SUBJECT: Versa XS version / EL2x firmware version Elite EL2000 and EL25 systems manufactured on and after March 26 th, 2007 will have revised versions of firmware, software and reference manuals. The software is available for download at the dealer extranet site, once the latest software version is installed it can be used to upgrade the firmware to existing system installations. FPGA firmware 1.3 FPGA firmware, that stores and controls the system menus, can only be programmed at the manufacturing plant. Version 1.3 addresses a bug that could cause the system to constantly reset during high temperature conditions (above 50 C). The symptoms of this failure are: EL2000: Display constantly initializes displaying two black bars followed by the firmware version. EL2000/25: The restart chime plays over and over; high pitched cycling audio may be heard from the speaker; historical transaction reports too many UNIT RESTART types. If Customer reports the issue described above process a board replacement. New Features in EL2x firmware and Versa XS DST Time schedules compliance for years 2005 thru Default Wiegand Device to Respective Door Each Wiegand module is detected and the unit automatically selects door assignment, device number matches door number, once activity is present (wiegand card or code entry). Reduced DB mismatch with Versa XS The unit will only increase its synchronization number, shared with Versa XS, only when: Changes were made during user programming

2 Versa XS programming is entered Special Use Entry Codes Audio Feedback for options 6 and 7 Audio feedback is available now for options 6 and 7 of the special use entry codes, a short beep announces the feature being enabled and a longer beep announces the feature being disabled. Versa XS Reduced Unit Programming Time Software When Versa XS overwrites the unit s database, it ll only send programming steps for nonfactory default data after restoring unit to factory defaults. Wrap tenant list A-Z, Z-A Fast Tenant List Search and Progress Bar Now a visitor can immediately head to the back of the Tenant List to find names beginning with Z up to A. To enter fast search mode, hold the down or up arrow key, the tenant list will display one name and move at a rate of 20 names per second. A progress bar with a small inverted box is shown on the last column to the right of the list. Programming step 25 Return to main menu only While using the main keypad of systems with display for individual programming steps enter 25# to go back to the main menu. Programming step 26 Announce Granted Access for any door /Software Use programming step 26 as follows to announce Granted Access for any door at the main speaker. P26#1# Any door event is announced at the main speaker P26#0# Only door 1 events are announced at the main speaker Programming Step 75 and Entry/Card Code door selection /Software Use programming step 75 or as follows to change door assignment to an existing entry or card code. P142##<name># Bugs fixed with this release /Software Altering Beep Level Affects Talk Time Expiration Alert Setting beep level to silent will not affect the talk time remaining beeps when talk time is expiring. Versa XS factory setting reset affects MU chain s critical settings. /Software Versa XS will not modify critical unit settings when sending factory default reset command to units that are part of MU chain. 5 The unit replies to the step number whether it is valid or not, a double zero after the programming step indicates a valid result and a non-double zero is an error code. The Backspace key is ignored. In case of typos or to clear the screen use the esc key to clear the terminal of text. Programming steps 54, 85 and 95 Swap or modify an entry, card or RF code Use these steps to modify any attribute except button value to an existing entry, card or RF code Programming step Read and View historical transactions from unit Connect to system using HyperTerminal connection described above and enter the programming steps section. Use programming step 108 as follows: PS <optional date> <optional time> This limits the query on how far back the unit should go. Press n to get the next historical transaction or q to quit the historical transaction mode Note: Transactions stored at the unit will not have tenant names. Programming step 405 Get or read value from storage Use programming step 405 to get or read unit value from flash storage, this is meant to check the version numbers or database values at a technical support level. The only parameter should be a valid memory location: 0 1,048,575. The unit replies with two representations of the 16- bit memory location. The first is in decimal ( ) without leading zeros. The second is in hexadecimal using leading zeros. SERGIO PLEASE PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE Reply: p AA Enter: P Programming step Tone generator The unit can generate any 1004 Khz tone ( KhzKHz) for 30 seconds out of any channel: main speaker, resident or telco. Tests can be conducted using telephone line test equipment to

6 find the total signal loss. Tone playback can be programmed up to 120 seconds. The unit will not accept programming commands until the tone stops. Use programming step 404 as follows: The default tone and time is 1004 KhzKHz for 30 seconds. Simply enter 404### Use programming step 404 as follows: PS freq time in seconds Example: 404#210004#15030# Note: Always reset unit after using this step to revert temporarily modified settings back to default.
