Equipment Needle selection - Choose needle according to method and site - Most common are: o 27 gauge ½, 1 or 1½ o 30 gauge 4mm or ½ - Syringe size, 3, 5 or 10 ml The compounded injectables products are ready to use as is or mixed with other injectable approved substances. No local anaesthetic is required, if area is sensitive, use your discretion. Methods and Techniques The meso/nappage techniques introduce 0.2 to 0.4ml intradermal per point, like wheels. The point to point technique will leave ml IM at the pain or reflex/trigger site, a fine trail as the needle is drawn up and another intra dermal forming a wheel. The quadrant method has a series of wheels covering the region, each wheel will have between 0.2 to 0.5 ml of solution. Consider appropriate acupuncture points as needed. 3 Protocols Standard IM protocol: All techniques are applicable, choose the one(s) you are most comfortable with. 4 to 10 ml per session 2 sessions a week for 2 weeks (may go up to 3X/wk according to clinical picture.) Followed by 1 session/week until symptoms subside (8 10 weeks) For Chronic conditions, do once a month, until symptoms subside, then concluded with a final session one month later. Choose syringe size according to total volume, comfort and ease of control for your hand size, with needle size and type according to technique. For point to point technique with deeper points a 2 or 2½ 27 gauge needle may be required. Administration may vary according to individual needs.
