1 UPDATE FOR IPAD IOS 9 USERS We would like to inform you of the update procedure if you wish to install the new Apple IOS9 software on your ipad to communicate properly with the Digital Director. There could be two scenarios: 1) The user has not yet upgraded the ipad to ios9. (Page 2) 2) The user has upgraded to ios9 (or above) and the Digital Director can not communicate with the ipad. (page 4)

1) The user has not upgrade yet the ipad to ios 9 In this case, the user needs to insert the ipad to Digital Director, connect the Digital Director (DD) to the supplied the AC Adapter.

2 1) The user has not upgrade yet the ipad to ios 9 In this case, the user needs to insert the ipad to Digital Director, connect the Digital Director (DD) to the supplied the AC Adapter. Start the DD app on the ipad and make sure the ipad is connected to the internet. If done correctly, in the bottom right of screen (where settings is found) a red circle with the number 1 will appear (refer to pic 1). This symbolises there is an update for the digital directors computer hardware. pic 1

Touching the icon with the 1 number (settings) a new screen will appear. Find at the bottom left a category named Info. There will be the number 1 circled in red (refer to pic 2).

Once updated, the user can update the ipad with the ios 9 and Digital Director will properly work. (NOTE: as you can see from the Pic 2 the old firmware version is the the new one that will allow the communication with ios 9 is the firmware version is 1.1.5).

4 2) The user has update the ipad with ios 9, but the DD firmware hasn t been upgraded before This procedure is intended to manually update DIGITAL DIRECTOR firmware in case the device can no longer be used with the ipad and/or the automatic process through the Digital Director app cannot be completed. The update sequence must be followed carefully in order to prevent any errors or issues that could potentially damage the unit. Requirements You will need the following to complete the procedure: DIGITAL DIRECTOR (models MVDDA13, MVDDA14) PC or MAC Internet connection USB memory stick (Empty, FAT32 format, single partition) Preliminary Clean the USB memory stick and copy the cfu update file only, you can download the cfu file from the this link Digital Director Firmware Update Disconnect any other device from DIGITAL DIRECTOR (ipad, camera). Update sequence Power DIGITAL DIRECTOR using fresh batteries or the AC adapter provided Turn DIGITAL DIRECTOR OFF using the power button (1) (refer to pic 3) Insert the USB stick containing the updated file into the USB connector (2) (refer to pic 3) Turn DIGITAL DIRECTOR ON and check that the DIGITAL DIRECTOR LED Indicator (3) (refer to pic 3) changes in the following sequence - Lit solid green - Lit blinking red - Lit solid red At this point remove the USB stick, the LED Indicator will turn solid green Wait until the LED Indicator starts blinking green Turn DIGITAL DIRECTOR OFF

5 pic 3 Your Digital Director is now updated and ready to use with your ipad on IOS9 or above.

6 Incase you would like to reset the DD to its factory setting, please follow the directons below. Manual Firmware Restore Purpose This procedure is intended to manually restore DIGITAL DIRECTOR firmware to its factory default setting in the event of the unit becoming unresponsive as a result of an error during the update process. The restore sequence must be followed carefully in order to be successful. Requirements You will need the following to complete the procedure DIGITAL DIRECTOR (models MVDDA13, MVDDA14, MVDDM14) A narrow plastic pin (recommended size is Ø mm, minimum length 8mm ) Preliminary Disconnect any other device from DIGITAL DIRECTOR (ipad, camera). Restore sequence Power DIGITAL DIRECTOR using fresh batteries or the AC adapter provided Turn DIGITAL DIRECTOR OFF using the power button (1) (refer to pic 4) Insert the plastic pin into the reset button hole, pressing the reset button inside it (2) (refer to pic 4) While keeping the reset button pressed, turn DIGITAL DIRECTOR ON and check that the DIGITAL DIRECTOR LED Indicator (3) (refer to pic 4) changes in the following sequence - Lit solid green - Lit solid red - Lit blinking red At this point release the reset button and remove the plastic pin; the LED Indicator will continue to blink for a few more seconds Wait until the LED Indicator turns green, initially solid and then blinking Turn DIGITAL DIRECTOR OFF
