5 Ektron Content Marketing Platform Product Notes Ektron Content Marketing Platform Product Notes This document provides Ektron Content Marketing Platform (CMP) product information and installation instructions. See the documentation for information about using CMP. Using Your Own DNS Server If you need or prefer to use your own DNS server, Ektron will provide you with a CNAME endpoint to create your DNS record. Ektron fully supports customer DNS configurations that are capable of pointing directly to a CNAME record. For example: CNAME Ektron can still provide limited support if your DNS server does not have this capability and requires that an A record be added for a domain/subdomain. In this case, Ektron will provide the IP address of the server hosting your blog. For example: A Ektron cannot provide full support for a load balanced configuration. Round robin load balancing may be accomplished by adding additional IP addresses to your DNS. However, if one of the servers must be pulled from the load balance rotation, you will have to change a DNS record to remove that server from the load balance rotation. While DNS changes may only take a few minutes to propagate, especially within the country of origin, full DNS propagation has the potential to take up to 72 hours. During this time period, any DNS server that has not been updated, will continue to send traffic to the IP address of the server that was pulled. This propagation window also applies when adding or reading a DNS record. Things to Know CMP apps (Blog Authors, and Campaign Management) does not work properly on Internet Explorer version 9 and lower. If you place the same CTA embed code anywhere on the same page twice, it renders both CTAs side-by-side, because it is using the same dynamically generated ID that is similar to the following: cta-171-image-4e21c3cb b-88ad4c8ed322 Each time you generate the same CTA, a unique ID is generated, differentiating the otherwise-identical CTAs from each other, which you then can place on the page. When you provision CMP, CMP uses the default language set in web.config. Ektron Content Marketing Platform Product Notes 5

6 Additional Resources CMP issues cause a 500 Internal Server Error. The most likely cause is site recompilation, so try to reload the page if this occurs. The beta version of the Ektron Content Marketing Platform supports only 1 Google Analytics account under the default name GoogleV3.0 in web.config. Do not change the default name because other names are not supported, even if the Workarea works without author or content analytics. As of this release, if you share a link privately on Facebook, the share count (or "Like" count) does not increase, which may affect your analysis. Facebook may resolve this issue in the future. If the user's Twitter account is protected, tweets made by the user do not increase the share count, which may affect your analysis. To change this, go to your Twitter account and choose Settings > Security and Privacy, and uncheck Protect my Tweets. 9 Installing the Ektron Content Marketing Platform PREREQUISITES To install Ektron CMP, you need the following installation files in the same directory folder: InstallCMP.exe CMS400Basev91.exe 1. Run InstallCMP.exe. The InstallShield wizard appears. You can accept the default install location or click Change to move it to another location. (This procedures assumes the default location.) 10 2. Click Next. The wizard runs. 3. A dialog box appears asking if you want to check for updates. Click No. The Ektron CMP completes its installation and automatically runs the Ektron CMS400 installation. 4. When the Ektron CMS400 installation runs, the license agreement screen appears. Select I accept the terms of the license agreement then click Next. The Setup Type screen appears. 10 Ektron, Inc.

11 5. Select Complete or Custom then click Next. (This procedure selects Complete.) The Ready to Install screen appears. Ektron Content Marketing Platform Product Notes 11

12 6. Click Install to begin the installation of the Ektron CMS. After a series of informational screens, a thank you screen appears. 12 Ektron, Inc.

14 8. Choose CMS400 Full Installation. The License Key screen appears. 9. Enter the license key for your Ektron CMS version 9.10 product, then click Next. The Website and Host Selection screen appears. 14 Ektron, Inc.

16 11. Accept the default Site Path destination folder, or click Browse to choose another, then click Next. The Secure Asset Stage Location screen appears. 12. 18 14. Accept the default values, or choose other site options, then click Next. Files are moved into the Workarea and then you are asked if you want to set up the database. 18 Ektron, Inc.

20 17. Enter a password for the admin account, and confirm it, the click Next. The Builtin Credential screen appears. WARNING! Do not use easy-to-guess passwords (because thieves will use automatic programs to test for easy passwords). Do not use passwords that you use for other systems (because if thieves gain access to your passwords on one system, they will try those passwords on other systems). 20 Ektron, Inc.

21 18. Enter a password for the builtin account, and confirm it, the click Next. The SQL Server DB Setup screen appears. WARNING! Do not use easy-to-guess passwords (because thieves will use automatic programs to test for easy passwords). Do not use passwords that you use for other systems (because if thieves gain access to your passwords on one system, they will try those passwords on other systems). 22 19. Enter the path to your database server, then click Next. In this example, SQLExpress was used. The database is set up and the installation is completed. 22 Ektron, Inc.

23 20. Click Finish to acknowledge completion of the installation wizard. A notice appears for Apache Solr Search. Ektron Content Marketing Platform Product Notes 23

24 21. If you need instruction about how to set up Solr, see Using Solr Search in the Ektron Reference. 22. When the installation is complete, you need to configure your site for esync. Click Generate on the Ektron esync Security Configuration screen. 24 Ektron, Inc.

25 23. Confirm the running of the utility. It will stop and restart the Ektron Windows Service. When completed, you see another confirmation screen. 24. Click OK. 27 Modifying the Ektron Content Marketing Platform Modifying the Ektron Content Marketing Platform Source Code The procedure in this chapter describes how to access the CMP source code to make modifications. PREREQUISITES CMP must already be installed. See Installing the Ektron Content Marketing Platform on page 9. You have Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 to work with Ektron CMP source code. 1. Download and extract the source code from [location]. 2. From the folder from which you extracted the files, open the Microsoft Visual Studio (VS) Solution file called Ektron.ContentMarketing.Release in VS In the Solution Explorer, expand the solution tree and select References. The source code comes with the following DLLs without proper reference, indicated by a yellow alert icon ( ). Go to the CMP site s bin folder located at C:\inetpub\<YOUR SITE>\bin. 8. Select the DLLs listed in step 3 and click Add. The following examples shows you how to modify some source code. 1. Go to Visual Studio 2012 > Solution Explorer > UI > MasterPages > Main.Master. 2. Save the changes. To publish the project: 1. Rebuild the solution from the Build menu in Visual Studio Select the solution from the VS Solution Explorer, then right click and choose Publish. A dialog box appears. a. Profile Choose Release. b. Connection tab: Profile Method Choose Web Deploy. c. Enter information for Server, Site name, and destination URL. d. Settings tab: Configuration Choose Release-Any CPU. 3. Click Publish. VS 2012 opens the site in the default browser with the changes. 28 Ektron, Inc.
