4 Enter Plan Basics The Plan Editor Form appears with the default view being the basic information form. Provide a descriptive title or Overview for the Plan Select a Planbook in which the Plan is to be added The New Planbook option can be added from the menu resulting in a text field appearing to the right where a name can be added for the new Planbook. Select a Unit in which the Plan is to be added The New Unit option can be added from the menu resulting in a text field appearing to the right where a name can be added for the new Unit. Enter the Duration or number of instructional days the Plan will take to accomplish Enter a brief description of the Plans in Details Click the Markdown icon to view the Markdown text formatting options Click the Concepts tab Align Plan to Concepts Click the Browse Concepts button Select desired Collection of Concept Sets Selecting this option will narrow the Concept Sets to a broad category based on state, discipline or other major category Select desired Titles of Concept Sets within a Collection Narrow the Concept Sets by Subject Select the desired Concept Set by clicking its Name 0 ALCA All Rights Reserved
5 Check the Concept(s) the Plan is to address Click the Select button Wrap Concepts around Plan Click the Concept s Edit icon to view its Concept Map options If desired, click the Delete icon of a Concept to be removed from Plan s Concept list Click the essential or supporting link Clicking either link provides access to the Concept s Map edit form so that, if needed, one can add additional Essential or Supporting language on the fly while working on the Plan. Check the Concept s Content being addressed in the Plan 0 Click the Check All link to check all checkboxes Check the Concept s Skills being addressed in the Plan Check the Concept s Learning Targets being addressed in the Plan 8 9 Note: A distinction is made between Explicit and Implicit language 8 Check the Concept s Big Ideas being addressed in the Plan 9 Check the Concept s Essential Questions being addressed in the Plan 0 Click the Standards tab Reflections 0 ALCA All Rights Reserved
6 Align Plan to Standards Click the Browse Standards button Select desired filtering options Selecting these options will narrow the standards sets Select the desired Standards Set by clicking its Name If one has already selected or Favored a Standards Set it will already be visible in the list Check the standard(s) being addressed by the Plan Click the Select button Wrap Standards around Plan Click a particular Standard s Edit icon Clicking the Edit icon will expand the standard to display its Mapping options. To remove a standard from the Plan s Standards list, click the standard s Delete icon 0 ALCA All Rights Reserved
7 Click the explicit or implicit link Clicking either link provides access to the Standard s Implicit edit form so that, if needed, one can add additional implicit language on the fly while working on the Concept. 8 Check the Standard s Content being addressed in the Plan 9 Click the Check All link to check all checkboxes 0 Check the Standard s Skills being addressed in the Plan Check the Standard s Learning Targets being addressed in the Plan 0 Check the Standard s Big Ideas being addressed in the Plan 8 Check the Standard s Essential Questions being addressed in the Plan Click the Coursework tab IMPORTANT: Wrapping Concepts and Standards around the Plan first greatly simplifies the process of finding highly aligned images, videos, and other web content that can be added easily to the Plan s coursework for teacher and student use. 9 Add Section Content to Coursework Click Add Content and select the Section content Section Content serves as header for related content within the Coursework. Subtext can be added under the header. Enter a Title for this section of your Unit s notes Enter Instructions or notes concerning this Unit Click the Markdown icon to view the Markdown formatting options Click the Delete icon to delete this content Click the Duplicate icon to duplicate this content When finished with the Section content, click the Add Content button 0 ALCA All Rights Reserved
8 8 Add Video Content to Coursework Click Add Content and select the Video content option Video Content allows the addition of YouTube or Vimeo videos to one s coursework. Click the Video Type addressing your video source Enter the Video ID Include only the ID. Do not include the entire URL. The video s still image will appear when the correct ID value is added. If desired, enter a video caption If appropriate, consider including the Informational text associated with the video. Click the Add Content menu 0 ALCA All Rights Reserved
9 9 Add Image Content to Coursework Click Add Content and select the Image content Image Content provides a variety of options for images including captions, text wrapping, alignment and size, and clickable links. Click the Choose Image button to add an image or drag and drop it inside the provided rectangle. Include only the ID. Do not include the entire URL. The video s still image will appear when the correct ID value is added. To modify the image size enter a desired number The numerical value is assumed to be in pixel units unless a percent sign is added to it. Note: If for example 0% is included the image will increase in width to occupy 0% of the window regardless of the width of the window. Set the desired Left, Right, or Center alignment of the image on the page When a file is added, its name appears here. If necessary, consider modifying the image s name to better represent the image in screen readers. Add a URL clickable link to the image With a URL link, when the image is clicked the URL page will be displayed. If desired, add Caption text 8 If desired, add text that can wrap around the image 8 0 Add a Paragraph Question to Coursework Click Add Content and select the Paragraph Question Questions can be included in Coursework resulting in data displayed within a Comprehend Table. 0 ALCA All Rights Reserved

11 Add a Checkbox Question to Coursework Click Add Content and select the Checkbox Question A file can be uploaded in response to a question. Add a brief Question phrase Add detailed, clarifying Help text Add a Label for the question Enter the Choices possible for the question 9 Click the Add icon to add another Choice Set the orientation of the choices by selecting Vertical or Horizontal 8 Click the Delete icon to remove a Choice from the list 9 Click the Embed Form icon to add a form link to the Coursework An embedded form can be completed by students within assignments across classes. These classes can be within a single site, across the district, or even across districts. Example forms could collect survey, water quality, historical artifact, or any other forms of data. 8 Embed a Form within the Coursework Click the Embed Form button The Embedded Form option appears in the right edit pane and the Embed Form rectangle appears at the bottom of the Coursework. 13 Explore the Slide s formatting options for text, images, and other features Right Click on an image and select the Image Properties option Explore the Image formatting options Of particular note is the Width and Height options. 14 Select Strategies for the Plan s Instruction Click the Strategies tab Linking instructional strategies to the Plan can provide real-time access to strategy resources as one prepares to provide the day s instruction Click the Browse Strategies button Check the Strategies Framework(s) to use with the Plan Click the Select button 0 ALCA All Rights Reserved
15 Check the specific Strategies to be used in the Plan s instruction Note that a Strategy can be linked to a Professional Plan that provides help or guidance in implementing that strategy. Click the name of a Strategy to view more information about its use Click the OK button Displayed is the Strategies Map for the Plan s Instruction. 17 Plan View Options Click the Collapse tool Clicking the Collapse tool displays the Arch Tools providing less space on the page to display the Plan. To edit the Plan, click the Edit Plan button 8 To view the Plan s Presentation slides, click either the Presentation button or an individual slide above the Concepts header To view the Plan s teacher Notes, click the Notes button To view the instructional strategies being used in the Plan s instruction, click the Strategies button 9 To share the plan with colleagues by or adding the link in web content, click the Share button 0 To copy the Plan, click the Copy Plan button 8 To view a specific Section in the Plan, click on the Section s hypertext link 9 To view the Concept within the context of the Concept Set it resides, click the Concept s clickable path 0 To view the Plan s Concept Map, click the Map icon To edit the Plan s Concept Map, click the Concept s Edit icon To create a new Plan using this Concept Map, click the New Plan icon To view the location of Content or Skills vocabulary within the Plan, click the term s hypertext link To conduct a Google search for a Learning Target, click it s hypertext link To conduct a Google search for a Big Idea, click it s hypertext link To conduct a Google search for a Essential Question, click it s hypertext link Video Content added will display in the Plan including any caption text added to it 8 Student s who have the Plan assigned to them can complete Coursework questions Any responses to Coursework questions will display in the Assigned Plan s Comprehend Data Table tab.
