Please register your camera at INTERIOR VIEW SD Card Slot SIM Slot LCD Display Cellular Antenna Cellular Information This camera contains a HSPA+ cellular module to transmit pictures directly from the camera to your cellular phone and/or address. It supports MMS/SMTP/ via HSPA or GSM network. It supports four network bands: 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, and 1900MHz. Menu Button OK/Select Button Navigation Buttons / SETUP / ON A SIM card from a compatible provider is required to transmit photos. Photos are transmitted via MMS or SMTP. Cellular charges will apply for sending photos and potentially receiving photos/ s. Video does not send via cellular network. O MOULTRIE ACCESSORIES (Sold Separately) / SETUP / ON Additionally, a live view from the camera will be displayed on screen to show the area that will be captured in photos or videos. MENU BUTTON The Menu Button selects Camera Setup or Main Screen. When camera mode is selected, the LEFT and RIGHT buttons navigate through the menu options. The Menu Button is also used to wake-up the camera and turn on the display when the camera is in power saving (or sleep) mode. OK, UP/DOWN and LEFT/RIGHT BUTTONS The OK button selects the item to be changed. The UP/DOWN and LEFT/RIGHT buttons are used to step through and modify the menu options. Pressing the OK button again, selects the option indicated on the display. The OK button is also used to manually take a picture. BATTERY COMPARTMENT The camera is powered by twelve (12) AA alkaline or lithium batteries. Open camera to show the battery compartment. Follow engravings on battery compartment, taking care to note the correct polarity. Using the Moultrie Camera Power Panel Place near the tree where the camera is mounted. Place for best exposure to sun. To attach to a tripod secure the power panel to the tripod angled upward for best exposure. Plug the power panel to the Power Panel Plug. This will extend the life of your camera in the field. Note: Leave internal batteries in the camera during use. The Camera Power Panel needs 4 hours of sunlight to fully power the camera. Using the Moultrie Battery Box Extend the field life of your Moultrie camera with a long-lasting, rechargeable external power source. Place near the tree where the camera is mounted. Plug the Battery Box to the Power Panel Plug. This will extend the life of your camera in the field. See Important Battery Information section on the back page of this manual. SD CARD SLOT Accepts up to a 32GB SD card (Class 10) for photo and video storage. TE: A Class 10 SD card must be installed for the camera to operate (sold separately). USB PORT Download still pictures and video onto your computer by connecting a micro-b to USB cable (not included) to the USB port. Also allows for attachment of Moultrie Field Modem MV1. Using the Universal Camera Stake So useful you ll wonder how you ever did without it, the Moultrie Universal Camera Stake lets you set up shop literally anywhere, no trees or poles required. A sturdy 3-prong base plants the stake securely in the ground, wherever you choose to place it in brush, alongside trees or even amidst taller crops like corn. 3 N VIEWING YOUR IMAGES THE CAMERA DEFAULT SETTINGS There are a number of ways for you download and view the pictures, videos in the field or at another location. Removing the SD Card To remove the SD Memory Card, open the camera cover and push gently on the SD card and it will pop out slightly allowing you to remove it. Load the SD card into the player or card reader to view or move stored images to another location. Important Make sure that the camera is in the position before removing SD card. ln the Field You can download the pictures, videos, and time lapse pictures with the aid of external devices. To download, use an external player or card reader that is supported by 12V DC or Mini USB Jack. To connect the camera to a PC computer, turn the camera ON, press the MENU button once to change to SETUP Mode. Connect the USB cord (not included) between the USB out port and the PC computer. The computer will recognize the camera as a removable drive. The unit works with Windows P/Vista/7 or Mac OS 10.1 or higher. Copy the images and videos from the camera onto your PC for further editing or printing. When the USB cable is disconnected, the camera will go back to SETUP mode. 4 B QUICK START INSTRUCTIONS M CAMERA SPECIFICATIONS Use the steps below as a guide to quickly set up your camera so it will function using the factory default settings. STEP 1 Open camera cover. Install twelve (12) AA size alkaline or lithium batteries with polarities as indicated in the Battery Tray. Install your SIM and insert your SD card. We recommend that you erase the SD card (ERASE IMAGES) inside the camera before taking