25 6. Environments Introduction Environments are groups of computers, network and storage, providing a ready template for standard users to spin up virtual machines, created by the master user. The environment can be a 1- or 2-tier category. A tier is a group of logical networks, which can be classified as having either external or internal workloads. You can do this by selecting a workload type during environment creation. Workload type defines the nature of the tier either internet-facing or internal-facing. You can choose a workload type based on the nature of the workloads you are going to run on the VMs, clubbed under tier 1 and tier 2. The tier option is provided to enable you to define the security profile of the workloads. Within an environment, VMs are grouped into zones. When creating an environment, you can configure hypervisor options, image options, flavour options and the method of storage for the zone. These options are pre-configured by Tata Communications, based on the solution we provide for you. You can configure multiple zones within an environment tier. Environments are groups of computers, network, and storage, providing a ready template for standard users to spin up virtual machines, created by the master user.
