Ver Introduction 2.Safety Instructions 1.2 Packaging When unpacking the inverter, please check if all the parts listed below are included: Improper use may result in potential electric shock hazards or burns. This manual contains important instructions that should be followed during installation and maintenance. 5 2.Safety Instructions 3. Overview WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, branch-circuit over-current protective devices (OCPD) are required for circuits connected to the Inverter. 3.1 Front Panel Display CAUTION: Risk of electric shock. Do not remove cover. There is no user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified and accredited service technician. CAUTION: The PV array (Solar panels) supplies a DC voltage when it is exposed to light. CAUTION: Risk of electric shock from energy stored in capacitors of the Inverter. Do not remove cover until 5 minutes after disconnecting all sources of supply. Service technician only. Warranty may be voided if any unauthorized removal of cover. CAUTION: The surface temperature of the inverter can reach up to 75 (167 F). To avoid risk of burns, do not touch the surface when inverter is operating. Inverter must be installed out the reach of children. WARNING: The inverter can only accept a PV array as a dc input. Using any other type of DC source could damage the inverter. Figure 3.1 Front Panel Display 3.2 LED Status Indicator Lights There are three LED status indicator lights in the front panel of the inverter. The red DC POWER LED on the left, The green OPERATION LED in the middle and the yellow ALARM LED on the Right. Please refer to Table 3.2 for details. Light Status Description 2.3 Notice For Use DC POWER ON OFF The inverter can detect DC power No DC power or low DC power The inverter has been constructed according to the applicable safety and technical guidelines. Use the inverter in installations that meet the following requirements ONLY: 1. Inverter must be permanently installed 2. The electrical installation must meet all the applicable regulations and standards. 3. The inverter must be installed according to the instructions stated in this manual. 4. The inverter must be installed according to the correct technical specifications. 5. To startup the inverter, the Grid Supply Main Switch (AC) must be switched on, before the DC disconnect is switched on. To stop the inverter, the Grid Supply Main Switch (AC) must be switched off before the DC disconnect is switched off. OPERATION ALARM ON The inverter is operating properly. OFF The inverter has stopped generating AC power. FLASHING The inverter is initializing. ON Alarm or fault condition is detected. OFF The inverter is operating properly. 6 3. Overview 4. Installation 3.3 Keypad There are four keys in the front panel of the Inverter(from left to right): ESC, UP, DOWN and ENTER keys. The keypad is used for: 4.1 Product Handing Please review the instructions below for handling the inverter.: 1.The red marks denote handles on the product package (see Figure 4.1) Scrolling through the displayed options (the UP and DOWN keys); Access to modify the adjustable settings (the ESC and ENTER keys). 3.4 LCD The The 7 LCD is located on the front panel of the Inverter,and displays the following information: Inverter operation status and data; Service messages for operator; Alarm messages and fault indications. Figure 4.1 move the inverter 2.Removing the inverter from the shipping box requires two people.use the handles integrated into the heat sink to remove.(as shown in figure 4.2) Figure 4.2 carry out the inverter.8..9.

Installation 4.2 Product Storage If the inverter is not installed immediately, it should be stored under the following environmental conditions: Please use the original box to repackage the inverter, and retain the desiccant. 20in 20in Packing boxes should be sealed with adhesive tape. Please store the inverter in a clean and dry place, free of dust, dirt and exposure to water vapor. 20in 20in 20in Storage temperature should be between -16 and 140 degress F and humidity should be between 0 and 95 %, non condensing Do not stack more than 4 high. 20in 20in Keep away from corrosive materials to avoid damage to inverter enclosure. Inspect the packaging regularly. If packing is damaged (wet, pest damages, etc) replace packaging immediately. Store inverters on a flat, hard surface; not inclined or upside down. After long-term storage, the inverter needs to be fully examined and tested by professional person before using. 4.3 Select a Location for the Inverter To select a location for the inverter, the following criteria should be considered: The temperature of the inverter heat-sink could up to 167. Figure 4.3 Inverter Mounting clearance The inverter is designed to work in extreme temperatures. The ambient operating temperature range is from -13 to 140. If there is more than 1 inverter installed on site, a minimum of 20 inches of clearance should be kept between each inverter and all other mounted equipment. The bottom of the inverter should be at least 20 inches clear of the ground or floor. Visibility of the LED status indicator lights and the LCD located at the front panel of the inverter should be considered. Adequate ventilation must be provided if the inverter is to be installed in a confined space. NOTE: Nothing should be stored on or placed against the inverter. 4.4 Mounting the Inverter The inverter can be mounted to the wall or metal array racking. The mounting holes should be consistent with the size of the bracket or the dimensions shown below