pictures. This will not only erase all images, but will also format your SD card for use in the camera. STEP 2 Insert SD Memory Card until you hear an audible click. Camera will not operate without SD Card. STEP 3 Mount camera in desired location using a mounting strap. TE: Camera must be attached to a stable object for motion detection to function properly. Mounting camera on an unstable structure may result in excess image captures with no subject (false triggers). STEP 4 Switch camera to ON. Aim camera using color view screen to determine target area. Walk in front of the camera at the desired distance and watch Python Cable Loop Eyelet Memory & Storage Your camera supports external SD memory cards ONLY and will accept up to a 32GB card (Class 10). Using large memory cards can slow the camera response. The camera cannot capture any photo or video without external memory. Please insert an SD memory card to operate camera. Estimates are based on the most common types of memory cards that can be purchased at electronic stores, office supply stores, or online. Estimates may vary based on camera settings or environmental conditions. Important Always turn the unit off when inserting or removing an SD memory card to avoid damage and ensure that the camera properly updates the memory information. 5 User can send text message commands to change the remote control modes as shown in the above table. HHMM means the wake up time for Once mode. For instance, #RT11130# means change the remote control mode to once a day and the Receive Time is 11:30am. C CAPTURE MODES TE: Once the remote control is disabled, the camera will not accept any further text message commands. User can send text message commands to change the Time Lapse setting. NNN stands for time lapse interval in minutes.. Only 001 to 060, and then multiple of 60 (i.e. in hours) are legible. The max interval time is 720 minutes (i.e. 12 hours). For instance, #TLS0530E2130I120# means Starting Time 5:30, End Time 21:30, Interval Time 120 minutes. Command #SNAP# allows user to catch a snapshot from camera to send to the preset recipient phone number or . You will see one of three status screen displays after you slide the Mode switch to the SETUP position and select the capture mode. Capture Modes Select your preferred capture mode according to your preferences. The capture modes are detailed below. LANGUAGE English Deutsch Français Italiano Timelapse (TL) Settings Timelapse mode allows you to select an interval for the camera to take pictures, and the hours during which the interval will take place. For example: Settings a 60 minute interval with an on time of 8am-8pm will result in your camera taking a picture every hour for the time alloted. TIMELAPSE (TL) SETTINGS INTERVAL 30 Sec. 6 D MAIN MENUS Main Menu When the camera is placed into Setup, press the Menu button to show the main menu options. Use the Up and Down buttons to navigate to the settings you wish to change, and the Right button to select. Motion Detect Menu With Motion Detect Settings selected from the Main Menu, press the Right button to show the current settings for Motion Detect. Use the Up/Down arrows to select a setting to change, and press Right to view the available options. Press the Left button to return to the Main Menu. Timelapse (TL) Menu With Timelapse (TL) Mode selected from the Main Menu, press the Right button to show the current settings for Timelapse. Use the Up/Down arrows to select a setting to change, and press Right to view the available options. Press the Left button to return to the Main Menu. PROGRAM 4 Reset Options 4 Selecting Remote Control This feature allows the user to send a text message command to change certain settings: Disable: turns off remote control. 24 Hour: to allow camera to receive text message command in 24 hour mode. Note: this mode consumes more power since the Cellular module will be on standby all the time for incoming SMS messages, turn it off or switch to Once mode (see below) when this mode is no longer needed. RECIPIENT Once: The cellular module will boot up automatically every day at the Receive Time to check if there is any text message commands. After processing the text message command, the camera will send a confirmation text message to the sender phone number. If multiple commands are received, the camera will only process the last text message command if there is any command conflict. Note: Avoid sending multiple text message commands to camera in one day. Press the OK button. Use the Up/Down buttons to choose between (5-59 Sec, 1-30 Min.). Press OK to lock in your selection. RECIPIENT PIR Sensitivity PIR Sensitivity allows you to control as to how much movement and at what distance the camera will trigger. HIGH sensitivity will allow for more distance, but will make