1 GE Healthcare Upgrading and Deploying Secure Messaging and Patient Portal Version 6 Rev A October 2012 Prior to Upgrade Before you upgrade or deploy Secure Messaging and Patient Portal version 6, you should perform the following tasks. Enable DTC on the SQL Server If Secure Messaging and Patient Portal are installed on a different server than the SQL database, make sure the Distributed Transaction Coordinator (DTC) is enabled before upgrading to Secure Messaging and Patient Portal version 6. Accept or Deny All Review and Accept Messages Accept or deny all Review and Accept (R & A) messages before upgrading to Secure Messaging and Patient Portal Version 6. Any R & A messages received prior to the upgrade cannot be managed post-upgrade. Locations of Care Not Supported for Millbrook When a patient fills out a New Patient Enrollment eform that matches any patient anywhere in the CPS database, the message Patient already exists in system of record. Cannot submit new patient enrollment. appears. To prevent this situation, you should set up a single PM for each Location of Care. Take Screenshots and Export a Copy of Your Current Portal After you upgrade, you will need to make adjustments to the Appearance settings for your portal, in order to closely match your previous skin. You should take screenshots of your existing portal skin, incluiding any custom sub-pages, so that you can use them as a reference when you work on your new Appearance. 2 After the Upgrade Once you upgrade to version 6, your portal appearance defaults to the Light Blue theme included with SMPP. You can now modify your Appearance settings to design the look of your portal. Modify the Appearance The general steps to modifying your portal appearance are: 1 In the Admin area, use the Images page to upload all the images you want to use in your portal interface, such as headers, banners, and images for the various pages in your portal. 2 In the Admin area, ise the Appearance page to choose the Theme that is closest to your previous skin. If none of the themes are close enough, you can create your own custom theme using Jquery. See Building a Custom Theme for more information. 3 Use Theme Overrides to customize the colors of various elements of the theme, such as text and background colors. Appearance Best Practices Take note of the following items as you design your portal appearance for version 6: Images and tables should be no wider than 622 pixels, or they can push Webboxes to far to the right. The Full Screen setting is still a fixed width setting that is not entirely full screen. In the Eastside Family Medicine sample commubnity, there is a light blue bar that goes across the full width of the screen. This was by design for the portal, and not an error. The following pages in your site should not use right-side Webboxes, as they can interfere with the layout of the page: My Inbox My Medical Record 2 October 2012
3 Overriding Theme Settings Upgrading and Deploying Secure Messaging and Patient Portal Version 6 Theme Overrides allow you to change the color of a specific area of your community website while preserving the existing theme that you have selected in the UI Theme drop-down list. To override an area's color: 1 Make sure the check box is activated for the item you want to override. The field is highlighted, and you can type a web color code into the text field, or click the color wheel to the right and select a color. When using the color wheel, you typically set the general hue in the outer ring, then click in the square inside the ring to fine-tune your color. October
4 2 As you select the color, look at the Preview area to see your changes reflected in real time. If you want to preview the portal site home page at full size click (Preview). When you are done, click the Close button to close the Preview window. 3 Set the colors for any remaining override areas, then click Publish. When overriding the Hyperlinks color, only links that appear in the main body of the website are adjusted. Navigation bar and footer link colors can be customized in the the jquery theme editor. Building a Custom Theme If you want greater control over the look of your portal theme, you can create your own custom theme using the Jquery theme builder, which you can access from the Appearance page. Themes can be selected on a global level without the need to apply changes at the page level. Themes are also given improved descriptions for easier identification while a preview of the page is provided in the Layout section of the Appearance page. To build a custom theme: 1 In the Admin area, click Appearance. 2 In the Theme area, click (Edit). A message box appears to inform you that you are navigating to a third party website. 4 October 2012
5 3 Click OK. The JQuery ThemeRoller website appears. If the site does not open, you may have to adjust your browser's pop-up settings. 4 In the JQuery site, use the Roll Your Own tab to design a theme from scratch, or view the Gallery tab to find a theme you want to use or modify. 5 Once you create or find your theme, click the Download button on the JQuery site to save it locally to your computer. If you made changes in the Roll Your Own tab, then click the Download theme button on that tab. The theme is downloaded to your local computer as a.zip file. October
6 JQuery recently changed the file structure of the downloaded file, so currently, before you import the file, you must delete two files from the downloaded zip file. Open the.zip file, then open the js folder. Delete the file that does not contain the.min extension. Then, navigate to the css/<themename> folder and delete the file that does not contain the.min extension. Make sure that you re-zip the files, then proceed. 6 From the Patient Portal Appearance page, click the (Import) button. The Import Theme dialog appears. 7 In the Theme Name field, type the name you want to use for the theme. This name is added to the list of themes in the UI Theme field, where you select which theme you want to use for your portal community. 8 Browse to the.zip file that was downloaded for the theme. 9 Click OK, and the theme is imported. 10 Click the UI Theme drop-down list and choose the new theme. The theme appears in the list with the name you created, followed by <custom>. For additional information on creating your own jquery themes, navigate to 6 October 2012
7 Upgrade Notes Upgrading and Deploying Secure Messaging and Patient Portal Version 6 The following are important changes in version 6 that you should be aware of as you develop new pages and eforms. Repeat Button on eforms No Longer Customizable Previously, when you designed an eform with a section repeater, you could create custom text to appear on the Repeat button; for example, Please fill in again. Now, the button has been moved to the top action bar and simply says Repeat. It cannot be customized. If your eforms contained any instructions that referred to your customized button name, you may want to edit the text to refer to the Repeat button. Provider Selector Removed from eforms The Provider selector fields from previous versions of eforms will be removed automatically when you upgrade to Secure Messaging and Patient Portal Version 6. The eform is now configured to route by a routing list. As a result, you may need to review your eforms to see how the removal of that question has affected your eform layout. Existing Custom HTML in Messages Page Might Look Awkward If you use custom HTML in any of the messages in the Messages page, it is possible that the upgrade to version 6 may cause your custom HTML to look awkward. Version 6 uses JQuery to build many user interface elements, and previous custom HTML may not synchronize well with the theme and look you have designed. Horizontal Menu Wraps if it is Too Wide To prevent this situation, minimize the number of top-level menu items and use concise names for those items. Easier Section Management for MyMedical Record Previously, if you wanted to remove a section from My Medical Record, you had to move the Chart Page to a new parent page that was disabled, or delete the Chart page altogether. Now, the MyMedicalRecord pages are no longer managed by a parent/child relationship, and the Administrator can only add a Chart Summary page. The chart items that appear on the page are now controlled by a series of check boxes in the Custom Configuration tab. October
8 MyMedicalRecord Does Not Show All Sections By Default The MyMedicalRecord page does not show all sections, by default. To enable sections of My Medical Record: 1 In the Admin area, click Pages, then locate the MyMedicalRecord page. 2 Click (Edit) to edit the settings. 3 Click the Custom Configuration tab, then enable the check box for each section that you want to appear in MyMedicalRecord. 4 Click Save. 8 October 2012
