue or answering the question, rather than contacting the user directly. If for any reason this is not possible, someone from the Tier 2 team will respond to the request. Please do not send support requests directly to one individual. That person may or may not be available to help. Always use the frcsupport@phototype.com address. That way there are several responders who may be able to assist with the issue or question. 10
