Specific requirements Title for main page: Littering: The Unpleasant Effects Meta Description: This website is about littering and it's deleterious effects, and to inform the reader how they might be able to reduce these effects Meta Character set: UTF 8 Logo: translogo.gif a transparent silver logo of a stick figure throwing out trash Main page photo: sean.jpg a picture of me in burlington. logo is a transparent image Font for bodies should be Droid Sans, sans serif, Font for headers will be Montserrat, sans serif, Borders on all pages will be outset first, then inset inside if need be. For the form the biggest box is outset with the same colors as the table displaying the csv files. All borders will be in this color scheme inside of the form. Other Webpage titles: Cigarette Butts Great Pacific Garbage Patch Composting Body of Cigarette Butts

8 Cigarette butts are the most common form of litter worldwide, and end up in our waterways. Though many Americans are arguably more conscious of environmental issues, and less americans smoke now then did 15 years ago yet the number of cigarette butts found in the ocean remains stable, if not increases. This means that people s attitudes towards the environment might not match up with their actual behaviors. If more cigarette smokers would take an initiative and be responsible with their cigarette butts we might be able to clean up our parks, sidewalks, and oceans. It is helpful as well to keep a clean environment with no litter at all as people are less likely to litter where it is clean. A table of data follows created with php ,616, ,052, ,369, ,527, ,640, ,426, ,268, ,638, ,892, ,971,551 Source: Body of Great Pacific Garbage Patch Off the coast of California, in the Pacific Ocean, great currents move through the water in a giant circle. While some wildlife simply pass through the currents, other s rely on the current for navigation through the seas. At the heart of these currents lies a floating pile of trash that has been estimated to be the size of Texas. This garbage patch is made up of many different kinds of trash from bottles, and bottle caps, to tiny plastic scrubbing beads that come in shampoo. All is picked up by the currents. One oceanographer noted that for an entire day he could see trash all around him while passing through this region of the ocean. We need to be more responsible as a country and try to resist throwing trash on the ground when it s the easy way out.

9 <image of garbage patch> Body of Composting Do you have a garden or landscaping of some kind in your yard? Do you also throw out food scraps and organic matter from cleaning up your yard such as leaves, grass clippings, and twigs? If you answered yes to both of these questions there is no good reason for you not to have a compost pile already! This is a very simple gardening project that will deliver free and rich nutrients to your soil, while keeping food scraps out of landfills. <image> You ll need a bin to contain your compost. Preferably you want one that will retain heat and moisture but will also allow for some airflow. All you have to do is add in a good mix of both food scraps and outside organic matter as well as some bacteria to start the deterioration process. Lastly you ll need to periodically check the moisture and temperature of the compost as these two factors can greatly speed up the affair. Body of Contact Me is exactly the form in the story board. Shoot me an ! contact me at spflynn@uvm.edu to recieve more information Your address goes here Submit
