EANA news letter 31/12 Dpa offering its toolbox and solutions for Big Data Dpa announced that its internal rules will be made available for the agency s media customers via an online service called dpa-tools. The service includes rules and guidelines but also an inventory of Twitter accounts and simplified access to background information in the agency s archive. With our toolbox, dpa-tools, we help our customers even more in their daily work. Those using dpa-tools can save precious time for own research, for writing and for production of pages and programmes because it is faster to use our tools. As a joint editorial resource for the German media we share these digital tools with our customers, said Editor-in-Chief Sven Goesmann. Dpa also announced cooperation between the agency s daughter company dpa-infocom and German researchers to develop new technologies that enable comprehensive Big Data analysis. The research project is financed by German Federal Ministry of education and research. The aim is to make it possible for journalists to with a few clicks get access to thousands of national and international sources, video platforms, a variety of RRS feeds, news streams from social networks and millions of items from media archives. From 2016, the agency will test the platform for Big Data in its daily operations. The research project will run for three years.
