Technical Requirements & Pre-Requisites 1.1 Base Pre-Requisites Pre-Requisite LexisNexis Subscription + CaseBase Lexis Draft Subscription Microsoft.NET Framework Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime x86\x64 Description Subscription to CaseBase is a minimum requirement Please contact Customer Support if you have no subscription Can be installed through Lexis Draft installer if necessary Can be installed through Lexis Draft installer if necessary. Installation Procedure Current Lexis Draft customers should first uninstall the current version via the following Windows screen: Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Uninstall a Program Lexis Draft can be installed using either manual or automated methods as follows: 2.1 Manual Installation Installation of Pre-requisite software 1. Obtain the latest Lexis Draft Setup from LexisNexis. Use.msi file if an IT system administrator Use.exe file if a non-it system administrator 2. If using the.msi installer, separately install the prerequisite software from Section If using the.exe installer, the prerequisites will be downloaded and installed as needed Installing Lexis Draft 1. Install Pre-requisites: Currently Lexis Draft installs below components during installation if following component does not exists in the machine: Microsoft.NET 4.6.1: Microsoft VSTO 2010 Runtime: 64 bit OS: 32 bit OS: These components may be installed prior to running Lexis Draft Installer. If not, the Lexis Draft Installer will download and install the missing components by itself. Figure 2: Prerequisites Screen 7

But the Installation\uninstallation progress window will not be visible. /s This switch will make the MSI extraction from the exe Silent. REMOVE=ALL ADDLOCAL /SILENTINSTALL This switch is used for command line Uninstallation This switch is used for Feature level installation This switch is used for Silent Prerequisite Installation, but this switch will not make the Installation total silent only the UI will be limited. Notes: /v is used as default switch. This switch will pass parameters to Windows Installer service - msiexec.exe. As a best practice the switch '/s' should be given at the end of the command line instructions. Microsoft.NET framework Full must be available along with the other base prerequisites to install the Prerequisite Installer in silent mode. 19

20 2.3 Installation using.msi file (System Administrators) Note: The extraction of the.msi file from executable using /a option is not supported now. Please use.msi file provided. To install using provided.msi file, system administrators need to install all prerequisites by manually downloading as per in section 2.1 of this document, prior to installation. msiexec.exe should be started in administrative mode. 22 Example of installing using msi: Figure 23: Start msiexec.exe with options to install Word Plugin. 2.4 Self-contained Installer Figure 24: Installation progress The new version of the Lexis Draft Installer executable (.exe) contains all necessary prerequisites, so there is no need for separate download of prerequisites. 2.5 Customisation of Contract Companion Settings User can customize the Contract Companion settings in the UI in summary view. If a custom Contract companion needs to be copied in user machine, IT admin need to run following commands: The command to push the Contract Companion Custom DB will be as follows: copy C:\Mydir\ContractCompanion.db C:\ProgramData\LexisNexis\LMOPAC\DatabaseResources Here, Mydir is folder where the ContractCompanion.db will be copied from. This can be any location where IT admin will place the original ContractCompanion.db 22

23 2.6 Thin Client/Citrix Installation For thin client installations where all users require access to Lexis Draft the application can be installed as detailed in the previous sections. For thin client installations where only a subset of users require access to Lexis Draft the application should be installed as above, but with the following registry updates post installation: Instructions below are according to Windows Registry Version 5.00 Warning: If you use Windows Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. 1. Perform an All User deployment as detailed in section 2. Installation Procedure 2. 26 3. Login Procedure At first login to Lexis Draft, take the following steps: 1. In Microsoft Word, select the Lexis Draft ribbon. 2. If your login credentials are already saved in your web browser in the form of a legal cookie, the application will be ready to use. If cookies are set to automatically clear at logoff, you will need to repeat the steps above each time you want to use Lexis Draft. 3. If login credentials are not stored in a cookie, you will be asked to login upon first use: 4. Enter your login credentials and click Sign In.
