5 Introduction Self-Service GTP Introduction Purpose Self-Service GTP satisfies a request by the GTP Task Force to meet the needs of the USG institutions. Previously, students did not have the ability to view attribute information related to the Guaranteed Tuition Plan. This enhancement provides a rules form and a stand alone web page. The rules are based on the attribute code, term code effective, and the number of consecutive terms based on the institution type. The web page will display the attribute code, expiration term, and the number of consecutive terms remaining. There are three parts to this workbook: Codes, Rules, and Forms WebTailor Viewing GTP Attribute Data Target Audience and Frequency This document will be used by institutional users responsible for maintaining GTP attribute codes. Students may view attribute information at any time to determine when attributes for GTP will expire. Page 1 Self-Service GTP December 2008

6 Section 1: Codes, Rules, and Forms Staff - Section 1: Codes, Rules, and Forms 1. Student Attribute Validation (STVATTS) First, the GTP attribute codes are created. Institutions are encouraged to use the BOR approved standard attribute codes for the guaranteed tuition plan. Examples of BOR approved attribute codes: FA06, UT09, SP08 2. EDI Cross Reference Rules form (SOAXREF) Once the attribute codes are established in the validation form, they must be cross-walked for the purposes of reporting and processing in Banner. 7 Section 1: Codes, Rules, and Forms 3. Crosswalk Validation (GTVSDAX) Institutions that use non-standard terms for Spring Semester are required to use the HOPECHCKPT rule in GTVSDAX. This rule will allow for appropriate processing of nonstandard terms for the purposes of displaying the Guaranteed Tuition Plan information. 4. Additional Student Information (SGASADD) Students are assigned attribute codes for the purposes of fee assessment to ensure the student is charged appropriately for the guaranteed tuition plan in which they are approved to participate. These attribute codes are also displayed on the Guaranteed Tuition Plan web page in Self-Service Banner. A student must be assigned an attribute code to view the information in selfservice. 8 Section 1: Codes, Rules, and Forms 5. GTP Rules (ZGAGTPR) The GTP rules are required to display the appropriate expiration term and remaining consecutive terms for the student. The rules are based on attribute code, effective term and the consecutive terms allowed based on the institution type. The consecutive terms is the number of terms the attribute code is effective based on the institution type (State College, Two Year College, Research/Regional/State University, or State College - upper level). The attribute code is assigned to the student record in SGASADD. The term code the attribute is effective. Page 4 Self-Service GTP December 2008

9 Section 2: WebTailor Staff - Section 2: WebTailor (Optional) A WebTailor Administrator will need to update WebTailor information. 1. Linking Guaranteed Tuition Plan Web Page The Guaranteed Tuition Plan web page may be linked to other web pages within Self-Service Banner. The WebTailor Administrator will create the links. The WebTailor Administrator will log into the Secure Area of Self-Service Banner. Select the WebTailor Administration menu. From the WebTailor Administration menu, select the option to Customize a Web Menu or Procedure and search for the menu or procedure you wish to link with the Guaranteed Tuition Plan web page. Note: This example will link the Guaranteed Tuition Plan web page to the Account Summary page. Click on the Customize Menu Items button to display the Reorder or Customize Menu Items. 10 Section 3: Viewing GTP Attribute Data 2. Customizing a menu item From the Customize a Web Menu or Procedure page, click on the Customize Menu Items button. The Reorder or Customize Menu Items page is displayed. Select the Add a New Menu Item button. Click on the Add a New Menu Item button to create a link from an existing web page. The Create a New Menu Item page is displayed. The URL for the Guaranteed Tuition Plan page is required to create the menu item. Once the information is entered, submit the changes. 11 Section 3: Viewing GTP Attribute Data 3. Verifying Changes The changes are verified by selecting the menu item where the Guaranteed Tuition Plan web page is linked. In the example below, the Guaranteed Tuition Plan web page was linked to the Account Summary page. This is selected from the Student Records menu found on the Student & Financial Aid menu. The link to the Guaranteed Tuition Plan is displayed at the bottom of the Account Summary page. The Guaranteed Tuition Plan web page is now linked to the Account Summary page. 12 Section 3: Viewing GTP Attribute Data Students - Section 3: Viewing GTP Attribute Data Once the Guaranteed Tuition Page is set up, students will be able to view GTP attribute information from Self-Service Banner. The student will log into the Secure Area of Self-Service Banner and select the Student & Financial Aid Menu option. 1. Student & Financial Aid Menu The Student & Financial Aid Menu displays the Guaranteed Tuition Plan option. The student will select this menu option. The Guaranteed Tuition Plan option is selected to display the GTP attribute information for the student. 2. Viewing Guaranteed Tuition Plan Data The Guaranteed Tuition Plan information is displayed for the student. The data displayed includes the GTP Attribute Code, Consecutive Terms Remaining, and the Expiration Term. The information displayed is based on the rules built in the GTP Rules form and the Additional Student Information form for the student. Page 8 Self-Service GTP December 2008
