They contain their own set of menus and toolbars. Warning! When defining the custom command, you have the option to pass the TMW user ID and password to the file or Web page. This ability can potentially result in security issues. It is recommended you do any of the following to reduce your security risk when defining custom commands. 1. Restrict access to the Custom!enu Entries menu command. 2. In SQL Server Manager, lock the TMW database tables (custom_menu and menu_options) that contain the custom command definitions. 3. Apply security to the Credentials field on the window using QuickDesigner Revised: 3/2016

36 4. Use Windows Authentication to log into TMW Operations. A user's password is never passed to the executable file through the custom command, even if the option is selected in the command definition. Providing access to the Custom Menus window The Custom Menus window is opened from the Custom Menu Entries command. However, this command is not, by default, part of the menu structure of TMW Operations. You must add it to a menu, and then save and assign the menu layout to the individuals who will be using it. Use this procedure to add the Custom Menu Entries command to a menu. 1. Open TMW Operations with a system administration login. 2. Right-click on the toolbar and click Customize. The Customize dialog box opens. 3. Click the Commnnds tab. 4. Select the MnintennnceMenu category. 5. In the Commnnds pane, locate Custom Menu Entries. Show me 6. Click and drag Custom Menu Entries to a place in a menu or toolbar. 7. Assign this menu to the individuals who will be using it. 8. Inform the individuals of the location of the Custom Menu Entries command. 37 Understanding the Custom Menus window The Custom Menus window allows you to define custom commands and add them to any menu or toolbar in TMW Operations. The following sections comprise the Custom Menus window. Existing custom commands The fields in the grid are read-only, and provide a recap of existing custom commands. The grid displays command definitions that you already created here, as well as those you might have added through TMW's System Administration application. Seq Description Menu Text Displays each command s sequence number (10, 10, 30, etc.), which determines the order in which commands are listed under a menu. Displays the text entered in a command s Description field. Displays the text entered in a command s Display Text field. This is the command s name as it will appear in an application s menu. Menu Action type Displays the option selected as a command s Menu Action Type when the command was defined. Web Icon Displays whether the command launches a Web page. Displays an icon for the custom command if an icon has been set. Note: If a custom icon is not set, a default icon custom command when it is applied to a menu. will appear for the Revised: 11/2016

38 Information tab The fields on this tab are used to define a custom command and are grouped according to General, Target, and Parameter fields. General field definitions Sequence Web Description The sequence number is an identifier for the custom command that can be used as a method of sorting the list. For existing custom commands, the Sequence field displays the sequence number of the custom command that is highlighted in the existing custom commands grid. When you define a new custom command, the command is added to the end of the grid, and the Sequence field defaults to the next available whole decade (40, 50, 60, etc.). By default, the File to Open field lists parameters to add to the command line in the sequence they appear in the Menu Options tab. If this check box is selected, you will need to add any parameters to the File to Open field manually. Free-form text that describes the custom command Revised: 11/2016