8 4. Installation 4. Installation A B Lift up the inverter and make sure the slot on the back of the inverter aligns with the lip on the mounting bracket. Lower the inverter onto the bracket slowly until the inverter is secured on the bracket (see Figure 4.6) C 6.69 Figure 4.4 The dimensions of the mounting bracket The inverter must be mounted vertically (+/- 5 ) following the steps below. 1. Referring to Figure 4.4, select the mounting height of the bracket and mark the mounting holes. For brick walls, the position of the holes should be suitable for the expansion bolts. 2.MAKE SURE the bracket is level and the mounting holes A, B, and C(in Figure 4.5) are in the correct positions. Drill the holes in the wall at the marks. 3. Use expansion bolts (if required) to fix the bracket to the wall. WARNING: The inverter must be mounted vertically on a vertical wall. Installation 4.5 Electrical Connections To gain access to the inverter wire box and make electrical connections to the inverter, remove four screws on either side of the inverter wire box and remove the cover (with gasket). Check the cover for any damage to exterior surfaces and the check the interior gasket to ensure it is properly adhered and aligned. Press the cover of wiring box while loosening the screws to prevent damaging the screw threads. 5 Screwdriver Main Menu Wiring box introduction Figure 4.8 Bottom side of inverter The Solis US Three Phase Inverter wiring box allows installers easy access to dc input connection terminals, ac output connection terminals, grounding terminals, optional equipment terminals, Wi-Fi connection points and communication ports. The wire box features a spacious work area and pre-drilled 1 inch (ID) knockouts on the bottom and sides of the cabinet. The terminals are cage terminals (rapid termination type), ideal for installers who work fast and want positive engagement with a range of wire sizes. 3 NO. Installation 6.1.1Main Menu Making connections to the DC side of the inverter Warning Before connecting inverter, make sure the PV array open circuit voltage is within the limit of the inverter. Otherwise the inverter could be damaged. Maximum 1000Voc for Solis-25K-US Solis-30K-US Solis-36K-US Solis-40K-US DO NOT connect the PV array positive or PV array negative to ground. This can cause serious damage to the inverter! MAKE SURE the polarity of the PV array output conductors matches the DC- and DC+ terminal labels before connecting these conductors to the terminals inside the inverter wire box. The acceptable wire size range is from 12 AWG to 6 AWG, copper conductors only; refer to local code for appropriate wire size. Fuse holders have screw terminals and the torque depends on wire size. For wire sizes 10 AWG and larger, tighten to 30 in-lbs (3.4 Nm) torque. Both the DC and AC ground wires can be connected to the grounding terminal block located on a metal bracket, on the left side of the wire box below the DC side terminals (see Figure 4.10). Three Phase inverters can accept wires ranging in size from 8 AWG to 4 AWG. Refer to local codes and voltage drop tables to determine the appropriate wire size and type. Over-Current Protection Device (OCPD) for the AC side To protect the AC connection line of the inverter, we recommend installinga device for protection against overcurrent protection and leakage with the following characteristics: Inverter Solis-25K-US Solis-30K-US Solis-36K-US Solis-40K-US Rated voltage(v) 480V 480V 480V 480V Rated output power (kw) 6.1.1Main Menu External ground connection point Current rating for protection device (A) An OPTIONAL external ground connection (PE) is provided on the right side of the inverter. 1.To use the OPTIONAL external ground connection, prepare the grounding conductor. Crimp a ring or fork (M4 type) connector onto the grounding conductor. 2. Connect the grounding conductor (with crimped terminal) to the external ground connection point on the right side of the inverter. Use a maximum torque of 20 in-lbs. (2Nm) Figure 4.10 Grounding terminal block on the metal bracket 6.1.1Main Menu Making connections to the AC side of the inverter 1. Connect 3 AC conductors to the three gray ac terminals marked L1, L2 and L3. Refer to local code and voltage drop tables to determine the appropriate wire size and type. 2. Connect the neutral conductor to the blue terminal marked N. 3. 11 4. Installation 4. Installation 6.1.1Main Menu Inverter monitoring and communication connections There are three sets of plug pin terminals; 4, 5 and 6. All 3 sets of terminals are for RS-485 communication. Terminal 4 (Figure 4.9) is the cable connection point for a multiple inverter communication solution. Terminal 5 is for RJ45 terminal, which is used for communicating connection between inverters as well as the wired data monitoring. Terminal 6 is 4-pin connector which matched with the Ginlong Wi-Fi or GPRS wireless communication products. Monitoring system for multiple inverters The multi-inverters can be monitored by in series of RS485. The inverter can be monitored by Wi-Fi or GPRS functions. All the communication functions are optional (Figure 4.12), please refer to communication connection instructions. The wire sequency should follow below: GPRS monitoring Smart phone monitoring According to the standard line sequence TIA/EIA 568B, connect the wire to the plug of RJ45, and then use a network cable crimping tool to make it tight. Among the network cables, pin 1 (white and orange) and pin4 (blue) is for RS485 +A; pin 2 (orange) and pin 5 (white and blue) is for RS485B. 12 5. Start & Stop 5. Start & Stop 5.1 Start the Inverter To start up the Inverter, it is important that the following steps are strictly followed: 1. Switch the Grid Supply Main Switch (AC) ON first. 2. Switch the DC disconnect switch ON. If the PV array (DC) voltage is higher than the inverter's Start Up Voltage, the inverter will turn on. The red DC POWER LED and LCD will light (continuous). 3. The Ginlong inverters are powered from the DC side. When the inverter detects DC power that is within start-up and operating ranges, the inverter will turn on. After turn-on, the inverter will check internal parameters, sense and monitor AC voltage, hertz rate and the stability of the supply grid. During this period, the green OPERATION LED will flash and the LCD screen shows INITIALIZING. This tells the operator that the inverter is preparing to generate ac power. 