3 History and Development The College of Agriculture, Golegaon at Tq. Aundha Dist. Hingoli was started in the year in 2012, vide Gr. No. MKV-2011 / 341/ Letter No 80 / 7 - A dated College of Agriculture Golegaon was established to educate and disseminate need based agricultural technologies to the farming community of this region. The College is consistently working in education research and extension field. Highly educated, qualified, teaching faculty, laboratories, planned farm, library etc. are the strength of this college. The intake capacity of students is 60 students. This college is located on Jintur - Aundha Nagnath Rd, Golegaon, Maharashtra , India at Latitude and Longitude respectively. Objective To educate, train and generate agricultural experts. To develop agricultural technology. To carry out need based and applied research in agriculture. To develop and transfer agricultural technology to the farmers of the region. To provide solutions to the problems of farming community. To develop the technology for agro-based small scale industries. To provide technical advice and guidance to the entrepreneurs in the region. To educate students about research on various components of agricultural technology. To assess and help to the Government of Maharashtra in planning, monitoring and also formulating agricultural development policies. Mission: Develop sound economically viable and socially acceptable crop production technology through sustainable use of natural resources. Strengthen post graduate research in frontier areas like agricultural Bio- Technology, precision farming, GIS and remote sensing applications, Hi-tech agriculture and horticulture. Enhancing eco-friendly crop production technology through minimum loss due to biotic and abiotic stresses. Ensuring minimum cost of production through technological intervention. Ensuring better prices of farm commodity through post harvest technology. 3

4 Physical Facilities (Infrastructure) The College of Agriculture, Golegaon is one of the constituent colleges of the Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani. This college has a self-contained campus with all facilities associated with well-furnished class rooms, well equipped laboratories with sophisticated equipments / instruments, library with computer cell, play grounds, surface meteorological observatory, gardens, farms, forms pond, shade net, polyhouse, irrigation facilities and so on. The facilities like Computer, printer, LCD, Laptop were used by faculty members for effective teaching and Extension work. Further developmental activities in the College viz., Development of Model Computer Laboratory, Education and Examination Cell, Experiential Learning Programme units, Conference /Seminar Hall etc are in progress. Main College building: The phase-i construction of main college building was started in and is in progress. At present the classes are conducted in two fully furnished multipurpose blocks having 3 well furnished classrooms, Three laboratories which includes six disciplines, Associate Dean & Principal s office and library. The college is situated on Aundha - Jintur road nearly 7 km from Aundha (N). Laboratory furniture and equipments: Necessary furniture and equipments for practical classes are available in all departments. Library: Library situated in one hall of the college building having 5400 text books, magazines, daily news papers & Xerox facilities are available. College farm: The land of ha is allotted by Government of Maharashtra and is in possession of college since March Two Multipurpose blocks, storage shed, Threshing yard, surface agro met observatory, two tube wells and One Farm ponds has been completed. This irrigation facility is useful for Horticulture plantation and other crops. The drip irrigation systems were existed for Horticulture plantation. The total area of college farm is ha, out of it 50 ha land is allotted for agriculture cultivation and 5 ha for horticulture plantation and 15 ha for college building and others. The proposed horticulture plantation on 10 ha land is in progress. Student forum for study of competitive examination: This college has established student forum for study of competitive examination, the Gymkhana and NSS of the college is actively engaged in student development programmes and other activities like sports, cultural programs etc. 4

Applications in the prescribed proforma are called from eligible candidates for under graduate courses. The detailed regarding UG courses, colleges with their intake capacities, reservations of seats documents to be enclosed with the application form are given in the advertisement. The admission procedure and schedule / calendar are given in the prospectus. For admission to under graduate courses, 70% seats of the admission capacity will be filled in from amongst the students who have passed the qualifying examination from the school or the institution situated in the University area (U quota) and remaining 30% seats 5

6 will be kept open for all the students i.e. State quota (M quota). Admission to all the under graduate degree programme are on merit basis. Other State quota (OS) The 2% seats reserved for the candidates having the domicile of other State from India and whose parents have not stayed in Maharashtra State for minimum of three years within the period of ten years proceeding the admission year, such seats shall be termed as Other State Quota: OS quota. System of Education The College adopts course credit system under the semester pattern. In this system each academic year is divided into two terms not less than 20 weeks called semester. Subjects to be taught are divided into self contained units called courses. These are taught in a semester through lecturers practical s, library reading, and field work assignments etc. The students admitted to B.Sc. (Agri.) degree course have to complete one semester as rural work experience in the farmers field as per the recommendation of IV th Dean s Committee report of ICAR, New Delhi. The getting hands on training the students are exposed to VIII semester for Experimental Learning Programme. Academic Regulations MCAER pune is constituted under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Agricultural Universities (Krishi Vidyapeeth) Act, 1983 to coordinate educational activities in SAU Of Maharashtra.Academic regulations for U.G., PG and Ph.D. are approved by the Maharashtra Council of Agricultural Education Research (MCAER), Pune.. These rules are applicable to all the Agricultural Universities in the State, since The rules and regulations are approved by the Maharashtra Council of Agricultural Education and Research in its 84th and 86th meeting held on and vide Resolution NO.102/84/2011and 4/86/2012 respectively. These regulations made available to the faculty of the College and also available on the web of University. 6

Some course / subject in degree programme are added while those old or obsolete from the curricula. A new and revised curriculum for under graduate degree programmes has been introduced in operation since academic year in accordance with recommendations of IV th Dean s Committee of ICAR, New Delhi. Adoption of ICAR Model Curricula and Deviation U.G. courses: As per the IV th Dean s Committee the new degree course / subject based Academic Programmes are implemented from Summary College of Agriculture Golegaon has been established in year 2012 The College is consistently working in education research and extension. Highly educated, qualified, teaching faculty, well equipped laboratories, planned farm, library etc. are the strength of this college. B.Sc. (Agri) is of four year degree programme the students were admitted by central online admission system formulated by MCAER Pune. Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) and experiential learning programme (ELP) promotes holistic higher agriculture education by blending knowledge, skill and 8

9 attitude. The students are exposed to rural life and farming situations during six month stay in adopted villages. The experiential learning programme is being implemented for VIII th S emester. During the academic year twenty three students from VIII th semester participated under ELP programme. Commercial vegetable production was implemented during year in which forty two students are admitted. Library plays an important role in dissemination of knowledge and information to student s, researchers and readers etc. The collegelibrary is providing dissemination facilities through different books, magazines, computers, newspapers etc. Cultural activities like birth anniversaries of national leader s, patriots, and social reformers were celebrated under Gymkhana and National Service Scheme. During the academic year seven day special camp was organized at Matha, Ta. Aundha (Na.) Dist. Hingoli. The Programmes like cleaning campaign, woman empowerment, food process training were organized during the special camp. During faculty members of this college has published eleven research articles in reputed national and international journals. They also participated and presented research papers abstract in conferences, seminars and symposia s etc. 9
