3 1) Upon receipt of your new Power Console visually inspect it for any damage that might have occurred during shipment. If there are any signs of damage please call EHS Immediately so a damage claim can be processed. 2) The Power Console Weighs 960 Pounds. Be very careful when loading and unloading using a fork-lift. 3) Never operate the Power Console with the sides or the top removed. Serious electrical shock can occur if care is not taken. 4) Always use a Primary Cable of #4 AWG minimum. Do not use anything smaller in size. The cable must be 4-Wire and the Power Console must be grounded at all times during use. 5) Make sure the Primary Input Tapings have been placed on the correct locations for the voltage you will be using i.e. 440/480/550 Voltage. 6) Make sure the Secondary Tapings have been placed on the correct locations for the heaters you will using i.e. 65/80 Voltage. 7) If you should have any questions please call us 24 hours a day 7 days a week at our office # (609) Getting Started set up Procedure 1) Make sure that all primary power connections are properly and tightly connected. Make sure that the unit is grounded and that the supply power is connected to the correct input tappings. 2) Connect the Triple Cable Sets to the output camlocks, and see that the corresponding thermal-couples are plugged into the proper T.C. jacks. NOTE!! When attaching the thermal-couples to the workpiece or reattaching a broken thermal-couple, it is very important to temporarily disconnect the T.C. from the Jack on the Console and the Jack on the Recorder. The electrical spark of the TAU may travel through the T.C. wire and cause damage to the recorder or the controller. 3) Turn power on to the console. 3

4 OPERATIONS MANUAL The new EHS Inc. Controllers incorporate two main types of operation. Remote and Local. In Remote the controllers are Completely Automatic and follow the programmer setpoint. In Local the controllers can be a Ramp to Setpoint controller or Manual % Output controller. In the Ramp to Setpoint and Manual % Output modes the programmer has no effect on the controllers. The only time the programmer communicates with the controllers is if the controllers are in REMOTE. The programmer will control up to 24 controllers. For the controllers to accept the signal from the programmer the controller must be in REMOTE and have the proper ADDRESS. 5 PROGRAMMER SETUP / ENTERING A PROGRAM The Wnd parameter will not be seen if the Hold/Bypass switch is in the Bypass position. 20 Wnd This is where the Hold value is entered. The Window (Wnd) setting is in degrees and represents the value of the Hold feature. The programmer will pause the current setpoint if one of the controllers gets behind or ahead of the current programmer setpoint by X degrees. The default is 20 degrees. 1 StEP This is the current Step you are programming, press up or down keys to change the Step. There are 16 Steps available. 3. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY StPt StYP The upper display indicates what Setpoint Type (StYP) you are programming. The options are: Setpoint (StPt) Selecting Setpoint, the controller will ramp to that setpoint Soak (SoAH) Selecting Soak, the controller will hold the last programmed setpoint End (End) Selecting End will terminate the program If you select Setpoint (StPt) end setpoint SP This is where you set the end setpoint for the current ramp step. deg./hour rate This is where you set the degrees per hour for the current ramp step. If you select Soak (SoAH) soak time Hour This is where you set the soak time in hours. soak time Min This is where you set the soak time in minutes. If you select End (End) 1. Press the Infinity key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY actual process temp. OFF Once End is programmed push the infinity key to exit and you are ready to run the program. 5

6 STARTING A PROGRAM: 1. Press the Infinity key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY (Program Running LED Flashes) Starting Temp. StSP Here you can select the Starting Temperature (StSP) for the current program by pushing the up or down keys. 2. Press the Infinity key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY 1 StEP Here you can select the Step you want the current program to start at by pushing the up or down keys. 3. Press the Infinity key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY actual temp. current setpoint Now the program is running. The program running LED will now be on. Viewing Program Variables while a Program is Running (PROGRAMMER ONLY) Once the programmer is running a program you can display certain variables by pressing the Scroll key. 1 StEP This indicates the current Step the programmer is running. actual end setpoint EnSP This indicates the current End Setpoint (EnSP) the programmer is ramping to. 3. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY actual time Hour This indicates the current time remaining in Hours for the current step. 4. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY actual time Min This indicates the current time remaining in Minutes for the current step. 5. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY actual time SEC This indicates the current time remaining in Seconds for the current step. 6. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY actual rate rate This indicates the ramp Rate (rate) for the current step. 7. Press the Advance key again and you are back to the Home Page. Stopping a Program while it is Running 6

7 1. Press the Infinity key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY current segment StoP Stop will blink in the lower display. To stop the program press the Infinity key again within 5 seconds. If no buttons are pressed within 5 seconds the display will go back to the home page and the program will continue to run. Pausing a Program while it is Running 1. Press the Infinity key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY current segment StoP 2. Press the Up key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY current segment PAUS Pause (PAUS) will blink in the lower display, to pause the current segment press the infinity key within 5 seconds. If no buttons are pressed within 5 seconds the display will go back to the home page and the program will continue to run. Resuming a Paused Program 1. Press the Down key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY current segment resu Resume (resu) will blink in the lower display, to resume the current program press the infinity key. Troubleshooting: Problem: Not all of the controllers are receiving the programmers signal Corrective Action: All the controllers need to be powered on for the programmer to recognize they are there. The programmer will not recognize a controller if it gets turned on 5 seconds after the programmer. Do not start a program for ONE MINUTE after the programmer has powered up. 7

8 CONTROLLER SETUP IN REMOTE r L-r Press the Up or Down key to make sure the controller is in Remote 1 Addr Press the Up or Down key to assign the correct Address to the controller The controller is now ready for a signal from the programmer; nothing else has to be done to the controller. CONTROLLER SETUP IN LOCAL RAMP TO SETPOINT r L - r Press the Up or Down key and select Local 2. Press the Infinity key to exit to the Home Page. 3. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY OFF rp With the Ramp (rp) off the controller will go to the setpoint as fast as possible. Turn the Ramp (rp) ON to view and adjust the rate of ramp in degrees per hour. When the ramp is on the upper display will always blink rp 4. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY actual rate rate Adjust the ramp rate by pressing the up and down keys. 5. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY actual end setpoint ESP This is the End Setpoint (ESP) and will be the setpoint the controller will ramp to at the selected rate. 6. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY Auto A - M This is the Automatic or Manual % Output selection. For Ramp to Setpoint control this has to be on Auto. 7. Press the Infinity key to exit to the Home Page The bottom display will show the ramping setpoint and the upper display will blink between the current temperature and rp. If the upper display is not blinking between the current temperature and rp the controller is NOT Ramping to Setpoint. Pausing and Resuming Ramp to Setpoint 8

9 blinks between PAUS rp and no Press the up or down key to select YES and the current setpoint will pause. To resume the ramping, use the up or down key to select no and the controller is ramping to setpoint again. Press the Infinity key to exit. CONTROLLER SETUP IN LOCAL MANUAL % OUTPUT r L - r Press the Up or Down key and select Local 2. Press the Infinity key to exit to the Home Page. 3. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY OFF rp 4. Press the Advance key: UPPER DISPLAY LOWER DISPLAY Auto A - M This is the Automatic or Manual % Output selection. For Manual % Output this has to be on Manual. 5. Press the Infinity key to exit to the Home Page. The Manual % Output LED will now be on. The upper display will show the current temperature and the lower display will show 0. To Manually adjust the output up or down use the Up or Down keys to select between 0 to 100 % output. 9
