3 Important Notice 1. Both camera and codec have their own applications, and we will upgrade all or part of them each system upgrade, so please connect the default camera to your AVer VC system before upgrading it. 2. During system upgrade, please DON T turn off the power or unplug the USB flash drive for any reasons. 3. WebTool doesn t support IE8 and older versions. 4. Downgrading firmware to any older version is prohibited. 5. In a video conferencing, we can t transmit both H.264 baseline and high profile videos at the same time. If a user only allows receiving H.264 high profile video but others choose H.264 baseline video, that user will receive no videos because our AVer VC system will only send H.264 baseline videos. To avoid such kind of embarrassment, we highly suggest users to enable H.264 baseline and high profile supports simultaneously. 6. In a video conferencing, we can t transmit both H.263 and H videos at the same time. If a user only allows receiving H videos but others choose H.263 videos, that user will receive no videos because our AVer VC system will only send H.263 videos. To avoid such kind of embarrassment, we highly suggest users to enable H.263 and H supports simultaneously. 7. Playback is not supported on EVC series when users try to play a video recorded by HVC series. 8. To improve H.263+ stability and compatibility, we change some fundamental encoding blocks, so any firmware older than MUST upgrade to , and then latter firmware. Through Google Drive backup, AVer VC system can upload screenshots and recordings automatically when system is idol. 4 Upgrade Instructions Before upgrade: 1. Prepare one USB flash drive with available spaces over 200MB. 2. Download the ZIP file from AVer website, unzip it and save the DAT file in the USB flash drive. Tips: 2 files are included in the ZIP file firmware and release notes. You can check the MD5 checksum of firmware (*.dat) to make sure file integrity before you save it in the flash drive. File name MD5 checksum dat f96b98e98cbfd543eee13ce6bee47c0e Upgrade instructions: 1. Turn on your AVer VC system and wait for system startup completion. Tips: it will take 2 minutes to complete the whole startup process. 2. Insert the USB Flash drive into a USB Port of AVer VC System. Tips: Inserting an USB flash drive into AVer VC system before completion of the startup process will result in startup failure, so please DON T do it. 3. AVer VC system will detect and install the firmware from the USB flash drive automatically. 4. AVer VC system will restart itself to finalize firmware upgrade. Tips: Before rebooting system, AVer VC system will delete firmware (*.dat) in the USB flash drive. 4

5 New Features Firmware Version New Features [Applications] EZDraw, AVer 1 st collaborative tool: it can easily turn your tablet into an interactive whiteboard to share ideas during a video conferencing. For EVC300/900, we can support up to 10 EZDraw connections without any problems. 2. [GUI] Speech mode: users can manually choose which person to be the key man shown in the monitor: Just using the number pad on the remote control, users can pick the key man. This feature would be available when users turn off Voice Activated Switch Layout. 3. [Protocol] Auto-Focus mode: EVC300/EVC900 can automatically identify and focus people being in the center of layout. 4. [Protocol] SRTP: through SRTP, RTP payloads will be encrypted to prevent sniffer, and hence secure communication between users. 5. [Applications] Snapshot: users can capture and save what is shown in the monitor to a USB flash drive. 6. [System] Google Drive auto-backup: given users google account, EVC300/EVC900 can automatically upload recordings and screenshots to it. This feature is combined with group calling, and each group can have its google account. 7. [Applications] Call History Export: on Webtool, go to Call -> Phonebook -> Upload / Download, users can download call history to their disk. 8. [System] Acoustic Echo Cancelling (AEC) improvement: more alleviate double talking echo interruption effects [Protocol] H.264 HP improvement: now we can transmit 720P videos by 512Kbps as well as 1080P videos by 1Mbps. 2. [Protocol] H.264 SVC: this video technology allows EVC300 and EVC900 to send and receive multi-layered video streams composed of a small base layer and optional additional layers. By SVC, we can provide a dramatically higher degree of error resilience to packet loss; as packet loss increases, video quality doesn t significantly degrade. 3. [Protocol] 3D Denoise: this video technology allows EVC300 and EVC900 to reduce the noise level of video images. By 3D Denoise, we can demonstrate more details of images under the circumstances of low illuminance. 4. [Applications] Group calling: by one click, we can automatically call all members in one group [Protocol] BFCP TCP mode: through TCP, BFCP can offer a reliable connection to prevent unexpected disconnection and behaviors due to packet losses. 5

6 2. [Protocol] SIP TLS: through TLS, SIP payloads will be encrypted to prevent malicious or unwanted modifications. One good side-effect is that NAT-traversal can be achieved by TLS connections since SIP payloads will not be altered by NAT-enabled routers. 3. [GUI] Default layout options: go to Settings->General Setting->Default Layout, and users can select their preferred default layout for all video conferencing calls rather than what they like for every video conferencing call. 4. [GUI] Side by side layout for 2 points connections with content sharing: adding a new layout (layout 7) that presents content and far view side by side. 5. [GUI] Call duration: go to Call->Call History, and users can check call duration for each call. 6. [Applications] New function keys on the Web remote control: we introduce a new Web remote control interface, and add new functions including number keypad, preset function and phone book shortcut. 7. [Applications] Auto-answer with mic-mute mode: go to Settings->General Settings->Call Settings->Auto Answer, and users can choose First ON with Mic Mute that allows EVC900/EVC300 to pick up coming calls but keep MIC in mute. 8.
