1 Adding a Blog Page in Weebly A blog allows you to post updates, reminders, links, and other information. There are a couple of ways you can use a blog in Weebly. You may include a blog page as one of the pages in your website. Or, your website may only have a blog page. Section 1: Creating a Blog 1. Log into your Weebly Education account Click the Edit button to edit your site. 3. In the Site Creator Toolbar, click on Pages. 4. Click Add Page. Then, choose Blog Page. 5. A Blog page will appear. Click to select a Page Layout. You have four layout choices: tall header (leaves a space at the top for a picture), short header (leaves a space at the top for a smaller picture), no header (will not leave a space for a picture), and landing page (leaves a spot for both a picture and text). Click Save & Edit to begin editing your Blog page. (If you only want to have a blog page on your website, you will need to delete your other pages here.) July

2 6. Click on Blog Settings. 7. This is where you can adjust the settings for your blog. In the blog settings, by default, your comment default is set to open. This means that people can comment on your posts. This will need to be changed. Click Open beside Comment default and change it to Closed. Click on the button beside time zone to change your time zone to US Central. Then, click Save Changes. 8. Click on the text underneath Author to type some information about yourself. Use the toolbar that appears to format the text. To remove the Author information box, move your mouse over the box and then click the blue X to delete it. July

3 9. Click on New Post. 10. Click in the Post title box to type a title for your blog post. The Twitter and Facebook sharing should remain Off. Comments should show as Closed. July

4 11. You can make categories for your blog posts. Once you categorize a post, your categories will appear in the sidebar. This will make it easier for people who visit your site to find a post on specific topics. To create categories, click the Add button. Then, type the name of your category and click Add. The category will now appear as checked in your list. As you add additional categories and posts, you can place a check mark beside the appropriate category for your post. (If you would rather not have categories, you do not have to create them.) 12. You can add titles, images, or text to your blog post. In this example below, I have added a Text Element. To do this, drag a Text Element from the Elements Toolbar to the Site Creator Window. July

5 13. Click in the Text Element to begin typing your text. Use the toolbar above to format your text. (You must highlight the text to format it.) 14. If you would like to add links to your post, highlight the text your would like to link. Then, click the link button in the toolbar. 15. Copy and paste or type your website link in the box underneath the Website URL. Then, click Save. 16. Your website link will appear as a different color than your text. July

6 17. When you have finished your blog post, click the Publish Live button. Use the Save to Drafts button to save and complete your post later. (If you have never published your website, you will get an orange Save button here until you publish your website.) 18. Once you have published, your blog post will appear online. Click the blue X to close the window. 19. If you need to edit a post after it has been published, place the mouse over the post s title. Then, click Edit Post. July

7 20. Once you have made your changes, click Publish Changes. This will update your post online. (Click Close to cancel the edit. Click Delete Post to remove the blog entry.) 21. Repeat the process each time you would like to add and publish a new post. Be sure to Publish your site when you are ready for your posts to appear online. Looking for additional resources?