the camera slightly more susceptible to false triggers and is ideal for open areas such as fields and food plots. LOW sensitivity will shorten the distance but lower the chance of false triggers and is ideal for close range traps and deeply wooded areas. Press the OK button. Use the Up/Down buttons to choose between (HIGH or LOW). Press OK to lock in your selection, then press Left button to go to the next option. MOTION DETECT SETTINGS PIR SENS. High Low Selecting Upload Resolution between 2 image resolution settings for upload: 1. LOW - lower quality, but uses less data 2. HIGH - higher quality, but uses more data or Left button to return to the General Settings screen. UPLOAD RESOLUTION LOW HIGH Setting Multi-Shot between settings. Choose how many pictures you would like captured in a sequence when the camera is triggered (1 or 3). Available options are: 1 () - Single photo taken per event. 3 BURST - Three rapidly captured photos taken per event. All 3 photos are captured within one second. TE: Burst mode is only capable of up to 4MP captures, regardless of your resolution setting. MOTION DETECT SETTINGS MULTI-SHOT 1 (off) 3 (Trig) 3 (Burst) 3 TRIGGERED - Up to three photos are captured per event with an approximate one second delay between each capture. Each subsequent photo after the first requires an individual trigger. This allows for multiple potential image captures of the same event while reducing the chance of empty images if the subject moves out of the field of view after the first shot. MOTION DETECT SETTINGS PHOTO/VIDEO Photo Video Both Selecting Send Mode between 4 delivery time options for photo and video: : Turns off the cellular portion of the camera. No images will be transmitted INSTANT: Sends a picture instantly upon capture CUSTOM: Sends pictures at a user-defined time during the day DAILY: Sends a Text Message at a user defined time. The text message report includes total picture/video numbers capturing during the past 24 hours, the battery level and the remaining SD Card storage space or Left button to return to the Network Setup screen. SEND MODE INSTANT CUSTOM DAILY F SETTING TIMELAPSE OPTIONS Interval Time Setting between Sec, 1-59 Min, 1-24 Hours. When your selection has been made, press the Left button to go to the next option. Setting Program Wake up between 24 different settings: any hour from MlDNlGHT to 11 PM. This will determine what time the camera will wake up during the program and begin its time lapse program. Pressing V will choose always on, and Pressing will remove all current selections. Press save to lock in your changes, or cancel to remove them. TIMELAPSE (TL) SETTINGS INTERVAL S TL PROGRAM V Save Cancel Selecting Send Via The camera provides two solutions, i.e. MMS or SMTP, to send the pictures to the desired phone numbers and addresses: MMS: uses MMS cellular plan If MMS is selected, pictures will be sent to the preset phone numbers (maximum 4 numbers allowed) and addresses (maximum 4 addresses allowed) or both phone number and address (use semicolon ; between each phone number and address). SMTP: uses Data cellular plan If SMTP is selected, pictures will be sent from one preset sending address to one or multiple addresses via HSPA network using the SIM card data plan. or Left button to return to the Network Setup screen. Selecting Send To This is to set the destination where the MMS/SMTP goes to. Phone: pictures to phone numbers (maximum 4 numbers) pictures to addresses (maximum 4 addresses) Both: pictures to both phone numbers and addresses. SEND VIA SEND TO MMS PHONE BOTH TE: the Both and Phone options are only possible for MMS, not for SMTP. SMTP pictures can only be sent to addresses (not phone numbers). Using more phone numbers and s will result in more battery usage. or Left button to return to the Network Setup screen. Page 8 Page 17

9 J Reset Options between to reset your Timelapse options. TIMELAPSE (TL) MODE RESET OPTIONS This menu is for setting up the cellular network. Cellular setup can be accomplished either by using the Download Tool with a computer (for comprehensive settings) or by direct setup on camera (for quick and basic settings). Use the Up/Down buttons to choose the country where the camera will be used. Press the OK button to confirm the selection. Press the Right or Left button to return to the Network Setup screen. Camera Name User can input a camera name in the form of 4 digits; the camera name will be shown on the right corner of time stamp of each picture taken. TE: only 4 digits (0~9) are allowed, DO T use Space between digits. Setting Camera Name Press the OK button. Use theup/down and Left/Right buttons to select an identity for your camera. For example, you can use a name or a location; the identity you wish to use is up to you. Select the