5 Introduction 1 These installation instructions are for Siemens SITRANS F US clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters. The instructions are aimed at persons that mechanically install the device, connect it electronically, configure the parameters and commission it as well as service and maintenance engineers. Note It is the responsibility of the customer that the instructions and directions provided are read, understood and followed by the relevant personnel before installing the device. 9 F US Clamp-on Communications Module Kit 3 Installation These Communications Module kit installation instructions address the three types of installation procedures for the flow meter: 1. Flow meters purchased with the correct MLFB number that includes the Communications Module will be supplied with the proper mounting kit and require no installation of the Communications Module. Refer to page 10 for installation procedure. 2. Fielded flow meters with no previous Communications Module installed. NOTICE Electrostatic Discharge, All Electronic Assemblies Take precautions against static discharge when handling circuit boards. Semiconductor devices must be protected from electrostatic discharge. A properly grounded conductive wrist strap must be worn whenever a circuit board assembly is handled or touched. Note For proper installation, mounting, wiring, and menu configuration of the flow meter please refer to the appropriate Operating Instructions manual. New Communications Module Installation This installation procedure is for flow meters with an I/O Module installed but no Modbus Communications Module previously installed. Mounting kits are also required for this installation. 1. Disconnect power to the unit. 2. Open the flow meter cover by releasing the side cover latch Loosen the I/O Module cover captive screw 2 and remove the cover, screw and standoff. 10 Hardware Installation Instructions, 03/2015, A5E AE

Remove the four mounting screws and standoffs 6 that secure the I/O Module 5 and discard. 5. Install the new standoffs supplied in the mounting kit in the vacant positions. Tighten the captive screws to secure the Communications Module and I/O Module. 9. If using Ethernet IP, connect the Ethernet connector. Note Ethernet Web Utility Discovery.zip This Web utility is used to locate communications modules on the same network. 13 F US Clamp-on Communications Module Kit Installation Field Upgrade with New Communications Module This installation procedure is intended for flow meters that are to be upgraded from the 1015N-5M Modbus Communications Module to the new Communications Module. 1. Disconnect power to the unit. 2. Loosen the I/O Module cover captive screw 2 and remove the cover Loosen the four mounting screws and standoffs 8 that secure the Modbus Communications Module. 5. Remove the Modbus Communications Module Install the new standoffs supplied in the mounting kit in the vacant positions. 7. 19 BACnet Communications 4 Introduction The Siemens SITRANS F US Clamp-on Flow Meters can be furnished with the Part Number A5E optional communications module card that provides BACnet communications over Ethernet or MSTP RS485. BACnet is a standard communication protocol for Building Automation and Control Networks developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). BACnet provides the communication infrastructure needed to integrate products made by different vendors. BACnet communication is based on standard objects. Each BACnet Device includes a Device Object and other optional objects within the device. Each object has associated properties. The A5E functions as a BACnet master device on an Ethernet or MSTP RS485 network. A typical illustration of how this might be configured in a plant network is shown in the figure below.
