3 1.0 INTRODUCTION Lately LoRaWAN has been increasingly famous in the area of Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Many applications in our daily lives require remote control or monitoring, but at the same time high power consumption or data streaming is not necessary. This is where LoRaWAN came in and take its role due to its feature - low power, low payload. In LoRaWAN, LoRa Gateway has become one of the most important components because it receives signals from LoRa end devices/nodes and upload them to cloud server via Internet. 915MHz 8-channel LoRa Gateway HAT (HAT-LRGW-915) is the HAT specially designed to be used with Raspberry Pi board for LoRaWAN application. Used together with Raspberry Pi board, this whole thing can instantly become a LoRa Gateway with proper software setup. What is more important, the price is affordable compared to industrial-grade LoRa Gateway, suitable for education, makers, hobbyist, or individuals. This HAT is integrated with 900MHz ~ 930MHz LoRa gateway concentrator module manufactured from RisingHF, able to receive LoRa signals within frequency range from 900MHz to 930MHz (center frequency 915MHz). Not only that, this module is capable of receiving signals from LoRa end devices/nodes up to 8 different channels(frequencies) with different spreading factor simultaneously at one time! It also comes with SMA antenna connector, in which users can mount it with their favourite or customised antenna. This HAT also has built-in USB debug port, where users can use it for Raspberry Pi monitoring and debugging, or even use the whole gateway just like any other standard Raspberry Pi! Apart from Raspberry Pi board pin header, the HAT provides pin breakout. With manual wiring, user can possibly connect it with their favourite platforms such as Arduino, etc, possibilities is limitless. * This HAT does not contain LoRaWAN, the controller Raspberry Pi/other platform will need to have LoRaWAN stack, which can be done through software setup. (The steps for Raspberry Pi setup are available from Cytron Wiki or Tutorial page) Features: Easy integration with Raspberry Pi or possibly other platform to become a LoRa gateway Multi channels with multi spreading factor, able to receive LoRa signals from LoRa end devices/nodes up to 8 different channels with different spreading factor simultaneously at one time Supports frequency range 900MHz ~ 930MHz Comes with SMA antenna connector, in which user can mount it with their favourite or customised antenna ( MHz) Pin Breakout from onboard gateway/concentrator module itself for integration of this hat with other platform USB debug port ready for debugging purpose (used with Raspberry Pi board only) Interface via SPI with Raspberry Pi Suitable for low power wireless sensor network applications such as irrigation systems, smart metering, smart cities, smartphone detection, building automation, etc. Created by Cytron Technologies Sdn. 5 3.0 BOARD OR PRODUCT LAYOUT 1. LoRa Gateway Concentrator Module Manufactured from RisingHF, this module is multi channel with multi spreading factor, is capable of receiving LoRa signals up to 8 different channels with different spreading factor simultaneously. Supports frequency range of 900 ~ 930MHz. 2. Raspberry Pi Header This header pin is 2 x 20 GPIO header pin for Raspberry Pi board. This hat can be mounted directly on Raspberry Pi 2 or 3. Header mount is not supported for Raspberry Pi SMA antenna connector Connector for users to mount SMA antenna (900 ~ 930MHz) 4. USB Debug Port Used for Raspberry Pi monitoring and debugging. 5. Pin Breakout Pin breakout directly from pinouts from LoRa gateway concentrator module. This breakout is suitable for integration of this HAT with other platform. This is also suitable for Raspberry Pi 1 which has incompatible header mount. 6. Reset Pin Selection Onboard LoRa gateway concentrator module reset pin selection. By default GPIO25 from Raspberry Pi is used. Another option is physical RST pin from pin breakout, where user can select other GPIO pin from Raspberry Pi, connect to pin breakout RST pin by manual wiring. Created by Cytron Technologies Sdn.