on-screen SAVE button and then press the OK button to confirm the selection. PATH Click the Save button and a file named SETUP.bin will be generated in the designated location. Copy the SETUP.bin file onto the ROOT directory of a SD card (not in DCIM) and insert the SD card into the camera. TE: Switch the camera to SETUP and after a few seconds, the camera will display Update Success. Selecting Temperature Units The temperature is imprinted on each photo and can be in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. To change the temperature units, press the Up/Down buttons to highlight the desired setting. Press the OK button to confirm the selection. Press the Right or Left button to return to the General Settings screen. TEMPERATURE UNITS ºF ºC Infostrip Active Use the Up/Down buttons to choose between: YES - Camera Name, Time, etc, information will be imprinted at the bottom of the image/video as an infromation bar - No information bar will be imprinted. or Left button to return to the General Settings screen. INFOSTRIP ON Managed Memory Selecting the ON option will cause the oldest files to be overwritten with new captures when the SD card reaches its capacity. With the option selected, the camera will cease image capture once the SD card reaches capacity. Press the OK button to select. Operator Parameter Select the manufacturer Pre-programmed country and operator information If your country/provider is not shown, choose Other and select the Custom Button Provide the operator information (this can be obtained through your cellular service provider). T-Mobile Germany example shown: Erase All Images Press the OK button. Use the Up/Down buttons to choose between: Yes - erase all images No - does not change stored images. Press the OK button to select. Press the Right or Left button to return to the General Settings screen. TE: This will also format your SD card for use in your camera. ERASE ALL IMAGES YES Security Code Press the OK button. Use the Up/Down and Left/Right buttons to select a 5 digit security code for your camera. or Left button to return to the General Settings screen. SECURITY CODE YES TE: Please remember your security code. If the code is lost, you can contact Moultrie customer support to reset the password (charges may apply). Also, use caution when navigating through the Security Code option as not to set a code by mistake. For no Security Code, the setting should remain as SECURITY CODE E. Recipients Enter Phone/ numbers as picture recipients TE: Do not put a space after the semicolon. F. Remote Control Disable: turns off remote control. Factory Reset Use the Up/Down buttons to choose whether or not to reset your camera to factory defaults. Press the OK button to confirm the selection. Press the Right or Left button to return to the General Settings screen. FACTORY RESET YES 24 Hour: to allow camera to receive text message command in 24 hour mode. TE: this mode consumes significantly more power. Once: Set desired time for camera to wake once per day and check for text commands Refer to Section J for remote control codes G. Photo Quality Normal High Upgrade Firmware The firmware version is displayed. Press Up/Down to choose setting: YES - To upgrade firmware. - Keep current firmware. 12 I CELLULAR SETUP - WITH COMPUTER Cellular setup can be accomplished either by using the Download Tool with a computer (for comprehensive settings) or by direct setup on camera (for quick and basic settings). TE: Skip to the CELLULAR SETUP - WITH CAMERA section to setup cellular network if you want to avoid using a computer to setup. Using Download Tool to set up Cellular Network Settings 1. Insert a SD card and a SIM card into camera 2. Access from Main Menu and select DOWNLOAD TOOL 3. Select YES and press OK to download the setup.zip onto the SD card 4. Use a computer to unzip the ZIP file, and then open setup.exe file B. Send Via MMS: uses MMS cellular plan SMTP: uses Data cellular plan If SMTP is selected, pictures will be sent from a preset sending address Click the Sending button Complete the below form with your own information and click OK to save TE: User can send with SSL encryption (by choosing Use SSL ) A. Send Mode : turns off the cellular function; camera functions without cellular functionality. INSTANT: to send a picture instantly when the camera captures a picture. TE: The Max Num. cannot exceed 200 in Instant mode. CUSTOM: to send the pictures at a user-defined time in one day. TE: The Max Num. cannot exceed 50 in Custom mode. DAILY REPORT: Send a once daily SMS report with total pictures in the last 24 hours, battery level and remaining SD Card space. C. Send To Phone: pictures to phone numbers (maximum 4 numbers) pictures to addresses (maximum 4 addresses) Both: pictures to both phone numbers and addresses.