4. After 300 seconds (IEEE-mandated, US systems), the inverter will start generating AC power. The green OPERATION LED will light continuously and the LCD screen will show GENERATING. 2. Wait ~30 seconds (AC side capacitors are dissipating energy and the ac connection terminals will go to zero volts). If the inverter has DC power within the MPPT operating range, the red POWER LED will be lit. After waiting for the AC side of the inverter to de-energize, switch the DC disconnect switch on the bottom of the inverter to OFF. Switching the DC disconnect switch to the right or to the left will disconnect the inverter from the DC power source. All LED's will switch OFF within one (1) minute. WARNING: Although the inverter DC disconnect switch is in the OFF position and all the LED's are OFF, operators must wait 5 minutes after the DC power source has been disconnected before opening the inverter cabinet. DC side capacitors can take up to 5 minutes to dissipate all stored energy During normal operation LCD shows the current status of the inverter. The screen will display current power generation, total generation, a bar chart showing ac power generation over time, etc. Press the button labeled ESC to switch from home dashboard, i.e. the initial interface for owners and operators, to other screens showing details of daily and monthly generation. Press the button labeled ENTER to switch to the Main Menu. Pressing the ESC button always calls you back to the previous screen CAUTION: The surface temperature of the inverter can reach up to 75 (167 F). The heat sink at the back of the inverter can be very hot during normal operation. To avoid risk of burns, do not touch the surface when inverter is operating. Inverter must be installed out the reach of children. 5.2 Stop the Inverter To stop the Inverter, the following steps must be strictly followed: 1. Operation 6.1 Optional 7 LCD Front Panel Display Interface The initial interface of the inverter shows the current operation status, current power, generation of the day/month/year, and total generation. In the current interface, press the Enter key to move the cursor, press the Up or Down key to view yearly, monthly energy detail. 6.2 Sub-Menu Information The inverter LCD provides access to operational data and information. Select "Information" sub menu, turn the page by scrolling up or down. When this function is selected,the LCD will display as screen as shown in Figure 6.7. Press the UP/DOWN keys to set time and data. Press the ENTER key to move from one digit to the next (from left to right). Press the ESC key to save the settings and return to the previous menu Setting Inverter Address for Communications This function is used to set the address of an inverter for communication purposes.the address number can be assigned from 01 to 99 (see Figure 6.8). Improper access and operation may result in abnormal results and damage to the inverter. Password required restricted access authorized technicians only Unauthorized access may void the warranty. This function is applicable by maintenance personnel only, wrong operation will prevent the inverter from reaching maximum power. Grid ON/OFF Grid ON Grid OFF Clear Energy and Restore Factory Settings Clear Energy can reset the history yield of inverter, restore factory settings means all the settings are restored to default settings. These two functions are applicable by maintenance personnel only, wrong operation will prevent the inverter from working properly. Password Please Input The Current Password X X X X 6.6 Arc Fault Current Interrupt (AFCI) Function The Solis US Three Phase inverter series can be supplied with an integrated AFCI module which can detect and interrupt an arc in the DC circuit(s). If an arc fault occurs, the AFCI module will detect the arc, and interrupt the circuit. The fault can only be cleared manually. During start up inverter will check AFCI module. If the check is OK, inverter will start normally. If the fault happens again, shutdown the inverter and check the entire DC circuit(s) for the arc fault(s). After the fault has been found and repaired, the inverter can be switched back on..39.
22 7. Maintenance 8. Troubleshooting The Solis US Three Phase series of inverters do not require any regular maintenance. However, cleaning the dust off the heat sink will help dissipate heat away from the inverter and this will increase the lifetime of the inverter CAUTION: Do not touch the surface when the inverter is operating. Some parts may be hot and cause burns. Turn OFF your inverter (refer to Section 5.2) and let it cool down before you do any maintenance or cleaning of inverter. Alarm Message No power LCD show initializing all the time Failure description Inverter no power on LCD can not start-up Solution 1.Check PV input connections 2.Check DC input voltage (single phase >120V, three phase >350V) 3.Check if PV+/- is reversed 1.Check if the connector on main board or power board are fixed. 2.Check if the DSP connector to power board are fixed. The LCD and the LED status indicator lights can be cleaned with a soft cloth if they are too dirty to read. OV-G-V Over grid voltage 1.Resistant of AC cable is too high. Change bigger size grid cable 2.Adjust the protection limit if it s allowed by electrical company. NOTE: Never use any solvents, abrasives or corrosive materials to clean the inverter. OV-DC Over DC voltage 1.Reduce the module number in series The inverter is designed in accordance with the most important international grid-tied standards and safety and electromagnetic compatibility requirements. Before delivering to the customer, the inverter has been subjected to several tests to ensure its optimal operation and reliability. In case of failure, the LCD screen will display an alarm message. In this case, the inverter may stop feeding into the grid.
